  1. Because 7 is a lot better.
  2. Might agree if anyone else were on the opposite sideline. Refs give them all 13pts in the 1st half last week & Jimmy has to throw a temper tantrum on a fairly meaningless flag before a kneel down. Jesus just kill yourself.
  3. SF getting every break, 3-0 on fumble recoveries. Looks like their year.
  4. Because all of the ultra-conservative punts & FGs have worked so well vs Manning teams since then.
  5. Nice! Thought we played pretty well despite the hairiness with a couple minutes left. Coming away with 0 pts on the technical & Patterson drilling those 3s changed the game completely.
  6. Its really just the big Carolina teams being down. FSU & Virginia I don't think are any worse than the 3rd/4th teams in a typical year. Miami last year was a big outlier - '02 Maryland was the last time they had a non tobacco team that good (maybe Wake one of those Chris Paul years).. I don't know what happened to NC St - they were the consensus preseason favorite last yr with supposedly all this talent.
  7. Yah that was the worst. Especially when Kansas & Kentucky lost (we could've beaten then with AO but they were the only teams on our level). Unbelievable how lucky Duke got that year.
  8. What don't you understand about haters hating? Remember two years ago when the benchmark for success was Elite 8's? Obviously this was totally arbitrary and convenient for haters because who really cares if you lose in the Sweet16 or Elite8 but it just so happened that we struggled in the Sweet 16 (but usually made the championship game if we got past the Regional Semi's). Now that things have "normalized" a bit after a couple Elite 8's & a Final4 you don't hear that anymore so it's back to the basics... "Umm, uhhh, true road games in November! Carmello! Yah!". God I want a 2nd championship so bad.
  9. Yes Harvin is awesome but hasn't finished a game yet. Lynch is a RB so whatever. Upgrading from Gore to him might be worth .1 wins/year.
  10. Denver covering and losing would be a neat trick but maybe Belichick is that good.
  11. All true, it's not really close offensively. Golden Tate, Doug Baldwin & Zach Miller? Yikes. Even when Crabtree & Davis were hurt Kaep probably had more to work with just by having a superior OL & Boldin.
  12. I agree with this. Both guys are huge bargains right now because they're good and getting paid peanuts. They will probably be good for a while. But when they sign that mega-contract (and the talent level on their defense deteriorates as a result) - I don't know, I don't think they'll be squaring off in the title game 10yrs from now the way Manning & Brady still are.
  13. Well said. The "trying to sound smart" angle has always been the underlying theme in the crowd here that downplays QB too imo (it's the OL/playcalling!). Fortunately they're becoming a minority finally.
  14. There is some validity to the Vinny/Kosar point. Making an unpopular move for the good of the team (see Milloy, Lawyer) is one of his trakemarks. The 2nd point, I don't know. The hindsight is just that imo. Would those folks be saying the same things if his NE career didn't happen? He won 11 games in his 4th year which is fine, but a lot of guys have a surprise 11win year and are never heard from again. '95 did not look like it was shaping up to be a good year even before the Baltimore announcement/distraction (I'm not sure at what point everyone internally knew about it).
  15. Same record as Tony Sporano/Chad Pennington thanks to playing the three weakest divisions in football that year - AFC East, AFC West & NFC West.
  16. Gibbs because of three different QB's. I don't agree with this popular theory that sustained winning is necessarily harder in this FA/Cap era. I mean it's harder if you have an average trigger man, sure, because it's harder to build a dominant team. But with an all-time elite QB I think the fact that the rest of the talent is spread out makes it easier because you're never in a 1991 Miami situation where the rest of your roster is just overmatched.
  17. I'd rather hire the UB conditioning coach than anyone associated with Manning, Brady, Rodgers or Brees.
  18. Good point. Perhaps he wanted to confuse his partner Dan Patrick. K I'm done now I swear.
  19. I think there was even a Joey McNamara in there too. Pretty sure Ellis is just trolling Cuse fans at this point.
  20. It's also worth noting Brennan is to gender stuff what Al Sharpton is to race. Every Billy Jean King documentary shows her eyes lighting up as if watching her beat some 55yr old fart was the highlight of her life. Miller was never real close to last year's version anyway so not a huge loss. Football Outsiders has their D middle of the pack & 9th vs the run.
  21. This actually makes a ton of sense.
  22. Now that you mention it Ariens is the only remotely likeable coach out of that lineup; w/ Fisher and his thugball tactics.
  23. http:// http://thebiglead.com/2011/01/17/the-twisted-tale-of-paddy-ice/ Chronology matters a lot in our perception. It'll be 2-2 in the H2H in the postseason after Sunday.
