Here ya go Bledsoe apologists
BuffOrange replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, it's another way of saying we can't rely on him to do anything on a consistent basis. Admittedly, Manning, Brady, and McNabb are about the only QB's who can both win games and not lose games when called upon, depending on the situation. Favre is unique in that he can win a game and lose a game by himself. Carr won't win many games, but doesn't lose very many either. And then there's Bledsoe. He fails to win games when challenged and fails to 'not lose the game' when it matters. Aside from brief spurts against bad defenses, he's the worst of both worlds. Although I'd obviously prefer a Manning/Brady/McNabb, you can win a SB with the Favres/Carrs of the world providing you have a good supporting cast. I'm afraid with Drew that is not the case - unless you're the '78 Steelers and you have HOF players at every position; or for that matter, the '96 Patriots who had one of the greatest coaching staffs ever assembled to go along with a HOF RB and a very good defense. -
Exhibit A of a Selfish Player
BuffOrange replied to Like A Mofo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Shame on him, and shame on Daryl Johnston for gushing about what a team-player he is. Speaking of Moose, can you stop crying about what an "injustice" it was that he didn't get his rushing title? Have Alexander run against the AFC East all year and give Curtis Martin two cracks at everybody in the NFC West, and see what happens. -
Had the Bills won, would Jets have won?
BuffOrange replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You may be right. If you look at it that way, all we did was cost the Saints a playoff spot and get some hilarious post-game commentary from Jim Haslett in the process. -
Parker's 58 yard run reminds me of Nottingham
BuffOrange replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am too young for that, but it sounds a lot like the "helmet out of bounds" OT game vs. NE in 2001 as well. Another horrible replay ruling, followed by a big Antowain Smith run. -
Those games in September count, too. I dunno, I don't think "quitting" in the NFL is as popular as others I guess. Look at what the Browns did yesterday, and the way the Saints - who have a repuation for quitting - finished the season. Miami played hard the entire year. Some teams are just better than others. To me, playing hard is the bare minimum a professional team can do, and not worthy of an ovation.

I don't feel like writing a long post write now, but in my head I was just ranking Drew's results on a scale of 1 to 5 for each game this year. The only games he graded out CLEARLY above average in my view, were the Rams, Dolphins, and 49ers. Does anyone disagree with that? For the games the Bills won without him having to do much (Cincy, Jets) I gave him a 3, and I did the same for the games they didn't score enough points but limited their mistakes (Jags, Jets). If anything, I think that's being generous. I don't see anything promising about a healthy 12 year veteran having 2 good games (Rams&49ers), 1 great game (Miami), 4 atrocious games (Raiders, Pats, Ravens, Steelers) and 9 mediocre games.

The Bills fell for the same thing all...
BuffOrange replied to Justice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Guess what - the Steelers DID roll over for us. That's why they put their backups in for the entire 2nd half. I didn't expect 3rd stringers who were possibly playing for their future careers to not play hard, I just expected our 1st string to be better than them. -
Has there been a worse regular season loss
BuffOrange replied to Like A Mofo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was actually more depressed after the Jags game, beacuse I thought we were the better team in that game; plus I was so excited for the season. As for this game I had the "If we can't beat backups at home we don't deserve it" attitude. But if you define "worst loss" to mean "embarassing" and "inexcusable" then I agree - this one takes the cake. -
Yeh, the Giants aren't even in the playoffs
-
I'm sure chartered 'Drew Nation' members will think that's harsh, but aside from the fact that he played great vs. Miami this year, that's actually a pretty accurate summary.
-
I don't want to sound like a prick, but how come those of us who pointed this out 2 weeks ago were called traitors? It's been obvious since midseason 2002 that DB cannot play. Unfortunately, hoping for a good, veteran QB to become available is a little like fans of a baseball team who crave a good left-handed pitcher...it's easier said than done; and Warner certainly does not qualify at this point in his career. The only hope is to pray that Losman develops relatively quickly. It would've been better to get him experience this year, but oh well, we had to chase that pipe-dream of winning 3 road playoff games against superior competition after the improbable scenerio of even making it that far.

Who are you rooting for in the playoffs?
BuffOrange replied to joshfitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've been on the Chargers bandwagon for a while. They remind me a lot of the Panthers last year. Just really underrated - everyone thought I was nuts when I said they'd beat the Rams & Eagles last year. Of course, the competition in the AFC is much tougher this year, but I think they can beat the Steelers in the 2nd round and make the championship game. Plus, I really like Brees&Tomlinson, and even Marty. -
Yeah, that was the exact same situation. Down by 8 with 2 minutes left vs..... Up by 1 w/ a chance to go up 4 against a team that's been kicking FG's all day.

Loss had zero to do with steelers....
BuffOrange replied to Boatdrinks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perhaps you forgot that Willis was stuffed earlier on a 3rd & 1. True - that was a good drive - but a lot of that momentum was taken away on the questionable interference penalty on Reed. As shaky as Lindell is, you've got to assume he can make a 28 yarder. A 4 pt lead also would've been significant since the Steelers were kicking FG's all day. I do agree that according to my definition of "choking" - this game was worse than any of the SB's. -
Back From Game - A Wakeup Call For Our Fans
BuffOrange replied to Mark VI's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree but unfortunately, I don't see Bledsoe & Lindell leaving. I think they're both like sons to Donahoe. I realize people in his position have to be PC, but if you've been reading "Ask him yourself" this season, you can read between the lines - he becomes particularly defensive when those subjects come up - meaning he actually makes counterpoints like a fan would, rather than just dodging the question like a politician. -
No - it didn't just happen in my view - check the archives. I was never among those who thought he was God after a few wins.

Praying for Moulds to stay in Buffalo
BuffOrange replied to thisiskeith12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed...I'm sick of his candy ass looking for a flag every time he drops an easy pass and talking trash after 4 yard catches - he's the kind of guy I'd hate if he were on another team and not because he's unstoppable. -
Not a typical Buffalo finish. Pre Donahoe/Bledsoe, this once proud franchise would never lose to 2nd stringers in a must-win game at home. Maybe they'd find a way to lose in Indy next week in heartbreaking fashion, but the season ending the way it did couldn't have been more embarassing.

Who do you think is going to win the AFC?
BuffOrange replied to crackur's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The 2nd round should be a great weekend of football. If the home teams hold serve in the wildcard round, you'd have SD-Pitt, and Indy-NE. I think the Chargers can upset the Steelers; while the Colts-Pats outcome probably depends on how healthy NE is by then defensively. If the Pats beat the Colts I see them going all the way again. If the Colts win that game, then I think they lose to the Chargers in the AFC title game. -
Prisco callin Bills fans wagon jumpers!!!
BuffOrange replied to Hawk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Couldn't have said it any better... Why anyone would use 'conference record' as a barometer for comparing the relative strength of 2 or more teams is baffling... It's bad enough the NFL uses such an arbitrary stat for tie-breakers. -
Anyone Else Think It's 5th Seed or Out
BuffOrange replied to ubhockey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I sort of agree with your "5th seed or out" premise. However, I'm not so sure SD is a much better matchup than Indy. The Chargers have been underestimated by everyone including Vegas all year (and won me a lot of $). If that game was played in SD last week the Chargers win. Plus, I think the Bills personnel-wise are very similar to Jacksonville (2 mammoth DT's, no dominant pass-rusher, smashmouth offense, pocket QB) and the Jags matched up well w/ the Colts this year; not so well with the Bolts. -
Good article....I think they're stealing from my post yesterday. http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showt...04entry183804

Normally I don't listen to the "experts" at ESPN
BuffOrange replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Flip-flopping frontrunners. They're saying we'll make it and win a game - but I'll bet you $500 they pick the Colts to win if we play them. -
Syracuse is finally firing Coach P

That's why you need to make Week 16 your championship game. Assuming they get equal playing time, I would go with Brees over Favre, but I haven't heard anything on what the Chargers plan to do; although I would think Schottenheimer wants to beat his old team. I would probably go with the Bucs' just to be safe (Griese & Clayton).
