  1. Yah I listen to the espn podcast daily - Matt Berry hated him and cited the "1 TD or fewer in x of his last y games" stat a dozen times in the preseason. Maybe I should've listened. 26 TD's is pretty good for a lot of QB's. It wasn't that good by his standards. The 20 int's were of course not good and a career high. I thought it was a fluke, maybe I was wrong. The Titans game was played in 40mph win fwiw. It just boils down to what you're going to get for him. You're not getting Rodgers unless you downgrade another position; I would guess something along the lines of Lynch ---> Maroney or Fitzgerald ----> Coles. I personally would not want to give up that much. If you disagree that's cool.
  2. I actually heard the clip of him saying that the other day....yeah it was interesting. Surprised there wasn't a thread on it.
  3. That might work if he were in commercials or had won playoff games or played for Dallas...He's just not that much of a household name and realistically nobody is giving up a box of cracker jacks for him right now and he is a terrible sell-low imo. Admittedly I was a big fan in the preseason who looks pretty dumb right about now, but I want to see him come up small vs. a bad defense (ie Larry Johnson) before I officially hit the panic button. I got no problem with pulling him for Trent this week given the lopsided matchup discrepancy however.
  4. Kinda but not really. The league saying they're going to look at the rule seems like kind of a cop-out. The rule sucks from a "spirit of the game" perspective but realistically I don't know what can really be done about it. The problem with that play was the ref's call, not the rule. The fact that just about everyone prefaces their criticism with: "He's a great referee" makes me not feel sorry for him too. Maybe he is a good referee, I don't know - I don't keep a list and always assumed nobody else did either. Who is the 2nd best referee? Is he really that good or was he a fan favorite because he explains things well on the mic and has huge pipes?
  5. Am I "parroting" for suggesting that it is absurd to suggest he didn't have influence over personnel decision in NY, NE, NY, and Dallas? Who said anything about Bush vs. Williams? Changing the subject again because you got owned again? What does an opinion of Henne have to do with "courage"? Do threads like this ever get bumped 4 years later after we know how good/bad he is? I had the "courage" to say that Dolphins were the most overrated team in football between '05 and '06 when they beat a bunch of crappy teams at the end of Saban's first year; while the entire media & most on this forum were quivering about that franchise being on the up&up. Who was I parroting then? I have the "courage" to pick games against the spread every week. I have the "courage" to applaud & rip coaches based on their clock/game management, because their experience means nothing in relation to the mathematically incorrect decisions they make every week. I don't have the "courage" to project college players to the NFL because it requires access to information I don't have; and it is tards like you who rip Mel Kipers of the world in a pathetic attempt to pretend you have some shred of originality - when in fact you wouldn't know who the hell 95% of the players in the draft are if it weren't for guys like Kiper telling you the strengths/weaknesses of the Clemson DE; and then never be accountable when you're wrong. If Henne is a Pro Bowler 4 years from now, you'll still be in your mom's basement, but you'll be posting on some other forum under a different name. Yeah, you should get a purple heart for being so courageous
  6. You: HOF coach/GM is a moron because they signed QB x to play with WR y who he didn't draft. Others: What? Why? xyz You: Well yeah, but Henne sucks! I don't know the point in continuing because it is pretty obvious you're intent on moving goalposts and making up new arguments to fit your backwards "Parcells sucks" premise. I think he watched a lot more of Henne than you did. I have no clue whether he'll be good or not, although # of games started and completion % are the two best indicators of college QB's producing in the NFL.
  7. Yeah this is not even remotely close even if you're concerned about LT2's health as I am. I'm a big Brees fan but you have to think the gap between him & Romo widens now that he's missing Colston for a month or so. The gap between Rodgers & Garrard otoh is likely to tighten by a lot. Portis & Lynch is a wash.
  8. Yeah, Henne will probably be the guy eventually. They don't want to throw him to the wolves, and Pennington is a nice stop-gap locker room guy. Pretty simple.
  9. It may be a rumor, but I don't see why it is far fetched? He's a young guy with some significant experience & looking to make a name for himself. SU is obviously in shambles but still a major program. IMO it's pretty much the exact type of situation where there might be some mutual interest. I don't think they have to settle for a DII guy and it's not like they're going to land Bill Cowher or somebody.
  10. Football Outsiders seems to think he's provided the biggest upgrade to the defense so far this year including Stroud. That's good enough for me even if I don't agree.
  11. Seriously.
  12. That Lions game & the Titans game that year we were only slight favorites. I think the Jets at home that year was the only game we were more than -FG and lost. I thought that became official during the 2004 winning streak.
  13. Meh, NE wouldn't have 3 SB's if there were Football Gods.
  14. I get a little annoyed at so many here chalking up any road win as an automatic W, as if we've reached that status yet. I will say this though: I think if Vegas pretended all 14 of these games were this week and you assumed W's & L's depending on whether we're favored or not....I think you hit on all 14 games. Well done.
  15. Week 3 Lines are out, not a lot I like; so just 1 game for now. Baltimore -1 vs. Cleveland - Mind you this is not a bitterness pick against the Browns since they covered for me last week (thanks to Romeo's bonehead FG). One of the reasons I liked them Week 1 was I thought the Dallas defense was getting way too much credit for never stopping a decent passing game; Pacman signing notwithstanding. Well maybe it's too early to say I was right about that, but the Cowboys certainly did nothing on Monday night to disprove that; which leads me to suspect that the Browns may in fact suck; since their passing game is the strength of their team. To me this just feels like it should be a pick 'em on a neutral field, or B'more -3 in this case. That Football Outsiders picked the Ravens to win this division is an added bonus - they might be one of those good cover teams for the whole year because everything went wrong for them last year. Last week: 3-1 YTD: 5-2 Edit: Woah, just saw the Sunday night line: Green Bay +3 vs. Dallas - Very good team, home dog, primetime vs. a team off a short week. Rodgers played well @Dallas last year. I figured this to be a pick 'em.
  16. He wouldn't be matured if Bledsoe were still the QB (or any of the 20+ of the current starting QB's in the league). He just hit the lottery with Romo.
  17. McNabb is officially the Scottie Pippen of football. So many blowhard idiots call him overrated that he's one of the most underrated players there is. Everyone in last year's week 2 MNF thread gave me a bunch of "I told you so" crap when he had a bad game vs. Washington. I was called an idiot for saying he's been the best QB in the NFC this decade because Hasselbeck & Bulger were so much better. I'm not going to rip those guys for their bad situations this year, but it's funny how their supporting cast gives them a free pass, while coming off of major surgery and having no WR's in a better division isn't a good enough excuse for McNabb to put up decent #'s and go 8-8. F- the haters, I really wish he'd go to Chicago or someplace and come back to bite the Eagles in the ass.
  18. What are your top 5 teams then?
  19. I'm just going to pretend like this game isn't happening since it's only a half. What hype and from who are you talking about? 16 "experts" on espn.com made preseason predictions on every division and zero of them picked the Eagles to win it. 14 of them picked Dallas to win it, and 12 of them picked Dallas to make the SB. When you say the Eagles are overhyped, does that mean you don't think they're an NFC wildcard team? They're 7 pt dogs in this game.
  20. Well I basically never give up on my players this early barring injury, but I'm ready to bail on Larry Johnson after 1.8ypc against the Raiders. Still scored a fluke win thanks to the Vikings kicker and the Packers defense. Then again that's why I draft those positions last as opposed to taking the Chargers D 4 rounds too early.
  21. It is a big game in the sense that an upset loss would be disastrous; so yeah there's some pressure. I don't want to fall into that November/December 2004 routine of calling every game we're favored in a "classic trap game" though. It's at home, we're not coming off a short week, and we play a crappy team in week 4 - so it does not have "all the makings of a trap game". It will be interesting to the extent that we've never really seen how a Jauron-team handles their own success (we know that they respond to bad losses fairly well). I suspect he'll handle it much better than Greggo circa 2003.
  22. Owner has already tried to make Head Coach resign who tried to fire the Offensive Coordinator. They're in disarray regardless and I wouldn't expect the #'s to change much if at all.
  23. Elsewhere, Romeo is evidently more interested in covering the 6pt spread than winning the game.
  24. I believe you're way off here insomuch as: A) they mentioned the tip possibility on tv B) the ref never mentioned anything about a tip in his explanation (which they typically do when that's the reason for picking up the flag). In any case it wasn't interference.
