Anybody watching women's world cup?
BuffOrange replied to Cugalabanza's topic in Off the Wall Archives
So basically nothing.. Fifa actually said it was because Solo moved forward (which she clearly did not even when you watch the replay in super slow-mo). Just wow. I'm not sure if the thought of the fix being in is any more scary than an honest ref being that incompetent at her job. This +100. With her left foot too. And her PK was perfect...<3 Meghan. -
Hmm, not exactly what I was hoping for. I'm fine with the all-whites but something about the red/white/blue stripes over the shoulders don't do it for me. They look too 80's Patriots'ish or something. Still a welcomed upgrade over the previous abortion.

Official 2011 NBA Playoffs thread
BuffOrange replied to ieatcrayonz's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Why are you talking about Kobe? He was garbage in Game 7 last year; Gasol bailed him out. And he made a myriad of mistakes that kept Spain in that game before making some big shots. Lebron was an inexplicable no-show the last few games of this series. It's unlike anything I've ever seen in the NBA. People who hate him are inevitably re-inventing history, but he was actually previously pretty damn good in big spots. He single handily beat the Pistons to get to the finals with 25 straight pts when he was 22yrs old. He made an insanely clutch shot to beat Orlando but couldn't overcome a bunch of schmucks as teammates. He was nasty in the Bulls series this year. But running away from the ball at the end of these last couple games when he was on the superior team, wow, it was just surreal. I will still wager a lot of $ that he'll win a ring someday though. -
Official 2011 NBA Playoffs thread

The previous Dallas-Miami series pretty much turned me off to the nba. I didn't even have a rooting interest, but boy did that series seem rigged. It's only fair if Dirk goes to the line a billion times and the Mavs get every call this time imo. -
Would You Take 8-8 or 3-13 and the #1 Pick in '12?
BuffOrange replied to jwhit34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Andrew Luck and it's not close. Ask Colt fans if the pain of 1997 is still hurting them. If you've fallen in love, or heard people fall in love with flavor of the month QB's in previous years who had big ?'s and are scared because of it, that's a you problem. Doesn't mean this guy isn't the real deal. -
2008 Bills Draft- grade me now.
BuffOrange replied to buffan4life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh man, I hope you're joking; otherwise I'd have loved you for a teacher. What a disaster. McKelvin sucks for the 11th pick. Like someone else said I don't know how you can not give the Bell pick a passing grade. So what if he's a marginal starter or shouldn't be starting; most 7th rounders don't make the league. Those first few picks are just awful though. -
What would you give up to get Luck in next years draft
BuffOrange replied to jkx2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes I would definitely pull a Ditka. -
I think Donte Whitner is on his period

Who would you have picked? Post draft mock
BuffOrange replied to Koufax's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Looks good to me. Yah, pointing to Sanchez and the Jets for proof of anything is pretty foolish. It's not easy to find a franchise QB, but it's easier than putting together the league's best OL and finding the best CB since Deion Sanders. If this draft is going to yield us that then great. It won't though. -
It's pretty embarrassing, reading this board sometimes...
BuffOrange replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can get on board with ripping the 'half-wits with an internet connection' who think they know anything about the draft. But that's about where your rant needs to end. Lets face it - you and people like you make this same post every year. And more often than not (whether it was by sheer luck or not) "the idiots" have been right and you have been wrong. "Lets wait 4 years before making any judgement" they always say. OK, so when someone says the 2007 draft was an epic failure, it's either greeted with "go root for the Patriots" or "Poz really isn't that bad". So don't tell anyone to wait 4 years when you still can't admit you were wrong 4 years later. I should hope the roster is better than it was Thursday afternoon - that's a pretty low bar you're setting for what constitutes a successful draft. -
Are you sure they're the same people?
-
What is this franchise QB's name?
-
Fair enough, but nobody ever does that. Lets look at 4 years ago: Marshawn Lynch + Paul Pos + Trent Edwards = suck.

In a Cold Weather, Hard Nosed City
BuffOrange replied to ronaldo922's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It makes about as much sense as your cliche-filled OP. If you don't think we need a really good QB/OT you're kidding yourself. But that doesn't mean I take issue with passing on some Missouri project that played 2 years in a gimmick offense. It's about the player, not the position, duh; and none of these QB/OT's appear to be as good as Dareus. -
Yah, a youtube highlight reel put together by either the school or some frat guy is a solid scouting resource. Though I suppose the results couldn't have been worse than what the Bills have done post John Butler.
-
What do you want them to do - parrot what Kiper & Mayock say about specific players and pass it off as their own opinions? Because that's pretty much what everyone else does. I am more annoyed with guys who pay no attention to college football and then pretend to have a clue on the BC offensive tackle. It's a joke. We all know what the Bills need (pretty much everything save a few positions). Hopefully they pick players who are going to be good at those positions. And hopefully they don't pick a RB/WR over a lineman unless they're the next Thurman Thomas or Andre Reed. And that's really all that needs to be said. There's no point in pretending like you know whether Clemson LB or USC LB is going to be a better pro.

This is the thread where people who hate on Mel Kiper give out grades based on where players were picked in relation to....Mel Kiper's board.

Surprised none of you 'poker stars' has posted this

Glad I withdrew most of my $ before a couple local Brick&Mortor rooms opened up recently (the games are soooo much softer than online). But yah, this is an absolute disgrace. Pathetic that it is legal to play in just about any country in the world except for "the land of the free". Meanwhile lets continue to tax the **** out of lotteries, which are largely purchased by the poor who can't afford to throw $ away. Such hypocritical moral highground garbage. -
You must not have watched Game 2 of the Ottowa series they won or Game 1 of the Carolina series - or were those not meaningful games?
-
Oooh, the Philly broadcast team - their pbp guy is the most pathetic homer in the history of sporting events, ever. I want to stab my ears out. There's never been a legit penalty on the Flyers, ever. Lindy's complaining this time of year got old for me a while ago, but he's totally on point about the Flyers being a bunch of pathetic crybaby whiners. God I hate them so much.
-
Somehow the order of the games was always more interesting when there was a chance we wouldn't suck. Our first 3game road trip in a while, oh well, it happens. Couldn't have really picked a better game for Toronto than the Skins - the less interesting of the two NFC games. 1st NE game is home for once - maybe that'll change our luck?

Rob's advice in this thread is gold.
-
And he cheats less than his counterpart. A disgusting game for sure. No doubt the loser will get their FF appearance revoked (because the ncaa turns a blind eye to champions). So a lot on the line, but it makes me puke that one of them will probably win. What kind of degenerate do you have to be to bet on Colonial Athletic games btw?
-
I'm sure they will. Still a blown golden opportunity for the best team given how busted open this tournament turned out to be. I'd feel the same way about Cuse if it wasn't obvious all year that the backcourt just wasn't going to cut the mustard. I'm going to need a shower after watching Uconn-Kentucky. It's like Jets-Pats all over again.

Talked with Charlie Weis Yesterday
BuffOrange replied to STLBILLS15's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That depends. If you mean players who were good here and also played well elsewhere (Fat Pat, Winfield, Greer, Fletcher), lots. If you mean players who stunk here and were good elsewhere, virtually none. Currently almost all of our players on defense stink, so they probably won't play well elsewhere. I don't mean to defend Edwards, because his resume is kind of a joke.
