Syracuse University 2010-11 Basketball
BuffOrange replied to bills44's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I haven't seen the last couple games but the non-conf season basically ended with Mich St. It's not like Colgate and Morgan St are good mid-major teams. They are up to 7th in the Pomeroy rankings though, which is a good sign. -
All I know is I'm kicking myself hard for not doing a $ one this year. Why do you keep making rest of the year picks if you keep changing them? I have nobody good left. Lets just say I'm taking Miami for week 16. From the looks of it I may have to go SF the last week as well.

I'm going to take Dallas this week.
-
Boy does this week suck. I'll take Jacksonville I guess.

Yah Jackson was a beast. Sometimes he'll have games like that (the Florida game early last year?). Can't expect him to grab 16 boards every game, but it looks like he's primed to be a more consistent player this year - we'll need it to be an Elite 8 type of team. -

I like Fair's game too - he's got some Josh Pace in him. Scoop I think is always going to be a rich man's Devandorf (minus the awful antics) - good at keeping both teams in the game, but as stale as our halfcourt offense is at times you just have to live with it. I don't know who to compare Keita to because he's the sort of big that never goes to SU - unselfish, good defender, good passer - I like. Say what you want about Mich St but they did just play Duke to basically a push on their floor. Good win, I was surprised after what I saw vs. NC St. -
Steve Johnson Should Not Blame God
BuffOrange replied to NaPolian8693's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope this is a joke. We're always complaining about players thanking God when they win a game. Blaming God for the loss is way overdue. Besides no Bills fan can possibly believe in God. -
I'll take the Eagles for week 13.

Being a Black QB; It Must be Tough
BuffOrange replied to Rob's House's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It always kills me when people who work at ESPN complain about how media portrays stuff. It's like Vitale saying "nobody talks about ___, wah". Well you're the most prominent voice in college hoops so why don't you talk about them instead of crying about it and talking about Duke/UNC all the time. "You don't hear about the adversity Campbell had to overcome in Washington" - really? That must be why the Raiders were one of the more popular sleeper picks in August. Nevermind the Raiders drafting Russell in the first place. "You don't hear anyone criticizing Palmer" - really? Seriously? What are you watching/reading/listening to - KKK radio? You seriously don't understand why Manning gets more slack than McNabb for throwing a pick? "If Brett Favre had done this..." - I mean c'mon, John Madden is retired; the universal Favre love from the media burned and crashed about 5 years ago, for good reason. Cliff Notes: "I'm aware of facts A, B, and C that basically kill the point I'm trying to make, but it seems from my anecdotal observations ___". Gee, that's moving. My own anecdotal note as someone who has lived in Philly for a while - McNabb is less popular among black fans than whites. -
Chalk up another vote for McGee. Dude was the best in the league. Why did we draft McKelvin again?

I am going to say it....Bills don't need a QB

Fine line between being a man and gross overreaction to a couple good games, which as you'll recall Lossman had in 2006. I too am man enough to admit I previously thought he was not one of the best 32 QB's in football and now I believe he is. So by that definition he's not a career backup. Personally that's not really what I'm shooting for in my QB though. -

The Rams personnel is dreadful. Worse than ours. Probably worse than Carolina's. 4 wins with a last second loss @Tampa is quite an accomplishment for them and their rookie QB; and I admit I didn't think highly of Bradford. -

I agree the 1st pick looks unlikely at this point, so maybe it is all hypothetical and pointless. But infuriating? Why say stuff like "he wouldn't be good here" and "he's no Ryan" then? Which point are arguing - that he won't be here or that he won't be good? BTW, I've seen as many "I was wrong about defending the McGahee/Whitner/Maybin" posts as you have seen "I was wrong about Leinart" posts. -

There is no question that Sanchez and Flacco stepped in to good situations (I'm still not convinced they're that good to be honest) but why do you assume it's so easy to build a good defense and a good OL like the Jets did? Yah I know you didn't say that, I'm putting words in your mouth, etc but you sure seem to be implying such - otherwise what are you really saying? That a QB's job is easier when he has an awesome supporting cast? No kidding. First of all how do we build that defense when we're drafting Maybin, McCargo, and Whitner, and re-signing Chris Kelsay? Secondly we had a pretty damn good defense in 2003 and 2004 and that got us nowhere. Funny how people forget all this and downplay QB importance because we lost one shootout game in Baltimore. I guess we are so accustomed to seeing pathetic offense around here that a 22-19 game looks like a relative shoot-out too even though it's far from it by NFL standards. But hell, a measley 19 points would've been good enough to beat Miami & KC and 14 was enough even with our lousy defense, to beat a team who hadn't held anyone under 20 points on the road since about 1992 - nobody ever mentions that either. Aaron Rodgers was not the #1 overall pick, not even close. Luck is right now a higher rated prospect than Matt Ryan ever was, and that's not close either. That doesn't mean he will way better; and it's not a knock on Ryan who is very good, but lets not re-write history - there were a lot of mixed reviews on Ryan. Mark Mayock liked him a lot; most others thought he was Alex Smith. You might as well just say all of those guys are different because their names are not Andrew Luck and they went to teams other than Buffalo, which is true but those are not good reasons to pass on this guy if we have the chance. -

They have as many TD passes as the best college defender has sacks and ints. -

This. For whatever reason the Caseys of the world seem to think busts only exist at QB. As Kiper documented a couple years ago, Dlinemen are as risky as anyone in the early 1st round. That is spin if I have ever seen spin. He played very well in Baltimore. Good for him. KC was a game where the offense scored 10 points, with numerous blown chances to pick up 10 yards for a game winning FG. I don't know anyone outside of Illinois who doesn't think the Bears are a complete fraud - there was a reason that was a pick 'em in Vegas - they have one and done written all over them unless they play an NFC West team. Plus if God forbid we win those games those teams are a combined 17-13 instead of 20-10 which doesn't look quite as sparkling - the Bills have had a way of inflating their opponents record for a while now. -
First time watching Luck was yesterday

The guy is not Tebow. His skillset transfers to the league. Thanks for educating us on pro defenders being better than college though. Who knew? -
I will take the Jets for next week.
-
I will take Pittsburgh this week.

Post less.

+1,000. Actually you did say that - see below. Thanks for telling random people they're not perfect though - that's helpful.
-
So in addition to watching the Bills every week you also manage to watch every Eagles, Colts, and Patriots, and Charger game, simultaneously if necessary? Cool bro. For once I agree with you... Here we go with another thread full of condescending straw-man "You must be a hippie, pot smoking Hippie freak who values dogs more than people if you're actually disgusted by premeditated torturous murder, err....'a mistake'. Boy those posts never get old It's actually 6 games, no 9 that he's played btw. As lights out as he played last night, their record is not much different with a healthy Kolb playing every game. I don't think New England with their cast of scrubs on offense is beating Baltimore and Pittsburgh with whoever their backup QB is. Manning and Brady are boring picks though because they're always good.

Stupid Lions chokejob. Has anyone's opponent ever missed more FG/PAT's than the Jets the last two years?
