  1. Good post - Online message boards have a way of polarizing these opinions for sure. It's similar to talk radio in that respect - even if you suspect you might be wrong you cannot budge an inch. I know. I was that guy - huge RJ supporter at the Sporting News and then the Range before coming here (though I still think Flutie sucked and sucks). In my ~2 years here I think I've sort of been burried in the enourmous popularity that is this board even though I have 1700+ posts, but if anybody follows my stuff at all I hope they know I try to tackle each issue independantly and don't just argue for the sake of arguing. Some of the stuff about the old regime I liked, some of it I hated. As for JP - I agree you have to give him a pass for the broken leg. That's about as far as I'm willing to go with it though. The "poor playcalling" was not that poor and is by far the most overrated complaint of fans of every team everywhere IMO. True, his line needs to get better; although based on the games I saw he was no more accurate when he actually had time. And it's not like every other QB since Kelly hasn't had the same protection problems. FWIW, I have no problem giving him another year despite my reservations about him just because we're going nowhere anyway.
  2. I guess I'm lucky I have DirecTV then - according to their website OLN is part of their basic $45 package.
  3. Me neither. Funny thing is they're the same people who now say TD was the worst GM ever. Maybe they're just optimists. Maybe they want to be able to say "we got the best of Dallas/Parcells in that trade". I really don't know what it is, but I don't understand it. Based on the track record of the GM finding QB's and the performance of JP last year, I don't see much to be optimistic about. Of course he's young and all that and I didn't expect him to be a superstar, but he really could not have played much worse. Lee Evans made a couple plays for him vs. Miami & KC and it was just very very ugly outside of that. I mean I thought Carolina was one of his better games and was happy to see him show some poise on a couple 4th down plays but we still could not even get the ball in the endzone that game.
  4. Oh, cool. I haven't seen the Sabres at all this year. I'm interested to see what games I'll get down here in Philly. I'm hoping they don't play the Flyers because that series would be covered by the local sports channel, which I don't get via DirecTV. There are plenty of channels I get that I don't watch, so I could easily have OLN and not know it.
  5. Pardon my ignorance: what is OLN?
  6. What's the gameplan for the tv schedule? I'm assuming NBC isn't going to show games every night for 3 months. Will they be on CNBC or something? Are there just going to be fewer games shown than what ESPN has done in the past?
  7. Memphis = Not a mid major. Gonzaga? Technically a MM but they have not been seeded like one for years. Witchita St. lost in the 2nd round of their conference tourney, but they were rewarded with a solid #7 seed for a good regular season. Bradley and George Mason were clearly bubble teams who did a great job in their first two games. It happens in the tournament. Congratulations to them. Overall this is a better than average year for mid majors. Not sure what your point is?
  8. Yeah I think a surprising good number of people had Witchita St. just to fade Tennessee who was a weak #2. Only reason I went with the Vols was because I thought Seton Hall/Witchita was a virtual coinflip in the 1st round. On a related note UNC losing in that region yesterday was huge since it offset my Mich. St. elite 8 disaster pick. Have I mentioned that the Big 10 sucks?
  9. 9/16, 6/8, 4/4. Originally had Georgetown in yesterday's game until I found out the game was in Ohio, then I switched. God the Big 10 sucks. I can make up a lot of ground if LSU and West Virginia win in the next round though, because not many people have them; or Memphis for that matter. How the heck does Memphis have a tough road? Bradley + UCLA/Gonzaga = Cakewalk.
  10. Yeah I couldn't have articulated my thoughts as well but that is how I feel too. Last week was just lame. They revolve a whole show around some guy we barely know?
  11. I'd like to add that the last McDonald's All American they had before Carmello was John Wallace, when they also went to the National Championship game. Prior to that I think the last one was Billy Owens? So it wasn't like they were stocked with talent throughout the 90's. It just seems like Duke is the easy target if you want to hate tournament underachievers who get a ridiculous amount of media exposure. I've noticed the past couple weeks (at other more "national" message boards) that a ton of people hate the Orange, which to me is flattering. It means they're obviously more of an elite program than I thought.
  12. Yah I think the Big 12 still has tire tracks on their face from 2003. I've come to the conclusion that this is actually Julie Boeheim who is posting in an effort to make SU bashers look ridiculous. I think she's doing a fine job.
  13. Exactly - I had them out in the 2nd round. I don't know what the implication is - yeah, he went his entire career without not having a FG but then he faked re-aggravating his groin in the 1st half so he could sit on the bench for the bulk of the rest of the game because he was afraid of A&M after beating the 3 ranked teams in a row
  14. These two statements mesh together real well Because your "point" (whatever it's supposed to be) is retarded and doesn't deserve any mature response. It's painfully obvious you're a bitter fan of some loser program that has been owned by Cuse in the past.
  15. It must've been difficult to wake up and also realize that you suck at posting, and probably at life as well. Of course, being severly injured had nothing to do with Gmac being held without a FG for the first time in his career. And of course, any time a 3rd place team from League A beats a 9th place team without its best player from League B the only rational conclusion one can come to is that League B sucks.
  16. Adding to that, hardly any of these bubble teams that got in have wins near the same quality as SU, WVU, Marquette, and LSU - 3 of those 4 games were away from home.
  17. The seedings continue to be a big mystery. Last year 'Cuse was 11-5 and won the conference tourney and they were only a 4; 7-9 this year and they're a 5. Umm, ok. The rest of the Big East was pretty much hosed. Pitt & Georgetown should've been seeded higher, Cincy should've easily gotten in. Despite the generous seeding it's a tough road for Cuse. A&M and LSU are capable teams whom they'll have to beat down south just to get a shot at Duke in Atlanta. Pitt on the other hand has an excellent shot at the Final 4 if they can get past Kansas in the 2nd round. Whenever Duke is a #1 I usually pick them to choke in the sweet 16 and I'm often right. It is just sometimes difficult to peg the exact team they're going to lose to. Four years ago I had them losing to the #4 USC and they lost to #5 Indiana. Last year I had them losing to #4 Syracuse and they lost to #5 Michigan St. Obviously this year I will be picking them to lose to #4 LSU
  18. Without a doubt - unbelievable feeling - totally makes up for an otherwise dismal season. I've never been a big conference tourney guy but this is certainly more entertaining than the typical 10-6 3rd place finish and 1st round exit that SU was famous for between 93-04. Biggest story in all of sports for 4 days in a row, woot.
  19. Yeah I'd like to think it's a sign of things to come for Roberts & Watkins but who knows - they played out of their minds vs. Uconn in the Big East tourney last year, but it obviously didn't propel them into a great Jr. year. Hopefully they improve a lot next year; their biggest problem seems to be their inability to catch a cold; I mean Josh Reed has better hands.
  20. SU had about a 30% chance to make the NCAA tourney if they lost this game. SU has a 100% chance of making the NCAA tourney by winning this game. SU had about a 5% chance of winning this game as of this morning. So it's kind of a big win against an arch rival if you're a 'Cuse fan. Oh, and Doug Gotlieb(sp?) this deuchebag on ESPN can suck my wang also.
  21. SUCK IT UCONN
  22. Yeah I remember seeing that photo on Unsolved Mysteries about 10+ years ago.
  23. Yeah this junior class is a joke. They all have worse hands than Josh Reed. Hopefully this Paul Harris kid is the real deal. Gmac may get another game in the dome for the NIT.
  24. I love how he picks the biggest favorite on the board EVERY week during the season when he's making his "best bet" pick on Friday. Such a freaking square.
