  1. That would set us up nicely to draft a RB.
  2. I like the gist of your points. I can tolerate him in doses for a lot of the same reasons. His "look at the facts and take the emotion out of it" theory appeals to the economics major, poker player in me. And I'm pretty much with you on Mike&Mike. It's nice that they're like 2 guys talking sports in a bar, but it's sort of useless to me because I can just talk to my friends at a bar and learn or be entertained just as much. I just lost a lot of respect for Cowherd last year & haven't listened much since the pathetic Aaron Rodgers backpedal. For 20 straight weeks it was "what's so great about this guy, he's never won a playoff game?" He even argued with one email saying the Jets wouldn't trade Mark Sanchez for him! Then after the SB all of the sudden it was "oh well all I said was that he wasn't as good Brady". Ya Colin, Brady, Sanchize, same thing. Man up and eat crow ffs.
  3. Right. Putting "look at what the Pats did to the Jets" in bold as if rushing was a key for them is pretty comical. I'd like to know how many of those runs came in the 4th qtr when the game was in hand. They threw the ball over the field to get their lead.
  4. Many of his ex-teammates seem to feel the same way. He was awfully arrogant that he would be an instant media-star, so I'm sure his ego is hurt at what an epic failure that's turned out to be.
  5. It's never the players' fault though.
  6. There's no magic formula that stops a team in its tracks but sometimes defenses do find a bit of a kryptonite. Denver clearly did something well in the championship game and I think the Redskins copied some of that in the SB. The offense was never as great from '92 forward but still good obviously (a lot of this was probably Lofton getting older, and departures on the OL). In the long run it almost always comes down to talent. IDK if it is as much of a false premise with the current group. The best "pieces in place" you're referring to are Jackson, Wood who is now hurt, Levitre who is currently playing out of position, and a Stevie Johnson who appears to not currently be near 100%. That's better than nothing but it's certainly not enough for any coach to take and make a potent offense either. I haven't joined in the Donald Jones bashing thread because frankly I like the guy but honestly, on how many teams in the league is he a #2 - not many.
  7. Players need to make plays. The short passing game is who this team is. They don't have the QB, OL, or WR's to be the '76 Raiders. When they did adjust and take some shots downfield in the 2nd half last week, people complained about that too.
  8. So the 90's teams ran the same repetitive offense with greater success because they had better coaching, not because they were stacked with HOFers. Way to put everyone in their place.
  9. What games were you watching in September? We got zero pressure with Merriman & Kelsay other than a few blitzes on Vick. We're just not getting tipped ball int's anymore. That's more like 15 degrees than 180. The offense on the other hand... Blaming coaching for the Bryant TD is a joke.
  10. This was the toughest game left on NE's schedule - ain't gonna be no 3way tie now. I still felt the Eagles were dangerous a couple weeks ago but I think it's time now to admit they stink. The good news now is we win the tiebreaker with the Jets if we beat them & sweep Miami, which of course won't be easy.
  11. Haha I was just thinking the same thing.
  12. Ehh, it's not like they're down by 21.
  13. There's a difference between not being overeactionary/avoiding panic buttons, and just being a full blown apologist at every opportunity. After every win thumb your nose at how dumb "the experts" are (and always make sure to put "experts" in quotes) and after every loss, oh well it was just one game. That's all he does, ever. This loss is not the end of the world to be sure. They needed to win 2 of 3 on this road trip and 1 of those wins needed to be the Jets, so if we had won this and the next game it wouldn't do us much good if we lose @NJ. So I'm not as upset about it as others are. But it's obviously getting harder to be optimistic about that game in 2 weeks.
  14. Good job Jet Special Teams. Michaels or Collinsworth mentioned it but really an onside kick has to be correct from midfield right?
  15. Yah clearly something is not right with him healh-wise right now. If by "elite" you mean Andre or Calvin Johnson well duh, of course he's not that but the idea that you can't win with him as your #1 WR is pretty silly; he's just entering his prime years and he can run every route. We can either sign him or revert back to the same old agonizing process we've seen at CB over the years - "hey lets let Jabari Greer walk and use our 1st draft pick on McKelvin and hope he's good".
  16. Calling Gailey a mediocre offense coach at this point is over the top. What's not over the top is the thread a couple weeks ago that pointed out that our fast start has little to do with Nix's personnel prowess. The Spiller pick just looks worse every week.
  17. All of the backlash that Smith will take is pretty much a prime example of why coaches are and will continue to be cowards. If they punt and give up a FG he takes zero blame but now it's 100% on him and none on the players.
  18. You obviously haven't seen the Pats schedule. Much better chance of the Bills picking up a flukey win in a one game scenerio than NE collapsing.
  19. I've been saying this for a long time. The counterpoint is always "DB's would always then just tackle WR's when they're beat" - which is ridiculous because that never happens in college. But as long as the rule is what it is it's unfathomable how every team doesn't take 2+ deep shots per quarter.
  20. Because McCourty has been shutting down everyone this year.
  21. Is this point still funny?
  22. Sounds like you started tailgating early. Johnson threw a TD pass & Doughboy came in when it was 13-13 and a slant to Moulds set up the GW FG.
  23. Dallas@SF this year sounded like a Cowboys home game on tv.
  24. I'm gonna say teams who originated in 1995 are not the Cubs of the NFL.
  25. Actually this is the 4th game in a row.
