  1. You can't seriously be saying that Steve Kerr was anything but a marginal player; or that Toni Kukoc or Ron Harper were much better than average.
  2. I wasn't sure how to feel about this series. I hate the Lakers but it would've been awesome seeing them lose to the Clippers in the next round. Oh well. These playoffs are a snoozer; might as well start the Spurs-Pistons finals series today.
  3. I absolutely think that good QB's throw the ball to the WR's opposite shoulder to avoid getting crunched by a safety. I do think there's a lot of lucky bounces involved in hockey. Not sure about the Connolly goal. I was about to swear at him for skating behind the net and all of the sudden the announcer said "score" and then I'm like "oh great play"
  4. Yeah I have to say that's kinda pathetic - you would think he would at least do a better job of hiding the fact that he has an agenda.
  5. For the life of me, I can't understand the notion that the 1st Qtr success relative to the other quarters, was an indication of bad coaching. To me it means that we actually had a pretty good gameplan and the players just weren't good enough for the rest of the game.
  6. And what reason might that be? Because it has nothing to do with them having the fewest points of the 4 teams left...or winning fewer games than anybody left. For what reason was Philly seeded higher than Montreal? Because they're older and slower?
  7. Does the WGR online stream only not work between 12-3 for anyone else or is that just me?
  8. We say that every offseason.
  9. NJ is good. Carolina won 4 straight against a mediocre team that was missing its best player but who cares. The point is that it's odd that two of the three best remaining teams are playing in the 2nd round.
  10. I think I understand the point, I just don't understand the significance of it. Having a good secondary is nice. Some of us remember a secondary made up of Winfield, Clements, and Milloy (the pre-'05 version that wasn't injured and over the hill) as pretty good. They didn't help us win a single game that mattered without the help of a pass-rush; or an offense that could score points once in a while.
  11. Sucking in the trenches and losing games are not unrelated to each other. The Bills have done a lot of both recently in case you haven't noticed.
  12. Right. I'd estimate the "Fire Fairchild" posts start ~Week 2.
  13. Can somebody explain how/why our offense is going to not suck this year?
  14. I used to love "radio in bed" when I was in Grade school. Anyone remember 1on1 Sports? I think they got bought out by Sporting News or something. Bob Kemp late night was terrific. ESPN was good 10 years ago when Tony Bruno and Peter Brown were there- they were both hilarious. Everything I've heard recently from ESPN to Fox to anything in Philly, sucks. I'm glad the online streaming thing is catching on - Schopp on WGR and Mike & Dogg on WFAN are about as good as it gets.
  15. Peter King said this on WGR today. I have mixed feelings on Leinart but I'd be very surprised if Young becomes a player.
  16. youboty, I agree. CJ, good point. This is one of the better threads on the front page.
  17. Hey quit spoilin' - I'm listening to the online WGR stream "2 on 1 Niemachi makes a great save.......but they score!"
  18. Yeah, the "_ can't be any worse than _" mantra blew up in my face too many times during the GW era - I stopped it 3 years ago.
  19. Spin doctor much? I don't know how you still manage to do the homer thing after sucking this whole decade.
  20. That was one of the more horrific plays I've ever seen. The guy is a scumbag and he should've been kicked off the team. We're all about "high character" though.
  21. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the NFL system. With 4 divisions it's inevitable that an 8-8 division winner will host a 13-3 wildcard some day, which would just be retarded. There was 12-4 Jax @ 10-6 NE last year, although it's hard to feel sorry for the Jags since they played a super weak schedule. Although you wouldn't know it by the Nuggets early exit in the playoffs, their seeding helped them. If they seeded by record they would've played a team better than the Clippers.
  22. O'Rly. Was Toronto the #5 or did they not re-seed back then? edit: I remember now - The Sabres almost played the #8 seeded Penguins in the finals instead of Toronto.
  23. I'm still not sure if it was a goal even after all the replays. The Oilers were the better team in the series though, so whatever. How'd you like to be a #6 seed with home ice in the 2nd round? It's insane.
  24. That was the Clippers - they wanted the #6 seed so they could play the division winning #3 seed Nuggets - whom they had a better record than. Yeah, it was a freak thing that doesn't happen often but the system is designed to benefit the team with the best reg. season in the later rounds. Do you think it'd be fair if the Devils had home ice over the Sabres in the Eastern finals despite winning fewer games in an easier division?
