  1. It's not going to make or break anything. The Bills always beat crappy NFC teams at home and that hasn't stopped the Bills from sucking for a long time.
  2. I thought he was getting at the idea that when two bad teams are playing each other in the NFL, it doesn't matter how they played the previous 2 weeks. I could be wrong, but way to reort to totally unprovoked namecalling.
  3. Please refer me to to the post where I said any of this; the Lions were my best bet of that week. Anyone who wanted to lay points w/ us on the road is an either an idiot, a homer, or has the shortest memory ever not being able to remember the Saints/Raiders embarassments on the road vs. bad teams last year.
  4. You mean Reggie Brown isn't the 2nd best WR in the league?
  5. And their running game wasn't good in 2003. The notion that Brady has always had a better team is simply a results-oriented excuse because the Patriots have won. Their defense was butchered with injuries that year and it was a 13-3 game in the 4th Qtr with Manning throwing 4 picks with Troy Brown in the secondary. A week later Jake Delhomme torched the Pats.
  6. When did Antowain Smith become better than Edge?
  7. Well sorry he's not scoring enough for your fantasy team, but he's on pace for 85 catches and 980 yards without much help; and he's been a 2nd half player the last 2 years.
  8. Why wouldn't you play your top 3 guys?
  9. I realized a while ago you're good at looking up stats on the spot and that you're also really bad at putting those stats in context. Those 92 yards are 8th best in the league. Atlanta ranks #1 in rushing offense every year; Tomlinson, LJ, and Rudi Johnson have all averaged under 3.0ypc and 50 yards. And this is all with their offense coughing the ball up the ball at an absurd rate. Of course it's possible their offense plays hot potato again; I just wouldn't bet on it.
  10. Yeah not always, but in the long run road favorites are the biggest losers.
  11. I kinda like the Chargers & Giants laying the lumber; otherwise not so much. I would hate the Atlanta pick except Detroit's DL is really banged up. All of those games you mentioned were close save from the Bears game (and everyone gets blown out in Chicago). They outplayed the Vikings in Minnesota for 3 Qtrs and played even with the Rams in St. Louis. Vick has played a couple great games, but I don't see it as permanent. Denver looks like the prototypical sucker bet. Pittsburgh is pretty much impossible to run on and the Broncos hadn't scored 20 pts before last week, so I don't know how they score if their defense doesn't get turnovers. I've been on the Chiefs a lot this year but I love the Rams -2.5 because both teams are completely different home & away, so homefield is worth about triple what it normally is. Also love the Bills -3 but I've already gone over this.
  12. Funny how absurd it is to question the professional coaches unless the criticism (ie playcalling) has to do with making excuses for JP.
  13. That was such a B.S. call.
  14. I'm playing Ward this week because I have to, but I don't expect much from him vs. Champ Bailey. He had his breakout game vs. Atlanta fwiw. I might go with Galloway at #3; Colston & Driver seem like no-brainers.
  15. Thanks. Going by the stats thus far, it's a great deal. My hesitation is based on A) the Bengals brutal schedule B) I have no confidence in Brown keeping up the ridiculous pace he's on, especially w/ Stallworth coming back. I just don't know if he'll "outscore" Driver or Evans going forward. Of course it's nice to alternate my QB's based on matchups too, because as well as each has played, they're no Manning.
  16. 14 team league, start 1 QB, 1 RB, 3 WR/TE's, 1 flex. TD heavy scoring system, meaning no points for rushing/receiving yards under 100 or passing under 300, at which point 3 pts are awarded in 25 yard increments. Retarded rules I know but I'm in it now. Not really RB-friendly either unless your back catches lots of balls, which was why I drafted Jordan w/ my 1st pick which worked out great. Fortunately my 8th & 9th round QB selections have come up big. Rosters: His team: Pennington, Huard Rudi Johnson, Jacobs Reggie Brown, Randy Moss, Cotchery, Rod Smith, Gates My team: Brees, Vick McGahee, Tatum Bell, Mike Bell Ward, Horn, Driver, Evans He gets: Either QB of my choice (they're pretty similar...Vick I guess?) Tatum Bell Mike Bell I get: Pennington Rudi Reggie Brown Thoughts?
  17. Also, make sure he's not playing against that sturdy "bye" defense.
  18. There are no Cardinals fans. Detroit has won a lot in other sports. Diehards of the Cubs & Sox had it bad, but for some reason it's different w/ them. It's like half their fans are people who grew up in Syracuse or some random place and decided it was cool to like the Red Sox. The media glorifies Carlton Fisk's Game 6 HR like it's one of the greatest plays ever in sports when they lost the series; and they pretend Buckner was the most disastrous play ever even the game was already tied at that point. This is why I hate the Red Sox. It's never been "cool" to be a Bills fan; and that's 1 of the things I love about being a Bills fan. Cleveland might be the only city that can relate.
  19. That's a close one; I'd probably stick with Carr. Like you said, he'll be throwing a lot and the Raiders D even before last week hasn't been nearly as bad as you might think.
  20. I don't know about media love affair. Every single time this team loses a game everybody wants to say "zomg they're done". Blowout road wins in Cincy & Minnesota are awfully impressive, regardless of how anyone wants to spin it. Agree with everything Ozy has said. Also I just wanted to say that I was right in August about NE being the most underrated team and Miami the most overrated in the NFL.
  21. Yeah, totally agree. Does ESPN hype him up too much? Probably, but it's not on the top 10 list of things that annoy me most about ESPN. For all the time they spend on the Cowboys you would think the franchise would've won a playoff game in the last decade.
  22. I thought it was 9. In any case, since the Chargers got good in 2004 Martyball has managed to score lots of points against bad defenses at home. The Rams offense just isn't that good on the road. That fumble return was a bad break for the Rams though.
  23. I lost on the Saints last week too. The other two - ugh - the Rams are notoriously bad on the road and the Panthers are notoriously bad as a home favorite. I've been picking 4 games per week: 20-12 so far this year. Bob Mathews' Friday column always cracks me up - the guy is the ultimate square. The biggest favorite on the board is his "best bet" every single week.
  24. Theismann: "that's going to go against the Patriots". lol yeah sure.
