  1. I hate Tennessee - this awful UCLA QB is killing me. The announcers are killing me too though. You don't take a knee at midfield with a minute left in the half. If you have to get another QB in there do that, but you're not going to beat anyone playing that cowardly.
  2. I'll say this: that was an all-encompassing sports report like none I've ever seen. I guess that's an Alaskan thing since there's nothing local going on. A little disappointed with the lack of Cuse-Pitt analysis though.
  3. Yeah. I just think it's walking an awfully thin line to say that he should be tough on her, but not as tough as Lasio or Gore were in those debates. I also think some Dem's are setting themselves up for huge disappointment in thinking that Biden is going to mop the floor with her. Bush won the 2000 debates not by "winning the debates" - but by surprising people in holding his own. I think if the top GOP advisors can "coach up" someone as dumb as him, they'll be able to do the same with her.
  4. I'm not going to say they don't suck on both sides of the ball and I'm too lazy to look up historical box scores, but I feel like Northwestern loses a lot of 48-24 games in a conference that is not known for it's offensive firepower. So I'd say I'm more discouraged with SU's offense. And yah, GRob needs to go. Bring back P!
  5. What? Which network does the 7pm EST games?
  6. He's never going to be the guy he was due to Herm running him into the ground and an awful OL/QB. So many people hate him though that there can be some value in taking him in the 2nd round... #12 overall is too high - particularly ahead of Portis - but your RB's as a whole are pretty good.
  7. I guess they're both pretty 'meh' - the only thing that really stands out is your WR depth on team 1, (though I think the 2nd team might be better considering league size). I don't t like your early 3rd round picks.
  8. I don't love the Barber pick either, but it's hard to have a huge problem with it given how much that #6 spot sucks. It's just a question of whether you want him and Brees or Brady/MJD - I probably prefer the first combo myself. I'd have probably considered another RB with the Jennings pick given that I like Cotchery as much as Jennings... Warner in the 10th seems like insane value.
  9. I'm no Karl Rove, but: If by "liberal female vote" you mean the NYC 'Sex & the City women', it's not going to happen. If you mean the more important women with respect to a General Election - ie the Cleveland soccer moms - it's certainly not going to hurt.
  10. Unlike the NFL, I don't pretend to be able to pick college games ATS (although it is easier than the NFL if you know what you're doing). I was hoping Cuse would be something other than dreadful this year, but the +14 line @Northwestern is downright depressing.
  11. Arbitrarily cherrypick examples much? The first 31% of the regular season matters. A lot.
  12. I would've done a couple things differently in the later rounds, but oh hell - you got Frank Gore w/ the 22nd overall pick - what else do you need to know?
  13. I feel like in the recent past we've won the "run for the bus" games and lost the middle 2 games where people actually play....is that may imagination? Am I nuts for hoping that's a good sign?
  14. The 'hate' factor seems useless on a few levels: 1. Since it is almost directly correlated with recent team success, it says nothing about the quality of fans. 2. With the exceptions of Dallas & Oakland, nobody is really universally hated by other fans outside of their division. 3. Philly a 2? The Giants are the only fanbase that really hates them. As mentioned, I think GB/Cleveland/KC/Pit/Buf are all about indistinguishable. Wash/Denver/Philly/NYG are debatable but not crazy enough to be stupid. NE & Oakland ahead of us is both crazy and stupid, as is the Dolphins being ahead of the Lions.
  15. Looks ok. Would prefer a better RB2, but I like that you didn't panic/reach for one when the guy you wanted in the 4th was taken and just took Holt - the likely best player instead. Rice I think is a nice, late upside pick. Though I like Schaub, I probably would've picked up another RB there because one of the luxuaries of having a top 4 QB is playing him every week and not really worrying too much about the backup, so you can settle on a Jason Campbell or whatever.
  16. If you're scoring at home, the updated 8/28 media pundit rankings are as follows: Cowher - good King - good Prisco - fairly solid NFL live crew - kinda good because they like the Bills, kinda suck cause they like the Jets Easterbrook - Idiot Faulk - Easterbrook but worse These are of course subject to change - particularly on 9/7 at around 4:30 pm.
  17. Bleh, not a fan of this team. I like Brees a lot, but part of his appeal to me is being around in the 3rd round. On this roster he looks like an early 2nd rounder; and if the run on QB's started that early, it seems like there should've been better players available in the 3rd/4th than McFadden & Marshall.
  18. To me Tatum Bell is worthless because he's unlikely to be a 20 carry guy even if Kevin Smith goes down - I'd rather throw a hail marry on a Leon Washington or Fred Jackson. Not a big proponent of handcuffs, but the Seattle backfield may be one of the few places where it makes some sense. Schaub is a nice backup to have in that league... Should be a playoff team if Portis & Ocho stay healthy.
  19. I wouldn't say it'd be bad for a 14 teamer, but the guy who questioned not getting a top 20 QB in a 10 team league is spot on. Also Josh Reed may be the worst pick ever - at least take a flyer on Fred Jackson if you want to make a homer pick.
  20. Mostly agree w/ this. Some say Sullivan is a flip-flopper, but that doesn't make him any different than Morinara & Roth of the D&C who in their weekly Tuesday chatter session are talking playoffs after every win. I guess the difference is Sully rubs people the wrong way with his tone & negativity. Meh, whatever. I always find Bob Matthews weekly routine of picking the largest road favorite every week as his "best bet" ATS highly entertaining, but not in the way it is intended to be entertaining. I guess at the end of the day nobody is going to value opinions of 4th down coaching decisions more than their own, so you'd like to have somebody who is inside the loop and can get an occasional scoop...I credit Gaughan for that in telling us TD was out the door before anyone else.
  21. I'd imagine this format requires a lot of adjustments for optimal draft strategy, so I'm not sure... Is Brady like the consensus overall #1? I think Campbell would be a good QB3 in that format, but you can't feel good about your 2nd-4th QB's at this point. You have no shortage of weekly flex options at rb/wr so I guess it's an ok team, but I really don't know.
  22. Tim - a few things: 1. I try to take into account draft position and player availability. I mean I'm not going to credit anyone for picking LT2 first, but obviously he's a huge asset for any team. 2. You sound like you know what you're talking about enough that you should know kickers & D's are big crapshoots with only a few exceptions? 2. Mileage may vary in relation to player preference. I like Tjones a lot more than White, and I don't like 81% of Marshall (13/16) better than Roy Williams. In your case I'd personally find an Andre Johnson + McNabb 3rd/4th round combo more appealing than Roethlisburger + Marshall. If you happen to feel like there's a significant dropoff from Ben to the next few QB's, that's sound enough reasoning for me even if I don't happen to agree - I know you're not alone in thinking that.
  23. He sucks so bad. I think it was '05 where a caller asked the last time the Bills won their home opener. He stutters and mumbles for 10 minutes and finally yells out: "Well it wasn't Jacksonville last year, haha"! Awesome work Jim!
