  1. I don't know if that's true or not. I'd have to look at their schedule to see which/if any games they lost early in the season primarily because of horrible, inexperienced QB play. When it's all said and done they will be 7-9 and nowhere close to the playoffs as they still have to play NE and Philly. If they did make the playoffs w/ Kitna this year, Pittsburgh still runs away with the division and they get killed by the Colts/Chargers in the first round. Not that much of an upside to playing the veteran.
  2. Call me Ice, but I just don't see it. With Drew we KNOW the best we can do is a road wildcard game. That's all we're risking by playing JP next year. Maybe the kid will stink and cost us a wildcard spot, but it's a risk I'm willing to take considering the potential reward of playing Drew, realistically, is not the Lombardi trophy. I'm tired of losing to the damn Patriots.
  3. I think you try to strike a balance between need and best available player. If one guy stands out heads & shoulders above everyone else, then take the best player regardless of position. Otherwise, I would take the best available player among the OL, TE, and DE positions. Despite defense being the strength of this team, I'd prefer a DE if the players are of the same caliber. Our defense would be the best in the league with a big-time pass-rusher.
  4. The Seahawks 1st TD was pretty bogus too. Illegal "getting thrown to the ground" penalty on the defender.
  5. That really is a sham. Since we don't know who is better between Oklahoma and USC, lets say they are even for argument's sake: Cal lost to USC on the road by 6 points, outplayed them statistically, and had a chance to win it late. Texas lost to Oklahoma by 12 on a nuetral field, and if you watched the game it was never close. Their offense was pathetic, and their QB couldn't complete a pass to save his life. They never even came close to scoring. Never been a Michigan fan but I hope they destroy Texas.
  6. You must be thinkin of a different guy. He literally sounds like a nervous 7 year old kid with a social disorder during show & tell; never armed w/ any facts. There's one guy on latenight weekends that seems well prepared, although I'm usually drunk.
  7. Are you serious? - Last year he said the only reason the Bills beat Jacksonville was because the Jags turned it over. Uhh, the Jags had zero turnovers in that game. - When a caller asked him why the Iggles didn't go after Takeo Spikes, he said the Bills gave up draft picks to get him. Uhh, right. - When a caller argued that Elway didn't have a great supporting cast in the 80's, he said "that's not true they had plenty of great WR's". Then he began stuttering and couldn't name ONE SINGLE WR from those Broncos teams. I could go on and on, but basically Eskin is a pathetic blowhard; and I don't listen anymore. I prefer the static of the NYC station on my drive home.
  8. Re: the Ravens game - there was no guarantee the Jets were going to score a TD on 3rd down to win the game. I don't know why everybody assumes that. Granted that and the Jordan pass was horrible coaching, but that's your problem; I don't think Bellichek is going back to leave NE and coach the Jets for the last month of the season. Their defense has really surprised me. Vilma and the rookie from last year have really helped the run defense. Still, the pass-rush makes the secondary look better than it is, which could be a problem if Abraham is seriously hurt. The bottom line is that it wouldn't necessarily be a "collapse" or a "choke" if they were to lose 3 more games. They're going to be underdogs vs. the Steelers & Pats. As awful as the Rams have looked I wouldn't want to play them in that dome if they're fighting for their playoff lives. The easiest game you have left is Seattle, which is no gimme though it should be a win.
  9. Hi BuffOrange - you seem like a nice guy so let me help you out: http://www.nfl.com/standings/tiebreakers I love google. So the Jets are definitely not a lock. This is good.
  10. Those guys are usually pretty objective - not the typical homers. Even when I don't agree with them they at least have a clue about what's going on outside of NYC, which is more than I can say for the Philly stations. I heard them saying basically the same things way back after the Cardinals game. However, they were also talking as if the Jets are a mortal lock for the playoffs. Are we certain that common opponents takes precedent over conference record?
  11. Actually it was 1990 I heard.
  12. How bout them super Chargers? Didn't you say you were King Kong or something if they beat Denver or was that someone else? Packers looked good yesterday
  13. Agreed....where are all the front-running smartas$es who kept asking after week 8: "Where are all the people who wanted John Fox now?"? 4 in a row with their ONLY 3 playmakers on offense injured....amazing.
  14. Well, thankfully I didn't bet the Baltimore game, but get this: 4 game teaser in my office pool. Have to go 4-for-4 and you cash in 10X your bet. I took the Skins, Lions, Pats, and Jags. I ask my co-worker change for a $20 so I can bet my usual $10. He says: "What do I look like a change machine?" OK fine, I'll put down a pultry $2 since it was Friday afternoon and I couldn't wait to leave the office. So now I'm cashing out $20 instead of $100. Fortunately I did win a separate bet on the Skins. Talk about an early Christmas gift. Still can't get over a rookie QB making his 1st road start against the best defense in the conference and the line was +2.
  15. I think the last time our D did that was probably in Miami 2 years ago. Clements was Ray Lucas' favorite receiver that day.
  16. I disagree that this game had all the makings of an upset. True it was on the road vs. a division rival. But we beat a non-conference foe last week, so there was no reason for a letdown. Next week we're playing Cleveland so there was nothing to "look ahead" to. Not exactly a classic trap game. I'll give Miami some credit. We didn't exactly blow them out at home either. 7 turnovers or not, Drew and the offense made plays when they needed to. I will admit it's strange the game was as close as it was with the big turnover advantage. But it was just as strange last week beating a decent team on the road by 29 points despite losing the turnover battle - that's something that's unheard of in the NFL. I'm with you on Bledsoe, but it's a waste of energy to argue at this point. There will be plenty of time to argue that in the offseason, but for now I'll take this win and sidestep the "you're not a bills fan" jabs - the Republican equivalent to "unamerican traitor" labels.
  17. That would apply to Philly just as well. One of the reasons I'm rooting against the Eagles.
  18. I think we match up well vs. Cincy. Today could've been an exception, but we almost always win when scoring 20 points. We should be able to do that against their mediocre defense. Rudi Johnson ain't going to run on us, so Palmer will have to continue his hot streak. 1st year starter at QB + a dangerous WR core means we have to blitz the living hell out of them and pray that the rush gets there in time. McGahee and Schobel will be the 2 biggest keys to that game. I like the McGahee matchup, not sure about the pass-rush.
  19. That's a great point. As I've pointed out before, the Steelers will be more likely to be playing for something on the final weekend than Indy. Out of all the competetion, the Denver scenerio looks like the least promising from a Bills perspective. Assuming the Ravens & Jags lose the road games they're supposed to lose, the onus is really on the Jets to collapse - which is possible.
  20. Is it possible to hate the Pats anymore? It might be, if they lose the ONE time we want them to win. That won't happen though, will it? Personally I see the Jets losing 3, the Ravens losing 2, the Jags 1, I have to admit I'm pumped for the Cincy game. Regardless of how everything plays out, it would be great if that last game vs. Pittsburgh meant something...it'd be the first quasi-playoff game at home in about 8 years. As Frank Gifford would say, "the Ralph will be rocking". Of course, this is one of those rare scenerios where even the pessimists like myself are looking at it in a "glass half full" kind of way because everything is predicated on us winning out. I mean, Ravens and Broncos fans have to be looking at our schedule thinking: "no way they win both Cincy and Pittsburgh".
  21. They didn't show the Moulds TD, the first Evans TD, or the Euhaus TD. What crap
  22. Contrary to what you want to believe I want him to do well. You didn't see me starting "I told you so" threads after the Baltimore game. I didn't feel like beating a dead horse and stating what was so painfully obvious. He DIDN'T play horribly vs. Oakland, Baltimore, and NE? I must be making that up.
  23. Nice game Drew. Now can we please stop the idiotic "I told you so" posts, and the ever-so-predictable "It's only a team game when the Bills lose" routine? This and the Rams game were his only two good/great games. 3 bad games vs. NE, Baltimore, and Oakland. The other 7 games have been very average. You Drew apologists are become more like Flutie Flakes every day and I never thought that was possible.
  24. ??? The Steelers will more likely have something to play for than the Colts on the last weekend.
  25. That's correct. Can't catch the Jets. The Ravens are out with their loss today. They have the Colts & Steelers on the road, which will give them 7 losses. So basically it's all about Denver & Jax. Assuming the Broncos lose today and beat Miami next week, they have to lose 2 of their last 3 games: @KC, @Tennessee, and Indy. Possible, although I have a bad feeling Indy will be locked into the #3 seed before the final weekend and may pack it in. The Jags have to play @GB, but otherwise not a tough schedule, so they have to lose tonight, which I don't think they will. Bottom line = the choke on opening day will cost us a playoff spot, not that we'd have a chance to win @Indy anyway.
