  1. I like Lebron too but man, he's already getting calls like a 10 year veteran star - that's probably the biggest reason my interest in the NBA has dwindled. He took about 4 steps in his game winner vs. Washinton in Game 3. Can't believe Tim Duncan fouled out last night - I'm sure Stern will have a talk with those refs - or maybe Timmy just doesn't sell enough jerseys?
  2. The Super Bowl teams didn't try harder than Wade's.
  3. "Well this guy can't be any worse than _!" How many times have we all been bitten in the ass by that old standby rationale?
  4. I was just looking back at the schedule. I guess they crushed us once in Buffalo back in October. Otherwise the Canes won 2 out of 3, 1 of which was a shootout. Sabres romped them in Raleigh last game of the reg. season when they were playing for the 1 seed. But yeah, that all means squat. I think the Mets beat the Dodgers like 100 times in '88 before losing in a playoff series.
  5. tex, I remember the play-by-play guy said something about rooting for an individual player; I don't think he openly admitted to rooting for Ottawa (even though he obviously was )
  6. Carolina in 7 would be fine with me. I can't imagine wanting to play a Jersey team with a crapload of momentum overcoming a 3-0 deficit but it's not going to happen.
  7. SportsCenter segement: "We'll have time to talk Buffalo later since they're moving on, so what about Ottawa Barry?" never gets old. Good news is it reminds me of 'Cuse in '03 when ESPN couldn't shut up about the Big XII.
  8. Were you happy when Tampa freaking Bay won?
  9. I agree, I'm sure Travis isn't a saint but relatively - that one incident to me doesn't prove he's a horrible person. The guy played hard in how many games with a broken leg in '03? I'm sorry but Willis quit last year more than TH ever did. I also think Brad Butler's disgusting cheapshot says more about his character than a lot of highly publicized off the field incidents that some athletes take grief for. OK flame away.
  10. He obviously doens't play hurt as well as Mike Greenberg.
  11. This series had the same exact pattern to it as Colorado-Dallas; and I think the same # of OT games as well. I realize what the Avs did in the following round but that's my version of a reverse jinx
  12. I was surprised we weren't whistled for another penalty to give them a 3man advantage (can't believe I have to say "J/K" but I know it's required around these parts). I'm such a softie - gone from hating the Sens with a passion to kinda feeling sorry for them in a span of 5 minutes; although Neil and Chara are still punk asses. What are everyone's thoughts on Carolina? The guys on WGR seem to think they racked up points in a crappy division, but there's obviously something to be said for being up 3-1 on NJ. I'd think we'd be slight favorites especially if Connolly comes back.
  13. What's with this stuff about sports Gods? Were these Gods asleep when the Lightning/Stars/Cowboys/Patriots/Ravens/Lakers were winning championships?
  14. Yeah really. He did push off but whatever, they never call it unless your name is Eric Moulds and you're playing the Patriots. I still want to see a replay of the holding call that gave them the ball back in the first place.
  15. Oh yeah, the whizanator. I was thinking of one of the other 15 Viking RB's. Who was the guy who badmouthed JP?
  16. Maybe Onterio or JP can recommend to Marv some 'high character' Tulane OLmen who took gruesome cheap shots at others.
  17. Kiper talked nonstop about KC needing a CB. I guess the guy opposite Surtain singlehandily lost the Bills game but I seem to remember more than a CB contributing to the most pathetic display of "tackling" ever on Tiki Barber.
  18. I'd rather have lost Game 1 with momentum going into Game 5. There wouldn't be nearly as much pressure to prevent a Game 7 that way and the fans would be a lot less scared and probably louder at home for Game 6. The fact that so few teams have come back from down from 3-0 IMO is largely a product of teams that go up 3-0 being vastly superior to their opponents an overwhelming majority of the time; which is clearly not the case with these two teams.
  19. I forget the name of the intermission guy - Chris or Keith Jones?: I quote: "Ottawa finally stopped playing down to their competition". Exactly how far down would that be - all 3 points over 82 games down? The game announcers wanted Ottawa to win and I didn't think they were all that subtle about it. Sorry if I sound like another whiney Buffalo fan, but that's how I feel. For the record I'm not one of those people throwing a hissy fit over any comments by Mortenson or Peter King.
  20. Lets just hope we don't pull a "Bledsoe gasket blow II vs. Eagles 3rd string secondary the week after Miami"
  21. Yeah the pressure to win Game 6 will be insane if we lose Saturday.
  22. FWIW, there are lots of impartial observers on a "neutral" board I frequent who are all baffled at the one-sided officiating. I didn't think it was that terrible but maybe I'm just used to it.
  23. Ya think it was an effort problem? I thought they played as well as Game 1 or 2. Just didn't finish as well as 2nd game. No Connolly definitely hurts. Rory does suck. There was a play in the 1st period where he's backpedaling with the puck in his zone and just flipped it in the netural zone air without any pressure on him whatsoever - that almost led to a goal. Also, OLN is annoying.
  24. At least Rome is original when he's not making any sense.
