I would guess 2 because most people still think the Jets are better on a neutral field. How does the Giants game look better after they beat Miami at home by 3 points?
-
Of course as was mentioned, all things have not been close to equal. I don't know how you scientifically figure out some utilitarian graph where price becomes too high to offset a better on-field product; but at least for me, $85 for a contending team is much more appealing than $60 for a Jauron-era snoozefest team. Denver & Tenn won't have a problem selling if we're in the thick of things imo.
-
Nothing you don't already know I'm sure, but that's what the salary cap is for. If the Cowboys could spend more they probably would. I think it's pretty much BS that the Bills can't compete under the league's current structure; or for that matter as this article alludes to, that billionare owners even buy pro sports teams as an investment in the first place, or that they might somehow not be viable to potential buyers w/out Toronto.
-
True that.

Part of any new GM's job is evaluating incumbent players (which they all claim to do in tirelessly watching film after they take the job). "How good can this guy be in the offense we want to run", "how important of a position is this", and "how imperative is it that we upgrade here" are all questions/decisions that are a part of that process. Yes, Freddie is having his best year to date, but he hasn't come out of nowhere to resurrect a busted career. If they're shocked by how good he is, they missed on their evaluation.
-
Sigh, he still drafted him 9th overall with said 3rd or 4th best RB in the league on the team.

Interesting, thanks. It might be smart. "Necessary" is a strong word imo given they already were making $ and "regionalized" to some extent in Rochester/Ontario. Plus revenue sharing and (correct me if I'm wrong) a very high % of an NFL team's $ coming from TV. If they make $5mill more than a regular home game, that's not nothing. But I seem to recall Ralph referring to corporate naming rights on the stadium as "a drop in the bucket" - how much less $ would that bring in per year? Meh, still seems like a money grab imo. I hadn't heard that, thx. As of now though the Bucs haven't officially gone for it and if/when they do their fans are gonna b!tch too.
-
Yes but the Bucs don't have to play that game every year and the next time they do it will likely count as one of their "road" games.
-
John, why do you suppose there is interest on renewing the deal from the Toronto side? Haven't they pretty much been swindled by Ralph on this?
-
No I was just saying it would be the top game that week on CBS. Like Kaz said it won't be on local tv due to it being opposite an Eagle home game. Man, what a crappy rule that is (though they might've shown Pittsburgh instead anyway).
-
Not much we don't know already; though I suppose nationally there are still people that think Toronto is to us what Milwaukee was to GB. I'm holding out hope the crowd will be better with a better team but probably shouldn't hold my breath.
-
Yeah i was looking at the week 9 schedule yesterday & figured it had to be. Eagles/Steelers/Ravens all in primetime works out perfectly. Nantz/Simms are a lock to do that and the Dallas game which I don't care about; but 4 games in a row of "the A team" - who would've thought that?
-
He sucks anyway. No Moss hurts them though.

OP is right, I don't know why people get so upset with these threads. 5-10 years from now nobody will grade the front office based on the W/L record in the first six games of 2011. This same thread could've been made in 2008 and would've gotten the same "stop being debbie downer" replies. That's not to say I wouldn't rather have Nix than Marv but he is not the reason we're 4-2; Fitz, Freddy & Chan are. You can give Nix credit for hiring one of them, but not for the guy he tried to replace with his 1st draft pick.
-
You're probably out of luck until they play the NFC Norse again in 2014. At least that's how it is in Philly - they like to show the Giants & Cowboys as long as it doesn't interfere with the Eagles.
-
Wow, that is a weak slate of games. First time ever we get Aikman?

Great win by The Orange last night

Good win. And Dajuan Coleman is staying home - nice. -
Haha, oh wow. Take me to your leader. Wait multiple people actually believe this? Russ is so awesome at brainwashing, err....his job it's sickening.

Funny but not surprising. There can't possibly be an easier board to troll than this one.

I 'jumped in' with one short paragraph at the end of a post about Luck, and you respond with an 'I told you so' novel dissecting a week 7 game, which by your own admission is the sort of game that doesn't matter. And my nerve was the one that was hit; and I'm the argumentative one since you're one of three people who think Russell was as highly touted as Luck You're the one who mentioned Manning proving everyone wrong in '06 and when that's shot down just pretend like I brought it up out of the blue - brilliant. Twisting, dodging, ducking, blah blah blah. Just do yourself a favor and stop embarrassing yourself. It's gotten pathetic. I can picture your morning now, getting out your glasses and a cup of coffee, scouring the web in a sorry effort to cherry-pick stats to make your futile case. "How can I prove LT was still good in '08-09? Oh crap, he was well under 4ypc both years, so I can't mention that. Oh I know! I'll just mention these TD #'s. Thank you Norv for giving him so many charity goaline carries! I can then trash the Chargers front office, which will mesh perfectly with my theory that they've had stacked personnel on offense and a nasty defense - yah, that'll show him!" One might think that with Jackson aka this generation's Jerry Rice and all these HOFers to open up the running game, that a HOF RB in his prime could do better than 3.6 ypc those two years; but then I guess nobody ever accused you of making much sense. As much fun as it's been destroying you I have to move on to a bigger challenge, such as breathing, or tying my shoes. I know you won't be around in 3 years, at least not under the same name, so better luck in future endeavors champ. -

IDK what to tell you man, other than you must have a selective filter. The Palmer trade was the most talked about thing in the league last week and plenty of people ripped Oakland for it, me included. I'm not going to say "I told you so" for the same reason I wouldn't be saying "I was wrong" if he had played well. It was one half of football, which doesn't matter much in the grand scheme of things. I don't know if proponents of the trade would be as vocal as Tebow Nation if Oakland had won in the exact fashion that Denver did; I tend to doubt it though. Also, this: -

I fully realize it's a team sport. How else would the SB winning '06 Colts win their first two playoff games with 1 TD and 5 ints from Manning? Or are those gem box scores not available on nfl.com? Oh that's right, you only believe in stats when it suits you - how convenient! That explains why Rivers' reg season #'s from '06-'10 don't count for anything (because darnit, not everyone has the luxuary of throwing to Legedu Naanee!) and suddenly now we care about the first 6 games of regular seasons when we never did before. Well as long as you're consistent... LT was a monster in his prime and that helped - I don't remember saying otherwise but if you can quote me saying otherwise instead of making up your own quotes be my guest (also note that his prime years were over by 2008). No clue what point you're trying to make in posting Vincent Jackson's stats. #1 WR's usually have good #'s in good passing offenses with good QBs. SD letting him hold out for 11 games and then franchising him instead of offering a long-term deal ought to tell you something. Since I have an open mind and am not strangely obsessed with an NCSt/SD QB as you seem to be, I'm actually going to agree that he comes across as whiney sometimes. I would think his teammates care more about him gutting out a playoff game on a broken leg as it pertains to his 'leadership' but I'm not in the locker room as you seem to be so who knows.. Love the overreaction that football generates with all this time in between games. I just wish archives were easier to search because some of this stuff would provide great comic relief years later. Are you one of the guys who was arguing vehemently with me in '06 when Big Ben was having a bad year that he was being exposed as a fraud and that he would never amount to anything without Jerome Bettis and Antowain Randle El? Maybe you've just changed your screen name.... -

I never thought he would be good but never hated him in the slightest; seems like a good guy. Frankly i could never understand why he is so polarizing and interesting to people. I think I get the hate now after all the praise heaped his way over a dreadful game. If you seriously "don't get" why people aren't trashing Charlie Whitehurst I'm afraid nobody can help you. -
Yup, I think it would've been 6.5 @ the Ralph.
