  1. Exactly... I didn't realize the Eagles hired Gregg Williams.
  2. Haha - even if I felt tempted to do that, I would avoid doing it to at least pretend like I have a life.
  3. Not a regular reader are ya? Relatively speaking, I didn't find anything special about that particular passage. I think he's the funniest guy in all of media. My favorite quote of the last month was: "Where can I sign up for a no-limit hold 'em tournament with Marty Schottenheimer and Herman Edwards?"
  4. That was pretty funny... "Leon was so excited about the possibility of scoring a TD, he forgot he wasn't in the endzone. That was just a shame, because he had worked so hard to get there". I wonder if he was saying this with a straight face during recording sessions.
  5. I actually brought this up last week... While I'm usually not on the whole "respect" or "us against the world" bandwagon crap, I have to agree in this case. It's disapointing that an otherwise intelligent Steve Sabol would pull such a shameless, garbage stunt. FYI - it has nothing to do with ESPN.
  6. I'm on the fence about this. As usual, it would depend on $. On one hand, Surtain is a fine player; better than his more harolded counterpart Madison. And I'm not a big Clements fan, so I won't shed a tear if we don't re-sign him. On the other hand, "the best secondary in the NFL" and $1.50 is good for a cup of coffee without a pass-rush and an offense that can score consistently. If there's one thing we should've learned the last couple years, it's that. Also, re: McGee - he's NOT a "huge injury risk" just because he returns punts. When was the last time anybody got seriously hurt returning punts? Jason Seahorn, 5 years ago?
  7. I liked superspike V-ball and Goal. Which team did you pick in superspike? We always took the guys in green shorts that spiked the best. I thought I had beaten the game after playing the Navy, then there was the U.S.S.R., and you were never sure who the last game was against.
  8. Yeh, we know that because he played so well on the road that year against formidable defenses. Seattle...ugghhh, never mind, their defense stunk but we still got destroyed Baltimore....ugghhh, thank God for Tony Banks we won that game. Indy opening day....ughhh - and their defense stunk but we still got destroyed Miami - the only decent team we beat away from home, thanks to Marino being washed up and a ton of turnovers by our D. And the Giants home game when NY was missing their entire starting secondary and Midget produced nothing against a lousy team and lost a late-season game....that was impressive too. Note: I'm not defending RJ. There is just NOTHING the Midget did to indicate we would've been ahead by 2 scores with a minute left against the best team in the AFC on the road. NOTHING This is my last post on this subject.
  9. That's exactly what I would say. According to Bill Simmons' 5 year grace period rule, you wouldn't be allowed to complain until next season, 2005. I'm a diehard SU fan and I used to be a Boeheim detractor, but I'm going to keep my mouth shut at least until 2009.
  10. Another thing about Punch-Out... Remember that Russian guy "Soda Popinsky"? He was always drinking "soda" in between rounds? Although I was too young to realize it at the time, what a hilarious character that was. I guess the conservative climate of the Cold War made it ok to be non-PC.
  11. Interesting, I never realized that. I thought he had some sort of twitch before his punches; but it was just a lot more subtle than the other boxers. I always found Macho Man a pain in the @ss too; I think I only beat him once or twice.
  12. I have a friend from H.S. who lives far away who I only see a couple times a year; and we hook up the old NES about once per year. Mike Tyson's punch-out and Ice Hockey are just incredible games. In fact, I had always heard of people beating Tyson and just assumed they were all lying. I never saw it with my own 2 eyes until a couple of years ago - about 15 years after I stopped playing the game. It wasn't quite the Bills winning the SB, but a thrill I never expected to see in my lifetime nevertheless. Ice Hockey was a fine art as well. Picking the right mix of fat/skinny/medium guys required a high level of expertise. And yes, I'm 24 years old in case you were wondering.
  13. Couldn't agree more. Just watch the Bills-Cowboys game from last year. Drew was blitzed on EVERY damn play. It's clear Tuna has no respect for him as a QB.
  14. Yeh, I got a little fired up today watching the Bills D stuff Emmitt Smith on 3rd down to force a FG re: the 1st SB - I remember reading an article about Bellichek telling his players that Kelly was going to want to be the hero in his 1st SB; hence the 2 man front. Generally Kelly was pretty unselfish throughout his career calling plays, but there's no getting around the fact that he f*cked up that game.
  15. Yeh, I'll agree with that. I couldn't reach for my remote fast enough when I heard the words "Jimmy Johnson" and "narrarate" in the same sentence. I mean, you CAN'T be serious. It was either the remote control, or a rope and the nearest ledge.
  16. That may all be true, but you have to admit Steve Sabol is a genius. I really think NFL Films a contributing factor in the NFL blowing away all of the other sports. I mean, I'm only 24 and I have all 38 SB's pretty much memorized. It's hard to put it into words. There''s just something very powerful about the slowmotion footage of a players breath showing in the cold weather, the dirty jersey's, and that guy's voice.
  17. Come on man, do you really think that the most mentally tough team in all of sports is "rattled" by this? Freddie "all talk and no walk" Mitchell popped off at the mouth; a bunch of reporters told the Patriots what he said, and a few players reacted to it. I doubt any of the Patriots actually brought it up themselves. I'm usually not a "media is evil" guy - but SB week is pretty ridiculous - there's a lot of hacks looking for stories to print.
  18. Good post - I agree. The Drew apologists will scream "I told you so" if we don't win 10+ games with JP, but we couldn't make the playoffs w/ Bledsoe with the #2 defense and #1 Special Teams. I don't see the difference between 9-7 missing the playoffs and 7-9 missing the playoffs. That is the worst case scenerio assuming that we get worse production out of the QB position than last year, which I doubt. The risk does not even come close to matching the potential reward.
  19. Fisher class of '02 I remember Thirsty's. Our Econ Prof. took us there for the last day of class. I only majored in Econ because their proffesors were the best. Hovey was the man.
  20. VaBills fan is correct - it's one of 3 games 'Nova is playing at the 76ers arena which makes it more expensive. I ordered my tickets online at ticketmaster, and they came to $42 each. You're right it's pretty ridiculous and I'm an idiot, but I couldn't pass it up since Cuse hasn't played down @ Nova in a while. The only previous Cuse road game I went to, they lost to Rutgers the year they won the title! I'm hoping since this game isn't on campus, they will serve beer, which I was shocked to learn they don't do anywhere but Syracuse on campus.
  21. Everyone forgets, Denver over GB was a huge upset too. The NFC had won about 50 in a row, GB was the defending champ, coming off a win in SF, and Denver was a wildcard team.
  22. I'm with you... Not only is E-A-G-L-E-S the dumbest, gayest, most annoying chant ever... Not only is TO "will he or won't he" the most boring, fruitless debate ever since they're going to lose either way... Not only are their fans vaginas disguised as tough guys who can't handle an inch of snow... Not only is McNabb's "everybody doubted us (even though we were 5 pt favorites)" postgame interview routine tiresome... Not only did they have the easiest path to the SB in NFL history in a JV conference... Did I mention their fans suck? Go Pats... I wish I was joking...
  23. Artie is great. How can you not relate to a fat, gambling, drunken sports fanatic. Baba Booey and Fred are good too. Robin sucks. "Look at me - I'm going to pretend like I have some individuality by arguing with Howard about stupid crap nobody cares about, like: 'how old do you think Sarah the model' is, but anytime Howard gets into a serious debate, I'm just going to lick his ass and blindly agree". Kill yourself
  24. Great win for Cuse. Obviously they have to shoot FT's better, but I'm telling you - I hate cliches, but there really are no easy road games in the Big East. I really think it's as good as the ACC contrary to what the ESPN propoganda says; I mean look at how Villanova destroyed Kansas. That was a heart-racer though. I'm gonna have a tough time falling asleep after that.
