Knew I should've read the 2nd page. I actually thought about throwing out a KGB reference too. -

Agree w/ Bill. It's the 2nd most important position on the field. Pay the man. -
Brady/Lynch is a solid enough start for where you picked. I'm with tex on not feeling crazy about Lewis this year (probably a safe/solid RB2 though) and Cinco/Boldin being a bit undervalued... Taking a Kicker in the 5th to last round is of course insane.

My guess is that it's happenstance - just like it was with Cowher, Dungy, before that Landry and Madden, and about a dozen other coaches who never won in the playoffs until they won in the playoffs. Plus the refs didn't do him/us any favors in Miami/Tennessee. That'd be a good point if he were a GM and not a coach. -

It's more than Mort, and I'd be surprised. Anyway, I don't really get the disgust with this storyline. I mean I guess it's tiring, but if you watch as much NFL Network as me you know that the alternative is hearing about TO's butt wiping technique, etc. -

WTF @ beating Seattle at home a "shocker"? I guarantee the spread will be less than 3pts if we're the underdog at all.... Forget about playoffs if we can't win that game. -

If I have any optimism for the Bills this year it's because I don't think it requires a big parlay of 50 different things to fall in our favor. I mean if Stroud has something left, the defense improves dramatically. If Edwards can play, the offense immediately ceases to be below average because they have enough players around him imo. The chances of both of these things panning out is admittedly less than 50/50 and probably less than 70/30. But if they do happen it's going to be a lot easier than we think to surpass 5 teams on that list. -

He helped his team in ways that didn't show up in the #'s much like Vick did early in his career. I don't know how you spin him sucking last year though. -

I think this is a fair assessment. The run/pass blocking discrepancy is hard to believe given their massive size, but I don't know how anyone can watch last season and come to any other conclusion. I was astonished at how well the OL held up in Blitzburgh the 2nd week of the season - and yet the offense failed miserably to get anything done (while the defense executed their "give up 1,000 yards and make a stop in the redzone" strategy to perfection). IMO that game was a microcosm of the season as well as a big reason why Losman never got his job back after injury - there was simply no excuse for the offense to suck that bad. When Edwards came in he surprised most of us by not sucking more than JP since he was rookie, but that doesn't necessarily mean we got anything approaching average production out of the position. I refer back to my draft day thoughts it's the QB stupid. As for how the Dolphins scored more points than us, I don't know. In a short 16 game season, variance can be plentiful though: off the top of my head - there was an overtime TD in their lone win, a shootout vs. the defenseless Browns in good weather, a couple late garbage-time scores against the Jets by Ronnie Brown (who looked like Walter Peyton before getting hurt).... -
No way - his weekly picks column never gets old. Best Bet: "[insert biggest road favorite of the week] has more talent. Lay the 8.5." Footnote: The 'best bet' is 3-9 after 12 pt favored Pittsburgh failed to cover in Houston last week.

I don't know who Dennis Williams is but that's how I'd describe Brad.

He also had 7+ TD's in both years prior to his breakout '06 season. This is like the team equivalent of calling the '08 Bears a bust - you're a year late - just seems like a ridiculous frontrunning comment. I mean nobody is going to rank him ahead of an Andre Johnson or an Anquan Boldin this year (which I never bought into last year anyway)...if anything Lee could be a real bargain this year in non-homer drafts.

Tex I don't know anyone else who follows the C's that doesn't think Doc is a bad coach. The other thing neither him (or Pippen) ever got enough credit for imo was winning 55 games with a Jordanless team where Toni freaking Kukoc was the 2nd best player (and they were screwed vs. the Knicks in the 2nd round). As for his whining antics, I can understand why it's annoying for opposing fans. I also think it's pretty obvious that he knows what he's saying is 90% gibberish - it's just intentionally agitating head games (w/ both the officials and the opponent) and it's frankly not much different than what Lindy Ruff does.
-
The '06 Heat say hello. Granted they got as much or more help from the refs than the C's did last night.

Just turn it off 55 minutes in. Pay attention to the end of the 1st half. Still the most pathetic 1sided officiating I've ever seen. Took 3 pts from us and gave 3 to them. -
I'm looking for this to go 7 as well. Looking at LA on paper I don't really understand how they're are as good as they are, but they're obviously playing the best ball right now and Phil vs. Doc is a massive coaching mismatch. When you have a 66-16 team with homecourt who is a considerable underdog, that has the makings of a great series though.

VanGuny is awesome. Mark Jackson: "Allen Iverson might be the best pound for pound player ever". JVG: "What are you talking about?" MJ: "I said pound for pound". 5 minutes later: JVG: "I'm trying to lose some weight so I can become a better pound for pound announcer".

Collins was actually right in assuming the shot clock would/should reset...the refs botched that one too; so I guess that evens out the no-call.
-
Oh man. Refs bail the Lakeshow out of an epic choke.

Missed most of the game but was honestly surprised it was as close as it was when I turned it on in the 4th Qtr. I was kinda expecting the Celtics to put one foot on the plane after Game 3 and mail in that game completely as the Lakers did the other night.
