  1. I agree with your first 3 points and the fact that he stretches things to make his point - for example - he never points out blitzes that work, or "safe" defenses that get burned. But I do agree with him that punting from inside the 40 is usually "Dawgged". The fact that those punts were downed or went out of bounds inside the 10 is results-oriented and really doesn't matter. Before you punt you have to realize there's at least a 50/50 chance of it resulting in a touchback and a mere 15-18 yards net.
  2. Yes, it was from the 32 and we were trailing 17-3. Bellicheck went for it in the same situation on the following possession and they scored a TD.
  3. Since the offense scored a combined 37 points in those 3 games, I'd say they were very fortunate to win 1 of them. I also love how his gravy training 2004 performance singlehandily negates 2003, 2002, 2000, and 1999.
  4. Is that Canton, Montana, or Canton, Washington?
  5. I'm strongly considering quitting my career as a sports fan.
  6. Yep - maybe we beat either the Saints or Falcons. No way in hell we would've beaten the Chargers, Pats, Raiders, or Bucs.
  7. I agree. I can't say I'm as surprised as you. When you lose Pat Williams, Takeo Spikes, and essentially Sam Adams, that's 3 of our 4 best players on the front 7 from last year. The only decent player left is Fletcher.
  8. I was talking straight up - there's no way I'm touching the spread. But yeah, that line is higher than I expected. Thought it'd be maybe 2.
  9. I'm not the type to get too up after a win or too down after a loss. I felt pretty good about the Rams game last year, the Chiefs & Dolphins games this year when everyone asked "How can we be favored?" I think for the first time all season though, I'm gonna pick to lose at home. Carolina's not a good matchup and they're gonna be pissed.
  10. Can somebody explain why everyone's chalking up Miami as a win? Remember that game we barely won despite playing our veteran QB at home when the other team turned the ball over 6 times and set a franchise record for penalties? That happened right? It wasn't a dream of mine?
  11. Bleh, Evans is a good player, 9 TD's last year. Moulds has become a possession WR and he's overpaid granted, but he's not washed up yet. We don't know about Parrish yet. Hell I'm pretty sure Freddy Smith & Sam Aiken are better than most teams' 5th & 6th WR's. They could be better but in the grand scheme of things it really doesn't matter. You can win ballgames with the WR's we have. You can't win with the OL & DL we have - that's the bottom line.
  12. They are, and it's not close.
  13. You are correct sir.
  14. IMO the Cincy game was more of a smokescreen than the Carolina game. The Bears turned the ball over 6 times vs. Cincy. They have the best defense in the league.
  15. There needs to be a pinned thread at the top of the page that posts NE's schedule. Their toughest games are @KC and @Buffalo. It's over.
  16. That's just dumb. The team he took over in SD was woeful. So was the team he took over in KC, who became consistent winners. The Browns went into the toilet after he left Cleveland. His 1 year in Washington they went 8-8, which was better than any of the surrounding seasons before or after. God, get a clue.
  17. Other than RB, WR, and CB, we need upgrades at every single position. That's not good. That's why we suck.
  18. That would be funny if it wasn't true. Who am I kidding. It's still kinda funny.
  19. Sorry for not getting upset, but my skin is a little thicker than that. It's pretty clear that you get off on being a contrarian for the sake of getting attention. I mean, within a span of 3 posts the pass has gone from "probably tipped" to "predictably tipped".
  20. Whether or not the QB should've thrown the ball is a completely separate issue from whether or not the ball was thrown accurately. Nobody else saw any such "push in the back" or deflection. Catch the ball.
  21. I think your analysis is spot-on. McGahee isn't going to have a big day vs. this rush defense and their offense is going to score points. We need a big game from the QB, which is why I'm not optimistic at all.
  22. I know I'm a little late to the party, but I liked the Ravens getting 4 against a Tommy Maddox team playing on the road. They're up 10-6 right now. I can easily see Houston winning outright, but they could just as easily get blown out - I don't really see KC winning a close game. I can see the Colts winning on a late FG however - so I kinda like Cincy getting 5. Whoever picked Detroit - has Joey Harrington ever won a game on the road - EVER?
  23. Answer: Alabama St, UCF, Bethune-Cookman, Jacksonville, Forida A&M, Morgan St, and Savannah St. have this in common. Question: What is Forida's non-conference schedule? Maybe they're afraid of St. Bonaventure too
  24. Yeah that was '98. We did play them in '01 when Flutie was starting for SD and RJ actually played really well, but the late comeback was foiled by our awful special teams at the end.
  25. Over or under 8,000?
