Who are the top five teams in the NFL?
BuffOrange replied to ATBNG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. Indy 2. Pittsburgh 3. San Diego 4. Denver 5. Carolina Best Sleeper: Washington - pretty good balance. They can run, throw, and usually play defense. They've played a ton of tough road games this year and got screwed this past week. Most overrated: NYG - Eli isn't very accurate, defense is shakey, plus they've played like 10 home games already. -
End of thread.

That must be why the Patriots defense in 2 postseason games scored more TD's than their opponents' offense that postseason. 28-3 over Pittsburgh - Drew had 1 nice deep throw to Glenn, but had mediocre stats, Martin ran for 200 yards and the Pats D dominated. Not bad - this was BY FAR the best postseason game of his career, and he was very very average. Jacksonville they were beating 13-6 deep into the 4th Qtr (the same Jags defense that was lit up by a washed up Jim Kelly in his final game) before NE's defense iced the game with a TD, final score 20-6. That was followed by Drew doing nothing in the '97 playoffs with a low-scoring, defensive TD scoring win over Miami, and a 7-6 0 offensive TD performance in Pittsburgh in 1997. Thanks for playing though.

So I guess the Scott Linnehan honeymoon is over. That was quick. How much $ is Chris Chambers making? Catch the ball.

Yeah, in poker terms a Philly pick last night was a "bad beat". But as you said that is gambling, and it's why it is just about impossible to win. It's also human nature to "forget" the times you "suck out" with a lucky win. -
Yeah, so chances would be zilch. Standings are so misleading - with NE's front-loaded schedule and ours backloaded, we needed to have at least a 2 game lead at the midway point to have any chance. The Saints & Raider games were the season and there's just no getting aroudn it.

Not unless JP comes out and says "I will not play for that organization". That's the only way to get Charger fan worked up.

I'm not the one crying about it. Also, I can't help but marvel at the "non-insult factual gems" in this post: Anyway (yes - transitional word) these semantics have been fun, but I must go now, and hopefully talk actual football. Please join us next week when Bill Clinton joins us to discuss the definition of the word "is".

Fixed your post.

Q) Why did you cut out the rest of my post regarding the ACTUAL GAME and focus on the 1 Bledsoe sentence, then post a reply with absolutely zero content other than an empty insult? A) You're obsessed with Drew and you want to have his babies. Q) Based on what, is a prediction of Drew's bad play when it matters late in the season, "idiotic"? A) Not based on any season since 1996.

Occasionally - that's usually my cue to point out that Philly has the same number of SB wins as the Bills, they've been there 2 less times, and they've choked away homefield twice. You & Campy must be a blast to work with. I will now humbly go back to kissing the feet of any fan from any team that has a better record than the Bills in 2005, if that is ok with you sir.

You must be thinking of 2002. His crumbling in 2003 started in Week 3 and lasted the entire season. I saw that brain dead look a lot last night - not sure what you were watching. Big game on the road - hey - he played better than I thought, but that has to do more with my incredibly low expectations than it has to do with him actually playing well. I'll give him credit for not screwing up enough so that the game wasn't out of reach for his defense to win. But he scored 14 pts and helped the Eagles score 7 against a defense that has been struggling mightily. Fez - I know you'd defend Bledsoe at all costs before your own mother, but we all know that by now - you don't have to cut out posts, take them out of context, and post lame 1-liners with zero point/content to prove it.

I like Madden, but for every one of those examples there are hundreds of times where a FG that puts a team up by 13 holds up for a W. There is a big difference between needing a TD & FG and 2 TD's in the final minutes. The turning point was the Glenn TD. After that, you could absolutely sense the nervousness in the crowd before the int - like they KNEW something Buffaloesque was about to happen - which is odd for a team that has dominated its division for so long. Anyway, it's disappointing that I have to hold off on the "I told you Bledsoe sucks" comments to my Dallas friends (not that he won the game tonight) but that only delays the inevitable and I get to laugh at annoying Iggle fans at work tommorow.

Peter King on Nate Clements
BuffOrange replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've never thought he was "the best" nor am I fan of his celebrations, but he is a complete player. McGee is just as good at covering the deep ball, but he gets beat a lot more often on the intermediate/post stuff than Clements. Other than the Oakland game, I think they've both done a fine job when you consider they've been left on an island without a real good pass-rush. -

I was also at the Ralph. I don't remember what Qtr it was, but did you miss the 3rd down play where Chris Horn came back for a hitch pass and an apparant easy 1st down before Nate made a perfectly timed break on the ball? -
Really? I know he made the 4th down play to preserve the Jets game, but he has struggled a lot in my estimation.
-
I don't think they're much different this year. Not a good matchup for us. Not that anybody is a good matchup for us away from home.
-
It was good to be there in person so I didn't have to listen to him. Next year I hope CBS sends out a memo ahead of time listing which games Cross will do, so I can buy tickets for all of those games.

And at least 2 clips.

On 1st and 10, 2 minute warning - KNEEL!
BuffOrange replied to Fezmid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was inexplicable. Were they trying to lose the game, get Willis injured, or both? -
I love it when the Sports Guy makes up odds for "which Mike gets fired first". The standings now look like this: Tice Sherman Holmgren Mularkey Shannahan Does Martz count? Has he officially been fired yet? Can we get an official ruling on this?
-
Wow what a bunch of crap. Alstott didn't get in.

Most people are with you. Then again, most people thought Philly -3 in the 1st meeting in Dallas was a ridiculously low spread and picked the Eagles romp in that one. Most people also put way too much stock into the previous 2-3 games when handicapping these games. It's kind of a stock market game - I would "buy" the Eagles right now because they're just not as bad as the public perceives them to be right now. And yes - as much as Bledsoe apologists don't want to hear it - 2nd half season big game on the road IS a huge factor - classic choking opportunity for him. The only thing that worries me re: Philly in this game is that the homefield could be negated if they don't get off to a fast start because the crowd will be really impatient and start booing like crazy if they go 3&out on their first possession. -
Losman and it's not close.

I thought I alluded to that, but I guess not.
