  1. How about the announcer saying 3 times: "Wait a minute now, lets see if actually held on to this ball!" Huh? Was that not like the cleanest catch EVER?
  2. I agree with that.
  3. There are lots of color guys who do that. If I'm a play-by-play guy I'd want to strangle my partner if he were one of those guys. Play-by-play guys live and dream about calling big plays. Color guys need to learn to shut up until the play is over.
  4. I'll eat crow when we make the playoffs. I'm one who thinks the season is pretty much shot with 3 losses and a brutal schedule in front of us. I'm also 5-1 picking Bills games, only because I was too optimistic about the Atlanta game.
  5. I hate people who slow down for accidents and I get annoyed with people obsessing over the Viking situation. Coincidence or no?
  6. - McGahee has been awesome since Mularkey called him out. Maybe it's a coincidence. I'm just sayin. - I haven't been one to jump on the "B word about the playcalling" bandwagon becuase your passing game has to make plays in this league. I had a problem with it today for the first time this year. The Jets clearly had no answer for the running game, and there was no reason to run a reverse on 1st down up 14-0, or throw the ball to Shelton on 3rd&1 up 27-17, or throw deep up 14-3 with 2 minutes left in the half. - The Jets coaching isn't exactly brilliant themselves. Is it me or have they been the only team in the league that hasn't consistently put 8+ in the box against us for the last 3 years? - Josh Reed & Lee Evans threw some sweet blocks, on the Moulds TD and another Moulds first down, which was amazingly not mentioned once by the announcers. Shelton did a great job in blitz pickup on one of those plays as well. - For the 2nd week in a row, our defense let a crappy offense drive 90 yards for a TD in our stadium when we had a chance to almost ice the game away. Not really a good sign. - Hard to believe people actually rip Sam Adams. I shutter to think about our DL without him. Hell, he might even be our best pass-rusher. He handed Denney one of his sacks on a silver platter. - Tim Anderson is....well, he's not a good player. - I think Milloy is better in coverage than he is in run support. I'd like to see more blitzes from the corners. - Seems like there's a lot more to lose than there is to gain with these early season home division games. It's huge that we won them, but still, I have a hard time getting excited about a 1st place tie when we've played 2 more home games than NE. - Just heard Herm's press conference. He's a class act. I'm not sure if our pass-rush is as good as the Jets reporters seem to think though. - One of the things that sucks about Sunday Ticket is that it caused me to miss both of McGee's good kick returns. Nice job though, I guess. Kudos to Lindell again as well.
  7. Doh - another disappearing act by the Dallas D in the final minute costs me a .500 week. That and Tommy Maddox. At least the Chargers sucker bet paid off and I didn't fall for the Atlanta/Carolina/Cleveland traps that everybody liked.
  8. Yes I agree - that possession gets overlooked too much. We put the game away with a score there.
  9. It's a pretty damn good backfield for a 12 team league.
  10. SD off a short week and Oakland off a bye I think has something to do with it. I think Atlanta -5 @ Saints may be the most popular "Wow Easy $!" game this week where everyone loses money. I personally have a rule about never betting on or against the Saints.
  11. I had a nice 4-0 day last week hitting the Bills, Jets, Cowboys & Jags. 4-1 picking Bills games this year, don't like this week's game at all because the 3 pt spread is right on IMO. There are a few other 3 pt spreads in favor of the home team this week that I kinda like. Pittsburgh -3 vs. Jacksonville - even with Tommy Maddox, I don't think the Jags are as good on neutral field, so a little surprised to see the line so low. The Jags run D ranks surprisingly at the bottom despite their great DT tandem. Dallas -3.5 vs. NYG - This Giants team is grossly overrated IMO because they have a few good fantasy players and they've played more crappy teams at home (3) than anybody in the league. If you're a trenches guy, the Cowboys are better on both sides of the line. Also I think the letdown effect for Dallas will be minimal because of the Parcells factor and they should be motivated enough after getting swept by the Giants last year. NE +3 @ Denver - Hard to knock Denver because they have more quality wins than anybody so far this year - but NE is just a better football team. Jake Plummer is also due for a Jake Plummer sort of game. SD -2 @ Oakland - Looks like a trap game, but the Black Hole is just a grossly overrated advantage as the Raiders pretty much suck in these home division games year after year. The bad news is that the general public seems to agree with me on most of these games, unlike last week.
  12. Nah he eventually showed up in the "second half" of the show.
  13. Yeah, I thought it was interesting how he specifically pointed out "WR's" instead of a vague statement like "the rest of the offense". GM rips WR's, Coach rips RB. Our QB & OL are clearly strong points.
  14. Agreed...NFL refs have tougher jobs but I still think they're worse. The worst thing about the baseball game last night was the bold faced lies by the ump and his boss after the game. "I didn't call him out" (he did). "The replay was inconclusive" (it wasn't). Good God, admit you screwed up.
  15. Yeah, the soundbites from the sidelines from the coaches & players on that show are great. I can live without the 5 replays of the same plays in slow-motion along with full blown orchestra, but that's probably just because they were featuring a Patriots win....again.
  16. Doh I like Eisen too, but Terrell Davis? I guess I don't hate him, he just seems a little like Tom Jackson in that he brings nothing to the table. Basically the only show worthwhile IMO is Edge matchup with Hodge & Jaworski...everything else I watch is mostly because I have no life.
  17. I just sat thru an hour of Lincoln Kennedy and Rod Woodson, who make Dan Marino and Boomer Esiason look like good analysts... No TD
  18. I don't know if anybody considers SD a model organization. And the fact that they kinda gave up on Brees too soon is pretty irrelevant with respect to evaluating their 2001 draft... All I'm saying is that John Butler did a pretty god job in that draft, and that trade worked out for them.
  19. I don't remember exactly what yardline they were on, but I think the "what if they miss the XP" stuff is kinda dumb. A 6 pt lead is the absolute best possible margin for an intentional safety in the final minute and it's not even close. Think about it.
  20. You are absolutely correct. All of this whining about playcalling is a bunch of crap and it's the most overhyped complaint ever. Convert a 3rd down once in a while, and Willis will get more carries. It's not that complicated.
  21. Well Vick is a lot better than you think, but the Chargers also got Brees as part of that deal so yeah, Butler did pretty well in that draft.
  22. I for one am outraged that the "rate this story" feature has only received 2 stars.
  23. For the record, I am 4-1 this year only missing the Atlanta game. I have no gut feel for the first time this year. Official prediction will be later in the week, but I am leaning toward the Bills.
  24. I don't understand why Gray blitzed Vick as much as he did, but the fact is he has to blitz Vinny. If he doesn't then nobody is going to sack, pressure, hurry, or "flush vinny out of the pocket", because our front 4 isn't good enough. They couldn't pressure Ferrotte, and the Jets OL is much better than Miami's.
