I hope the Bills aren't overlooking the Raiders
BuffOrange replied to ofiba's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're right - I've never seen such a bunch of overconfident knuckleheads about a game in which their team was UNDERDOGS as if the other team isn't even going to show up since....well, since Dolphins fans 2 weeks ago; but it still annoys the hell out of me when I see it from my fellow Bills fans. This makes absolutely zero sense. They're playing a division rival - the defending champion last week....at home coming off a bye, other team off a short week....They were 1-3. How in God's name are they not "pumped" last week? Was that not their season on the line? Unfortantely I have a sick feeeling that you are right. Knowing the Raiders it'll be "Oh hell, those home division games don't mean anything.....Buffalo - now there's our Super Bowl". Jackasses. -
Why Didn't Willis Carry The Ball This Much..
BuffOrange replied to Mark VI's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Please sticky this. Please? Somebody? It is the most painfully obvious observation ever and yet so refreshing to read that SOMEBODY on this board has some degree of sanity. -
I don't think our coaches are going to "save" a slot WR to avoid future opponents' film study on him because we're playing a desparate team that sucks slightly more than us in a road game where we're underdogs. If he's ready, play him.

Yup, a QB who can move the chains on 3rd&6 helps a lot. MM said as much. True, but to be fair, the Jets were about the only team in the league that didn't put 8+ in the box against us last year or the year before. It's just not something they like to do for some reason. We're going to see lots of 8-man fronts the rest of the year, and how well Holcomb handles it will be the key to the season IMO. -
In that case goodbye Nate and hello line upgrade (either side). I'd like somebody younger than Vincent though. Most of the black guys on our D seem to be pretty old.

Is this a joke?

To me it really doesn't depend on how much better Clements is than McGee. I think if we can find another CB as good as McGee (or if Eric King develops into a good player) for cheap, then goodbye Nate. If the alternative is starting a Chris Watson type player opposite McGee, then I guess you have to break the bank for Clements.

Peter King is a deuchebag, but I cannot name 5 teams better than NE. I think we would be 1-5 if we played their schedule so far.

Ransom observations on the game
BuffOrange replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess I missed that subtle piece of creativity. Are you sure Scott & Carpentar played the whole way? I thought one of them got hurt as well. Perhaps you are right and Bill Mass made their situation a much bigger deal than it actually was. If so, my fault for believing him after he referred to Elway's 'the drive' as happening on "this field right here" last week (they were in Denver and I could've sworn that game was in Cleveland). In any case it doesn't change the big picture that the Jets and Dolphins are every bit as good as Atlanta defensively and certainly better than the Saints. I saw Lenny P's scouts rip apart the ATL starting safties last week, and it looks like they had another lousy game vs. the Aints this week. -

Well here are the facts: Hall's backup Alan Rossum was also injured so they WERE going with their 3rd string CB on that side for some time. The other starting CB Jason Webster was also injured, so they were down to a total of 3 CB's. So a better Bills analogy would be Clements out for a half, as well as Kevin Thomas (or Eric King or whoever) AND Terrance McGee out for the whole game. If you're going to be smug at least be right. -
I'll be there too - good luck. 9 years ago I went to my first game - also against the Chiefs. It was Kelly's last game and the Bills won to get into the playoffs. The following week never actually happened as far as I'm concerned.

Inability to stop the run: where's the problem?
BuffOrange replied to TPS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great job Kelso. I agree completely. I love Milloy but yeah this year he has been tackling like, well....Mark Kelso. Can somebody give me the short version of FFS's rebuttal? -
I will admit I hold my breath every time he throws those lobs to the sideline, but the Jets were not close to picking them off yesterday, and until somebody does you have give the benefit of the doubt. The 3rd Qtr int looked like it was just a misread on a curl route; didn't have anything to do with arm strength.

A Few Thoughts About The Game....

I still think Denney sucks. His first sack was all Sam Adams. -
Seriously. Dude has been awesome this year.

How big are these next 2 games before bye week?
BuffOrange replied to Takeo_14's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's going to be a real tough game, but the fact is it's by far the most winable road game left on the schedule and if we lose the last 2 weeks are pretty much for naught. On the plus side, Oakland's homefield is incredibly overrated as I said last week and I don't think Holcomb will be rattled. Seems like he played a lot better away from home when he was in Cleveland, or maybe I'm confusing him with Couch. -

Or like saying "the turnovers helped us score points yesterday" or like "the offense didn't take advantage of the turnovers they got yesterday". Yeah, that's accurate. Also, some NFL teams have been known to send more than one WR out on a route and the QB actually has options as to where he wants to throw the ball. Hard to believe, I know. Defenses also gameplan differently for different QB's. It's possible that those WR screens are available more with Kelly in there. That doesn't mean the offensive playcalling is any different either. A lot of those are called at the LOS when the CB is playing off. God you're full of yourself. -

Then what was with the announcer saying every 5 minutes: "And here comes ANOTHER guy who wasn't even on the practice squad 2 weeks ago into the game"? In any case the Jets defense is as good as Atlanta's, and I think they'll prove it a week from tonight. -

I really don't think that's correct. -

I give JP a mulligan for the Tampa game. He played horrible against a horsecrap Saints defense and a practice squad Atlanta secondary. Miami & Jets have a better defense than what both of those teams put on the field and it's not even really close. It wasn't. Open your eyes. Yes it was. Open your eyes. That's horsecrap. The Crowell int was a huge play, but getting the ball at our 18 yard line didn't put 7 points on the ball....moving the ball 82 yards gave us 7 points. That and the last turnover came with 3 minutes left when the Jets had no timeouts and we're trying to run out the clock. I'd love to know how that consititues as "not taking advantage of turnovers". Watch games much? I think we can agree that the defense won the Houston & Miami games with turnovers, and our QB didn't have to do much. Never minding the fact that Miami is much better than Houston, we can say those games cancel each other out. Again I give JP a mulligan for the Tampa game. This season is going to come down to winning those 'coin-flip' type games vs. the Jets/Falcons/Saints/Raiders/Panthers of the league. The Jets with their struggles not withstanding are a much better defense than the Saints, and even Atlanta given they played a 3rd string secondary against us. I am done here because I feel like I'm arguing a Rob Johnson backer in 2000....they'll make any excuse they can just to try and show they weren't completely wrong even though they KNOW they're full of it; "Wah the running game", "Wah, the opponent", "Wah, the defense", "Wah, the playcalling", "Wah, wah, wah". -

You're a fine poster but you can get ridiculously defensive and stubborn at times. Some of that is true, some of it is bull. Yeah, the Dolphins helped us win last week. I could've sworn Tampa didn't do much vs. our defense in the 1st Qtr and I'm not sure what field position has to do with going 3 & out all the time. Thinking that the play-calling was any better today than it was in any other game is incredible results-oriented hindsight thinking. Again, the turnovers had nothing to do with scoring 27 points today. It is possible that we called some short passes with JP in there and he didn't execute them as well, unless I was imagining all of those 5 yard outs that looked like they were intended for a cheerleader. For a WR to turn a 4 yard completion into a TD, somebody still has to get him the ball first. -

BuffOrange replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like what? As key as the 3 turnovers were today, none of them really helped us score points. One was an int at our own 18 yard line, the other 2 were at a point where we're trying to run out the clock. JP had a running game and field position via turnovers plus a horsecrap 3rd string secondary vs. Atlanta and he couldn't do squat. -
Bills/Jets Over-Under is at 33.
BuffOrange replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know about "big time". 1-3 isn't good, but I was a late Dallas defensive breakdown and 1 of any 164 Tommy Maddox screw-ups from 3-1, but them the breaks. -

Yeah, the Panthers are phenominal as road dogs vs. good teams. I don't trust them as favorites vs. mediocre teams. They didn't play very well in Miami or Arizona either. -

I guess. They opened at -1 and closed at -2 or 3 I think.
