  1. I'd go with Bell as well; I'm playing him over my first round pick Lamont Jordan this week
  2. Oh yes, that game brings back great memories. I had just gotten back to school after Thanksgiving break and immediately destroyed my dorm room. Those uniforms do like nice though.
  3. I'm trying to think of a color guy on CBS I like better than Dierdorf and can't do it. Thanks Lori - that write up actually makes me feel better about the game. Not only does Miami have some weaknesses, but they're not particularly great at many positions either. Not being much of a Chambers guy, Brown & Taylor are about the only players I worry about. I've said since January I don't get the hype with this team. I do think "should've been 4 for 4" is a bit misleading though, since 2004 was a rock bottom year for them, (if you take away that year, their September home record is pretty ridiculous). Also the 1st game last year they basically gave away with 25 penalties and 10 turnovers and still were in the game at the end somehow. Football Outsiders is an outstanding site btw.
  4. I took the Cards last week and the Ravens this week as well. Almost everyone who didn't take the Pats last week went with Arizona so you're definitely not alone. This week was a lot more options, but with a healthy McNair and a tough schedule, this seems like the best week to use Baltimore.
  5. Hey AT - personally I see no home dogs that stick out like the Lions & Rams last week. I've officially given up on GB in Lambeau after they screwed over my suicide pool each of the last two years, followed by last week's debacle. The only thing with the Vikes & Jags is that they're both playing phenominal road teams. Actually, every team in the NFC South seems to play better on the road. I kinda like the Bucs, the Browns who always give the Bengals fits in Cincy, and Lions who I really like this year for some odd reason. Overall, I think Rico has it right that it's a horrible gambling week.
  6. Welcome to "overeaction to week 1 sucker bets" 101.
  7. Never saw him play but any old-timer whose opinion is worth a damn says 'best ever without question', which is good enough for me.
  8. Before I open it let me say overrated. However, one particular run in Soldier Field was one of the sickest runs I've ever seen; should be on there.
  9. I'll go against the grain and say Droughns and I don't think it's particularly close. Most everyone had him rated higher before the season and he has a much better matchup. Thinking the Bengals run D is tougher than the Bears based on Week 1 is just silly.
  10. Just hasn't been the same since JJ retired. Wandsteadt & Saban are harder to hate and they don't have as many jackass players as they used to. Probably doesn't help that I don't go to Dolphin message boards anymore either; I'm sure their fans are still as annoying as ever.
  11. Seriously. And Chambers is not a top 5 WR; not even close.
  12. C'mon Ko. I'd rather bring Kelso out of retirement than see Wire on the field.
  13. That was a money kick; though to be honest I felt it was silly not to go for it on 4th&7. At least they didn't punt.
  14. I never heard anything about him being lazy; but he looked it on some of those plays. "I'll pretend to sort of block this guy and loaf out into the flat but not really run a route or look for the ball". WTF dude; the Chargers did have the #1 run D though so I'm hoping it's an abberation. Bad news is they play Baltimore next week. Good news is I have Baltimore's defense.
  15. Looks like I'm taking Baltimore in my suicide pool next week.
  16. Playoffs next year....problem is if we suck again this year the expectations will be low again next year and when we lose to the Pats for the 384th straight time but cover the spread you'll still want to look at the positives after losing...it's becoming a nonstop cycle ya know?
  17. Theismann mention coordinators? I'm shocked. Yeah, Jaws & Vermeil are good just as I expected. Vermeil also did the '95 asswhopping of the Dolphins in Shula's last game if anyone remembers but he unfortunately had to work with Musberger then.
  18. Go ahead and wager the house on the Bills then based entirely on the Week 1 games...that's always a good strategy.
  19. OMG seriously?
  20. Does this really have to be a new thread? LAMP! Yeah, he screwed up and there's no excuse for it; and some other guys screwed up too. Who is arguing?
  21. Preconceived biases? rofl, yes we all hope Willis fails and we have to draft another RB. I haven't tivo'd the replay so I kinda hope you're right and that there's nothing he could've done and Wilfork just made a great play. I was under the impression though that running the ball on 4th&1 tends to minimize your OL weaknesses and maximize your strength at RB....or at least that's what I read on TBD last year re: why everybody wanted to kill Mularkey for throwing on short yardage last year.
  22. The only one that really bothered me was the offsides before the safety. It was so blatant right over center and impossible to miss. Then they called the SAME EXACT thing against the Bills on the next possession. But as Schope said it's the NFL why are you surprised. I hate the Giants but they got hosed as bad or worse than us last night.
  23. I need Moss to outscore Tomlinson in one league and Jordan to score a couple times in my other to avoid 0-2 on top of heartbreaking Syracuse/Buffalo losses....awesome weekend! Palmer/Horn/McGahee didn't do much but overall not bad outings from my teams. It's just mind-boggling that every week every year, my opponent has a bunch of players going against the 49ers. Pretty much a given that I'll be playing whoever has Shaun Alexander when they play SF both times without looking at the schedule. Driver had a nice game but good God he's not going to make it to October if Favre keeps hanging him out to dry a half dozen times per game. On a related note I think I'm picking up the Saints D next week and whoever plays the Packers for the rest of the year.
