  1. Drury is so clutch.
  2. umm really. Not a #2 WR + early 2nd rounder = bust.
  3. That's pretty much been the case since Week 4 of 2003.
  4. Couldn't agree more. It is really a hard skill to predict. I guess Hester showed a ton of ability in college, but others have too & haven't amounted to much in the NFL. It would've been impossible for McGee to sustain his level from previous years, but it's not like he fell off the map after a 1 hit wonder eg. Dante Hall.
  5. I think we have to define "bust" first. 'Cause lots of folks here still refuse to admit that Josh Reed can't play and he was a higher pick.
  6. Did he really say "he will be a good starter"? Or that "he could play in the league"?
  7. Fair enough - I have been frustrated w/ the best of them. Again, I just feel QB play will determine the '08 season as much or more than any other I can remember. It's a weird thing that happens when in-person football discussions get transferred to the internet: the "in crowd" on this board is exceptionally talented at convincing everyone that anybody who emphasizes QB as the most important position must be some inferior, short-sighted, 1st level thinking 12 year old child. It's like somehow the fact that we've had high turnover at that position is proof that each of them since '97 haven't all sucked and I don't agree with that reasoning. If the defense is ok and Trent is ok, I don't see the lack of a 2nd or 3rd Gamebreaking receiving threat (which is a luxuary most playoff teams don't have) being the difference between 7 and 10 wins.
  8. I don't love the Corner, Corner pick but why is it so hard to understand that they just didn't feel any of the TE's there were very good? When did this become the most important position on offense? When you have a good pair of WR's (assuming Hardy can play), a good RB, and a decent OL (in pass-protection anyway) the lack of a TE isn't going to be the reason your offense sucks. Either Trent Edwards can start in this league or he can't - there is no sense in pretending that any other single factor is as remotely important as it relates to how good/bad our offense will be next year.
  9. I've never bought into the idea that Position X doesn't matter in Scheme Y. But optimists will be optimists no matter what. In other words I don't think a lot of the folks arguing about the necessity of the position were saying it 2 years ago when Clements walked. edit - what BenchBledsoe said.
  10. Yah there were a couple moments of blank stares like: "WTF is Keyshawn doing sitting next to me"?
  11. I don't want to be a hater but RW McQuarters is really the best comparison they could come up with? That makes me want to throw up.
  12. I'm sure there's a ton of teams looking to trade up 2-3 spots for a guy they could get with their current pick
  13. I guess you can say that if Avery doesn't turn out like this Avery.
  14. Nobody watches Troy & anyone who says they did is a liar.
  15. Meh. Since Peters can play either side just as well I'd have preferred Clady and locking up both Tackle spots for the next 10 years.
  16. I am biased towards Ice Hockey because it was my first game. Tyson's Punch Out is up there, but Macho Man just pissed me off so much - I think I only beat him like once in 15 tries. Double Dragon was tremendous as well.
  17. I can honestly say that I have more butterflies on a run of the mill 3rd&6 in the 2nd Quarter of Week 5. I mean I think I have a better grasp than coaches as far as when to go for it on 4th down, when to kick, etc because that is less about "being in the know" and more about math & common sense. But in the department of picking college guys whom they have watched on film and whom I know little/nothing about; I never understood why fans pretend to know what the hell they're talking about.
  18. You have issues.
  19. Very good post. re: CB's a stat I find tremendously insightful is "yards given up per attempt" (thrown in their direction). You can get this from Football Outsiders. To paraphrase last year's article, they said 7-8 was average, 9 is bad, Jason Webster was a brutal 10, and "Hole in the Zone" ranked slightly ahead of the former Colt who signed w/ the Saints last year (forget his name at the moment). Champ Bailey was first by a lot in this category, and he was undoubtably a big part of the Broncos defensive success in '05 despite zero pass-rush to speak of. Of course that does not mean I would take a DB over a pass-rusher of equal ability.
  20. Correct - every year I'm amazed at how few fans get this: The difference between us playing them twice and them playing us is 18 wins/losses. Would be nice for weather purposes, if Oakland, SD & @Jax weren't so early but whatever.
  21. KU obv. isn't this much better but why they were a prohibitive dog I'm not sure when they have slightly less firepower and a lot more defense. Killing myself for picking Texas over Kansas; although this is scary similar to the Marquette thrashing in the '03 semi's. Also, Rose is going to be a really good pro.
  22. Kelly Ripa is more likely.
  23. What an awful 4 days of basketball.
  24. Frez - Negative thoughts between February and August mean you're a horrible fan who hates life who should root for the Patriots. Obviously the Offensive Coordinator handicapped us; just like the previous 18 OC's. When the offense actually does prove to suck for the 13th straight year, feel free to blame it on the lack of continuity and insult all the unrealistic bird brains who expected a young QB to grasp a 2nd system in 2 years. Mind you if you point out this lack of continuity before the season as a potential problem, you are a horrible fan who hates life and roots for the Patriots.
