  1. Yeh, hockey is pretty funny like that. Ivan Gorov suffered a "lower body" injury.
  2. He also did the Redskins game that year in Washington. Later that night, I saw him in NJ doing a Nets game. I had never realized Ian Eagle was so important.
  3. I thought my previous 550 posts would give me the benefit of the doubt that I'm not a complete idiot.... Oh well.
  4. It was a joke. I was the one who complained about those "trap game" posts last week.
  5. Vermeil didn't want to draft him in the first place.
  6. Why do so many people not understand the concept of "overrated"? I've never heard anybody say Joey Harrington was any good since he started playing. Nobody has argued Keyshawn is an elite WR since about 1998; and I thought it was common knowledge that he was a 'possession WR'. Dre Bly is certainly overpaid, but he's played pretty well since everyone crucified the contract the Lions gave to him last year. Kevan Barlow and Tebucky Jones? You can't be serious.... It's like saying anchovies are overrated.
  7. That is very unlikely, unless the Bolts beat the Colts in the dome in week 16.
  8. Couldn't agree more on all counts. I don't see us finishing 9-7. It's either 8-8 or 10-6 depending on this Sunday.
  9. Agreed - not with the "shutting them down" part, but.... If we can't beat the Bengals on the road, we're not going to beat the Colts in the playoffs.
  10. yawn..... Cal came within an eyelash of beating a top 2 team on the road. Texas got destroyed by the other top 2 team on a neutral field and couldn't make one play the entire game. I don't care if it was only 6-0 with 8 minutes left, it was obvious to anybody watching that game outside of Austin that Texas was never in that game. While Peterson was rushing for 200 yards, Texas was still trying the "fake handoff QB run from the shotgun" which almost fooled Oklahoma the previous 40 attempts for 3 yards.
  11. Yeh, I am concerned about the Pack playing like crap also. For some reason I have a bad feeling about it. Fortunately, I think that's a bad matchup for Jax. The Packers weakness is their defense, and I don't know if the Jags mediocre offense can exploit that, especially on the road in bad weather. Favre & Green have been off lately, but if they can just play an average game by their standards (not necessarily spectacular) they should win the game.
  12. Unfortunately you are right. We REALLY need the Colts, Pack, and Steelers to hold serve these next couple weeks vs. the Ravens & Jags...then all we have to worry about is the Jets. As for Denver, I think they will lose to either the Chiefs or Titans, but I don't know if they'll lose both. Hopefully McNair will be healthy in a couple weeks.
  13. Yeah, but he was a punt catcher, not a punt returner
  14. The contention that the SB defense was not great can co-exist with the belief that they were still much, much, much, much better than our current offense. As easy as it is for most people to forget just how historically pathetic our offense was for a few years after one good month, I just can't do it.
  15. If 3 teams tie and 2 are in the same division, the first thing they do is break the tie between the teams in the same division. So, it would go to a head-to-head tiebreaker between Denver&Buffalo.
  16. This game will come down to pass-rushing and QB play.
  17. Never said they were. Somebody did say Wright & Kelso were great. Again, Odoms was pretty good but if you take away 2 plays in his career - the int vs. Houston and the strip of Willie Gault on Sunday night would anybody even remember him any differently than Thomas Smith? That is a tough call - by slim margins, I would say Spikes is the best of the 4 and Fletcher is the worst - so it's probably a wash.
  18. Some of you guys just have a blinding love affair with those SB teams. I guess they will always hold a special place in all of our hearts, but c'mon - Kelso and Wright were not great players. Odoms was good at getting picks but he also got burned his share (not that I'm a big Clements fan either). Biscuit was good but overrated. Switch Head Coaches in SB 25 and the Bills win (without needing a last-second FG). That defense had a better pass-rush with Bruce, but the current one is better at everything else. Plus the conference in 1990 was the modern day NFC.
  19. San Diego is the sexy pick to make it to Jacksonville? Who has he been listening to? I haven't heard a single person say that. If anything, they'll be the sexy upset pick to lose at home in the 1st round. Nice article though
  20. This must be the case because if it was a stepping stone, he would be taking a huge irrational risk by taking this job. Remember, Ty Willingham - after his surprisingly successful 1st season in ND - was thought to be a strong prospect for an NFL head coaching job. Now he's got to completely turn around the Washington program to even get a sniff of the NFL. There's no way Weiss would take this job if he didn't want to be there for a while.
  21. Agreed - this game will be decided thru the air. It's fine to control the clock when you have the lead, but when you look at the past couple seasons there have been games where we've run the ball and just not scored enough. I really believe in Ron Jaworski's contention that points come out of the passing game. Maybe I'm not giving enough respect to Rudi Johnson, but I think it's pretty much a given that we shut down their rushing game. However, I still think we could easily lose the game despite limiting them on the ground. The #1 key will be putting pressure on their QB.
  22. I have a bad feeling on this game. It's always impossible to predict how our offense will do on the road. If they put up 30 points again of course we'll win. But they're due to lay an egg on offense, and I just can't see our front 4 getting enough pressure on whichever QB is playing. Fancy blitzing won't result in a field-day for the DB's this time either, b/c Cincy has some weapons. The Bills will also feel more pressure (not QB pressure but mental pressure to win the game) than they have all year and I'm still not sure they respond all that well to pressure situations. I hope to God I'm wrong.
  23. I almost feel bad for the Titans
