EA Sports has exclusive rights to NFL now
BuffOrange replied to Fezmid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Count me in among those who think this really sucks. EA was already lazy enough as it is by pumping out the same game engine how many years in a row? It's only going to get worse now. None of the flaws in this year's game will be fixed next year. There will still be "Mario running" and there will still be superhuman LB's jumping 400 feet in the air making one handed snags on a ball that was intended for a WR 12 yards behind him. Hopefully somebody other than EA will release a college game next year to satisfy my football fix. -
I don't want to diminish the amazing accomplishment of holding an NFL team to 17 yards, but... We already knew this defense could play at home with the lead against bad teams. Forget Kelsay & Denney - I still want to see Schobel make a play when it matters against New England before I'm ready to say DE doesn't need to be addressed.

Pinkston's "For Who, For What?" moment

Nice gift interference call the Iggles got last night. They're going to get rolled in the SB whoever they play. -
According to Jet fan, Paul Hackett is the only reason they've lost any games in the last 5 years. I'm starting to wonder about Pennington, myself. There is no excuse not to score more points given his solid supporting cast.

After next Sunday we will know
BuffOrange replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Colts and Bolts play each other in week 16. So if the Colts win that game and next week's game, they clinch the #3 seed. They won't be able to get a bye unless NE/Pitt collapses. The Colts have a MUCH MUCH MUCH better chance of resting their starters than the Steelers do. -

Good comments but I disagree with your importance meters. The Jags & Ravens need to lose the most because of their respective schedules. The Jags aren't losing after next week and like you said Balt isn't losing to Miami. Those are both 10/10 IMO. Next is Denver, because the Colts will probably lay down in week 17. That's maybe a 9/10. If I had to live with one of our competitors winning it'd be the Jets, just because they would still have a reasonable chance of losing their last 2 games. -
Honestly, I hate being one of those fans to complain about a "lack of respect" nationally. Three weeks ago I didn't blame them for the lack of highlites. But it is starting to get pretty ridiculous. I don't care how bad the Browns are, if the Cowboys were on a similar streak and held a team to 17 yards they'd be getting about 300% more hype.

I think more-so than your typical game, it is CRUCIAL that we get off to a fast start next week. Two reasons for this: #1 - The Bengals playoff chances are finished, so a good 1st Qtr could demoralize them in addition to taking the crowd out of the come. #2 - We've basically been playing with a "nothing to lose" attitude since the last Jet game. Sure we were mathimatically alive for the playoffs at 2-5, but up until now it has always looked like a longshot. Now the players (like the fans) realize the chances are realistic. If we go into halftime tied or behind on the road, the pressure REALLY starts to mount. That will be the ultimate test of how far this team has really come in the "clutch" department. Personally, I'd rather not find out and just have a lead at halftime. I think we match up well with this team in terms of X's and O's but the above #2 worries me a lot. Got to find a way to get it done, because I honestly believe we can and will beat Pittsburgh if all the chips are on the table.

Get Ready For It Boys and Girls ...

Amen - these threads are such a freaking joke. They contribute nothing other than to provoke the same kind of dissention that the same people B word about. Shut up and enjoy the win. -
Ugh! No help today from Bears or Jints

Gotta love Eli Manning - he's provided a nice 2nd income for me these past 3 weeks. -
Two prayers : Bills win & Jets win.
BuffOrange replied to Losman-McGahee-Evans's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, we can win 3 road games in a row vs. Indy, NE, and Pittsburgh, but please God no don't make us play a Steelers team that's playing for something at our place -
I'm tellin ya - Eli Manning is the greatest thing that's happened to sports this past year for gambling purposes. Lay the Ravens with the 10.

I'm not a big Steve Young fan, but I agree with him when he says "who cares?" any time this topic comes up. The mental aspect of playing QB in the NFL goes way beyond what any fan will ever realize, including myself. It's just a given that you have to be mentally tough to play the position well at that level. If a rough start is going to destroy the confidence for the rest of your career, then you were never cut out to play in the first place. Ryan Leif and Peyton Manning were both "rushed" into the starting lineup their rookie seasons on equally bad teams and they both had lousy rookie years. One turned out to be successful because he's good, the other bombed because he stunk.

Those picks are against the spread, not straight up. I like KC too, which means pick Tenn, because I don't think I've picked a Chiefs game correctly all year. I agree it should be a good weekend for the favorites. I really like the Ravens laying 9.5. It's worked the last two weeks, so I'm going to keep riding this "Eli can't play right now" thing. Especially vs. a good defense on the road. Skins and Ravens back-to-back weeks - yikes. Plus you know the Ravens D is going to be mad after blowing last week's game.

McAllister at Dallas, or Portis vs Philly?
BuffOrange replied to DreamOnDan's topic in Fantasy Football
It is true that Trotter has helped the Eagles run D. But I live in Philly and watch them a lot, so I'm not basing everything on the Pittsburgh game. Everyone here was shocked Ahman Green was shut down last week b/c he got 400 yards on them in 2 games last year. The main reason for them being better this year is their offense has given them big leads in the 1st half. But I can see why you might go with McAllister - perhaps I'm just bitter after playing him last week over Tomlinson -
I love how Pats fans are dishing out fatherly advice. As if they have this superior strategy for being a fan; all because the team they root for happens to have the best coach in the league.

So in reality what can we expect from this game?
BuffOrange replied to ICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I cannot possibly comprehend how anyone can think the Browns are "much better than Miami" at this point. Especially factoring in homefield. If Cleveland played @ Miami this week the Fish would be favored. I've heard Garcia might play, but I don't think it will make much of a difference, especially if the weather is bad. I do think people are getting way too excited about the immediate future of our offense. Special Teams was a huge factor vs. the Rams, and the passing game was pedestrian at best vs. the Cardinals. The last 2 weeks have been good all-around performances, but we're not a lock to put up 38 points every week. 24-10 Bills -

Tough call but I'd go with Portis. The Eagls run D is very average. The Skins D should at least keep them in the game for a half. The Saints have quit and could be down 21-0 at halftime. -
Cool, Drew is going to carry 3 mediocre teams to the SB before winning 2 SB's after we hire a coach who was fired by a division rival (Wanny?) Actually, I was hoping we'd be the next Denver 4 years ago (ie win a SB after firing Wade).

NY Jest 2002?

When did I say that? I expected OK St to win after Cuse struggled against the powerhouse Red Raiders of Colgate. All I said to the Big 12 apologists was "talk to me in March". The only time common opponents should ever be discussed in the NFL is for tie-breaking purposes. The "A beat B and B almost beat C" argument cannot possibly be any more worthless. Palmer impressed me last week, but he has to win this game singlehandily. They won't be able to run it and their D won't stop the run or the pass. Chad Johnson could have a decent fantasy game with some garbage stats, but it will be a 17 pt game after 3 Qtrs. And most importantly NE never EVER takes a game off.
-
That was disheartening, but a few things prevented it from being catostrophic: 1 - Coming off a 3-13 season, not much was expected 2 - We were down by 7 and needed a score just to force OT, which we did via a sweet 4th down TD strike from DB to Moulds. 3 - There's no guarantee we win the game without the kickoff in OT.

I wasn't expecting to "get over it" anytime soon... I said at the time it was right up there with 1998 "just give it to 'em" as the 2 most heartbreaking reg. season games in my 24 yr lifetime, and I still feel that way. It was like a basketball game where you're up by 6 with a minute left and 86 things have to happen to lose, missed foul shots, miracle 3-pointers....that was opening day. Teague had to get called for holding, Clements had to be an idiot, and as the Sports Guy said, the first ever hail marry from the 6 yard line.

Peyton Manning mastercard commercial
BuffOrange replied to justjohn081's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I liked the old Directv commercial the best. Manning was offended when the installation guy told him about Sunday Ticket. "Hey, I like fine arts, gardening". "So do you want the ticket?" "Yeah" Funny stuff - although I'm not sure why he would want the ticket, being kind of busy on Sundays.
