Kelly Holcomb rated 15th best backup QB
BuffOrange replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Words don't do it any justice; just find a way to watch it somehow because the film says more than I could ever write. As Biscuit said, I just don't understand the Holcomb-blasting. Seems like the people saying he doesn't have the arm or the heart to throw downfield are mostly the same people saying that the coaches screwed JP by designing deeper routes compared to when KH was in the game. Which is it? -

But but but but....4th&7. God knows those who have seen Harrington/Boller play every game of a season can't single out one bad decision. If you want to see a gutless QB decision on a 4th down play with the game on the line, watch the last two minutes of the Patriots-Jets Monday night game in 2000. -

Harrington and Boller don't have inconsistency problems - they've consistently stunk their whole careers. I'll take Holcomb's mediocrity over them any day. -
You do know this is fantasy ball and that Andy Reid never met a running play he liked, right? If anything Big Ben is rated too high on that list - no way would I take him, Leftwich, or Vick ahead of Green or Bulger.

Are you trying to decide which to draft or you have both? I'd just rotate depending on that week's opponent. Bledsoe is certainly much more likely to play 16 games, but Warner could potentially play 4 games against the 49ers/Rams.

rofl, maybe he was fired for failing to get as drunk on the air as Rick Sutcliffe.

They've been the popular media pick every year since they became good 1999. They're officially the Dolphins of the 90's.

Dick Jauron's clock management
BuffOrange replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh great, we should be undefeated then. I don't know anything about Jauron's clock management, but I do know he's in the same company as Mularkey with regards to having blown a 21pt 2nd half lead against one of our division rivals; and that wasn't on the road. -

Which games would these be? -
I would just take two RB's providing the draft plays out how you anticipate. Personally I'd jump on Stephen Jackson at #10 and expect him to be as good as Barber or James with Martz and Faulk out of the picture this year. Both of the Auburn RB's should be solid picks as well if they're still around. If they're both gone then I'd take the stud WR because I don't think Jordan will be much better than Westbrook but that's just me.

I love Michigan's balance just about every year. They're one of the few teams with consistently good WR's, strong running game, and a solid defense; but they usually manage to throw away 2-3 games. Lloyd Carr is a bad football coach IMO. Everyone knows the Cuse will take it home, as previously mentioned.

Convince me Whitner was a good pick

Did he really make the probowl in 02? He didn't have a single int, sack, or forced fumble that year. -
Happy Bday - everyone knows July is the best!
-
Yeah, I wish they would spend more time improving the gameplay than all this fluffy crap, but every year it's a new gimmick and basically the same game. I probably won't even buy it this year; I need a hockey game! When do they come out?

O Rly. While a respectable Madden player, I've never understood how to rush the passer in that game. I usually control the SS on defense. QB & RB seem like the easy choices.

Most underrated Bill of the last 25 years
BuffOrange replied to Buftex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Huh, I've never heard this before but '80 was a bit before my time so I looked up the season here.. This was apparantly before homefield in the playoffs was based on merit? The Bills had the same record as the Chargers but beat them and had to play in SD. Beat Oakland pretty good too. How the F*% did they get swept by the Colts. -

I'm going with Billy Brooks. He basically won a '93 playoff game vs. the Raiders with two late TD catches, and he stepped up huge in 95 en route to our last division title after Reed got hurt early. And yet nobody remembers the guy. edit: Good call buftex, I didn't read your whole post when I wrote this. Antowain - his best year was 1998 with 1100 yards and it wasn't great. Still bitter about a fumble vs. the Jets in their territory when we were moving the ball, although he played well that day. Also he was a complete no-show for the playoff game in Miami. Had that one nice run in the Tennessee game. -
Well the idea of playoff teams implies that the Rams/Seahawks were the equal of the Panthers/Bucs, which is of course ridiculous. It also implies that the '04 Steelers backups were better than last year's Chargers, which is equally ridiculous. Comparing apples to apples: 04 AFC East > 05 AFC East 04 AFC North < 05 AFC West 04 NFC West < 05 NFC South The other two "non formula games"...04 Jaguars/Raiders = 05 Bengals/Texans I still say the '05 schedule was tougher by a decent margin.

WTF this was supposed to be a 1day deal. Some quick thoughts: B4L, "honey wings" sounds kinda weak. Potato wedges are fantastic though, and Sierra Mist is a servicable drink although you could've done better. B-, this is really a C without the potato wedges to be honest. inkman, nice work of leftovers. Onions + peppers are good with anything. Cheese on a steak though? Fortunately it was only a little bit and cheddar is good. Potatoes = nice. B+ ACor, I have no idea what that is. Jack, Not sure if you're joking or not. What's the triple stacker - burger? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt there. Onion rings are ok and would be acceptable elsewhere but BK has the best fries in the business so you really came up small with your choice of sides here. Your dessert and drink makes me want to throw up in my mouth. C- Pete, Sorry I hate sushi but since I'm drunk & in good spirits, C. B4L, Again, superb utilization of leftovers. I know people like to rip on Pizza Hut but frankly it's better than Papa Johns, Little Ceasers, and pretty much any pizza chain place outside of Uno's. Still though, it's an unhealthy slice with nothing else to go with it. B

Pretty similar to most predictions I've seen. Some contrarian thoughts: I still like NE by a fairly good margin in the East. Winning in SanDiego was nice, but I don't know why everyone's so impressed by Miami eeking by the Bills & Jets at home. NE had a ton of injuries and some uncharateristic bad luck last year (lets face it, they outplayed Denver and the Broncos "outPatrioted" them in that game). In the other East I like Dallas. I think TO will be relatively well-behaved in a 1 year contract audition. Also, their defense is young and good. I don't get why everyone loves the Giants. Still not sold on their defense, Barber won't duplicate last year, and they're never good 2 years in a row. I don't really consider Arizona a sleeper because they're everyone's sleeper. I guess they could grab a Wild Card since they're in a lousy division. The importance of the RB position is grossly overrated though, so Edge will only help so much. They've got to get better QB/OL play. I think Baltimore will be more than 1 game better and Denver more than 1 game worse than last year. Philly should also be more than 1 game better with a healthy McNabb. They went to the SB with Westbrook starting @RB.

"you're with me leather" classic. While I used to love him, I've recently grown tired of his genital sucking tendancies, especially in relation to Barry Bonds. Still, no way he's #1 ahead of Stu Scott & Steven A.

No, let me rephrase: I take issue with "almost".

Which SportsCenter is this? I haven't seen the guy in about 3 years.
