Folks, we really just don't have much talent
BuffOrange replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree insomuch as I like Lynch/Jackson better than Jones/Washington under equal circumstances. I'd also call WR a push despite Cotchery being way better than our WR2 since Evans is the only WR on either team that keeps a DC up at night. I also like our Special Teams better. So maybe instead of Jets +4 it's Jets +1, in which case we should've been favored to beat them in our stadium. That we didn't do that has a lot to do with a 92 yard pick 6 which happens less than once per season. I don't think any of this defeats the basic point that a lot of us overrate the talent on this football team. -
Should the Bills Should Cut a Veteran?
BuffOrange replied to Billsfanfourlife's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why not. He sucks. -
Standard TBD fast food garbage mentality of picking out 1 arbitrary example (which not surprisingly happens to be recent and based on an enormous sample size of 9 games) against 1,000 others to make some point that isn't there. This pure moron was about the only guy on this forum who wasn't quivering about Nick Saban and his master plan in 05 or Mangini's in 06 (who per your infallible logic has now gone from awesome to an idiot to now awesome again). When your IQ reaches double digits please sell.

Is anyone watching the PHY NYG game?
BuffOrange replied to ACor58's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's just you. If you're rooting for the Giants do you say "what the hell kind of playcall was that" (when talking about the other team)? -
One of them already has.

That was sadly my favorite play of the game. I mean you don't need a screamer of a coach to win; see Walsh/Landry/Knoll. However the retarded clock management at the end of the 1st half is probably a bigger indictment on Yale than anything W. has ever done.
-
Herm may not be a good coach, but I'd give him a little more credit than that. This one actually made more sense to me than Denver, KC being such a crappy team on the road.
-
Asomugha: 2 passes thrown at him, 1 interception, 1 incomplete pass. Jesus he is the best CB in the game.

Ngata has 2 more ints than whitner
BuffOrange replied to billybob's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
But he's better than Oakland's bust of a safety so it was still a great pick. -
I will never understand why 90% of fans think there is more variance involved in coaching and playcalling than there is in QB play. JP fans were here a month ago claiming Fairchild couldn't hold Schonert's jockstrap. I thought that was ridiculous. Now we have Trent fans saying Schonert is a clueless idiot, because of course every loss in the history of the world is due to playcalling. This is what it boils down to: - It's about the QB, not the OC - the most overrated person on any team in terms of his impact on the game. - Level of play in a young QB varies more than the smarts of the OC over the course of a few weeks. - Edwards is a better QB than JP. - Edwards has sucked the last 3 weeks.

The "Official" Bills Gameday thread!!
BuffOrange replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LROFL punting on 4th&3 from the 39 isn't bad enough. We have to destroy any upside of downing the ball at the 1 by burning a time out and not giving ourselves a chance to get the ball back. Oiy what a retard. -
I have no idea so I'll just complicate things further and say Muhammad could be a good sleeper with Asomugah covering Steve Smith. Faulk & any WR (except Henderson with Coltson now 100&) sounds ok.

Brandon Marshall "near incident"
BuffOrange replied to Tim Anderson's Lunch Pail's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That looked like more of a shove than the "offensive PI" vs Miami last week that negated a 60yd TD. -
Everyone (I think) felt that way at halftime. The defense getting run over on a 9 minute drive with all the momentum in the world did a lot to alter the perception of the game, and I think rightfully so.

3 things the Bills must do to win EVERY WEEK...
BuffOrange replied to THEDuganWolcott's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
+1 This is one of the reasons I don't hate Mike Schope with a passion like everyone else here because he says this a lot: I mean yeah - it would be super awesome fantastic if we could run the football consistently. We are just not capable of doing that with the group of lineman we have. Walker & Dockery were flat out bad signings and Ralph is not going to eat their contracts. It sucks, but we have to try to win with what we have. If we "had to run & rush the QB every week" we wouldn't have been 5-1. If you want to tell me "that only works vs. bad teams" and that the Dolphins & Jets are better than the Chargers I'm going to tell you that's based on nothing other than Trent and the defense playing better vs. the Chargers. We can with a decent passing game and a good defense in a league/division full of mediocrity. Hell we did it in the Wade era in a stronger division - granted our defense was better then but our QB/OL was not. -
But they were 1-15! And anyone who thinks Jenkins might be able to play in a 3-4 should be shot in the face...

So you only listen to me when I'm wrong? 2-0 in my doubleheader league with -2 points from Schaub....I rule. -
I still expect a 4game win streak between Cleveland & Miami. Got to win 2 of the 3 road games vs. NE/NYJ/Denver....that'll be tough.

A Few Thoughts About The Game
BuffOrange replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
+1 However poorly the Hardy ball was thrown it's inconceivable to me how anyone can say it was a poor decision. Were we hoping to hit Jackson on another checkdown down 9 points with 1:30 left? The "we got outcoached" theme sounds like similar drivel that's based on nothing other than the end result, which I guess is typical of every loss in the history of the organization in the internet era. I mean I guess it'd be nice if Jauron didn't challenge a play he shouldn't have (which yawn - just about every coach including Bellichick does) - but it was not 5% the blunder of Mangenius accepting a 3rd down penalty that wouldn't have pushed us out of FG range if we gained zero yards on the next play; which miraculously worked out for them. -
As someone not known as an optimist I looked at the first 8 games in August like this: Seattle - W @Jax - L Oak - W @AZ - L SD - L NYJ - W @Stl/@Mia - 1-1 because I hardly ever count on us winning a road game. So yeah one game better than I expected. Problem is if we don't get over the Foxboro hump next week we can reel off a 4 game win streak (which frankly I expect) and still be in near must-win spot on the road in the Jets rematch because their schedule is no tougher than ours. This game is a blown golden opportunity any way you slice it.

Sigh first losing week + Bills crap the bed. I'm a little fired up so will get some Week 10 picks in early and possibly edit some more in later. Not sure how I feel about the Houston game without having seen it. They had more 1st downs, yards, threw two int's in the endzone but maybe some of those stats were garbage since they were down 14 at one point - I don't know. Cleveland was just the wrong pick - can't call it a fluke loss when they score on a kickoff return and blow a 14 pt lead despite getting some questionable calls from what I hear. Week 10 Atlanta -1 vs. New Orleans - Standard "should be 3 since these teams are equal" game imo. You tell me what the difference is besides the Saints being more touted in the preseason. Ryan can play and we don't even have to add the "rookie qualifier" to that statement anymore. Baltimore +1 @ Houston - Forgot about this rescheduled week 2 game. We'll go back to rolling w/ this team against Sage. That is all for now. Cleveland & Philly opened at -3 vs. Denver & NYG respectively and I will be on those home favorites if they dip under 3. Also hoping the Skins win tomorrow night so that the Steelers aren't giving too many to this Colts team that isn't very good. Carolina laying 9 on the road seems a little nuts but the Raiders are such a terrible home dog that I won't bite. Edited for adding Baltimore & removing for Detroit, since God knows who their QB will be. Also adding: Pittsburgh -3.5 vs. Indy - You never feel thrilled about laying the hook on top of the FG, particularly when the favorite's QB is banged up (and no Leftwhich is not as good as Roethlisburger based on one half Monday Night). Still not enough of a deterrent because the Colts are still being overvalued getting a relatively small # on the road against an elite team in the AFC. Last Week: 0-2 YTD: 16-9-1
