  1. He is a viable cold weather back, IMO. He would be fine if he had to take up as the #1 back too. I believe that he could carry this team if Willis got hurt. I love his size, and the FACT that he comes from a team that led the league in rushing last year. He has the skill set I like in Buffalo!!
  2. I've always liked Larry Felser because he is candid with his opinions concerning the Bills. The last article I caught that had him addressing the QB's was April 29th (day of the draft) when he literally said that the Bills had three back-ups competing for the starters role. He also stated that he felt it was boiling down to Losman versus Nall. The bulk of the column, however, dealt with Willis McGahee stepping up to the status of Shaun Alexander with the Seahawks. I'd prefer the Losman comparison to be more Lamonica-like in the long run.... minus the trade to Oakland!!!
  3. I am amped up about you being there to give him the Bruuuuuce welcome!!! THAT IS AWESOME!!! Good job, he will always be my favorite player all-time and I'll try VERY hard to catch this show. I don't like anything about Mr. Smith (The one who has the show) but I'll make an exception to my self imposed lock-out of the program.
  4. Ganesh, you are right! That game might have been one of the most dominant performances by a Bills team in the last 5 years, but the special teams let them down. That was Morton for the Jets right?
  5. I will say this about that..... I'm hoping that the new generation makes a HUGE dent in the lineup. I'd love Whitner, Simpson, and Youboty to excell right out of the gate. Highly unlikely? Well yes, but the 1981 Forty-Niners started four rookies in their secondary and went to a Super Bowl. I know that's a once in a lifetime thing, but I believe that these three will be the last line of defense for a LONG TIME in Buffalo! If McCargo and Williams can come in and make a significant contribution in a rotation, then I'd sure be happy about that too. Great reports on Butler and Pennington would sure be nice and Martin Nance is the likliest rookie free agent to make a splash. I truly want one of the YOUNG QB's to make a lasting impression on management and the coaching staff. I'm on record rooting for Losman, however, if Nall were to seize the opportunity, I'm perfectly fine with that situation. Duke Preston, Justin Geisinger, Eric King, and Roscoe Parrish to name a few, need to step up and make this their team. I'm bullish on the future of this team and think that success is only a season away! GO BILLS!!!!!
  6. The home opener versus the Jacksonville Jaguars a couple of seasons ago! I think that they had a miserable game offensively, until the final drive. I remember Takeo Spikes taking off Reggie Williams' head on a crossing pattern, and I was thinking that they were done. Wasn't it 4th down and long when Nate Clements gave up that Hail Mary to Jimmy Smith? Man, what a tough loss! Didn't Moulds also fumble deep into Jags territory in that game? Ernest Wilford made a good play deep in the endzone to win it.....it still hurts!!
  7. Pennington is raw, but has Jason Peters written all over him! Jim McNally will love working with this kid and he just might be the heir-apparent at OLT when he's ready. He graded out as the 6th best prospect athletically at February's combine and he has long arms. He also benched 225 lbs. 28 times which is awesome for a long armed player!! Lot's of upside with this pick!
  8. I've heard that some teams feel Ahmad Brooks could bulk up a bit and play DE. He currently weighs 260 lbs. and reportedly ran a sub 4.6 ( I believe 4.57 is accurate). The other thing about Brooks is that he let his weight ballon upwards, about 280-285 lbs. Makes you wonder?!?!
  9. This is the simple solution to the "dilemma" (A joy for me!!) of having to watch the Buffalo Bills in 2006, at least for some of you.... Are the players giving everything they have? I think that this squad will be VERY competitive against this particular schedule. Do we see young players maturing under the guidance of this coaching staff? I believe that Losman and Peters and Anderson and King and Preston among all the others will make noticable improvements to their games. Will the outlook for 2007 be better than this year? I'd say that the purge of overpriced veterans will continue next offseason ( Vincent and Villarrial come to mind) and less dead cap space will enable the Bills to make a quantum leap in expectation by way of free agency. Finally, are the Bills forging a tough minded group of young, hungry players who yearn to be great? Let Jauron and his staff answer this question by way of proving the point. Getting there is a lot of fun guys and gals.... the mid 80's taught me that....
  10. Holy Cow!! IF you can't go into a season optimistic, then why be a fan? Part of this experience is to believe that anything IS possible. Worst to first, Red Sox win the World Series, White Sox win the World Series, hey ANYTHING is possible in sports or it wouldn't be fun! The media slams our team and it gets old, I know, but we will have the greatest party the world has EVER known when our BELOVED Bills win it all......I'm definately flying back to Buffalo for that, how about you???
  11. Arguably, this could be better than advertived! Tutan Reyes has playoff experiance and was "solid" as a starter in Carolina. Melvin Fowler is very likely an upgrade from Trey Teague. The year of experience for Peters will help him to develop intp the player the Bills envision. The QB position, if the line improves as some here expect, could stabilize and become viable. As with Peters, Losman can mature into a winning QB given the time to play! Defensively, I sure like the DL more than last years' edition. Sam Adams would never be confused with athletic DT's that get downfield in pursuit. Edwards and Bannan aren't great loses in free agency. McCargo and Tripplett are going to be active and much more capable of making "hustle" plays that change games. If Spikes returns, and Crowell starts opposite, the LB's are potentially a dominant group. Whitner and Simpson are future stars in the secondary and Youboty will surplant king as the nickel back! The new era of Bills football is been planted firmly by this staff and will pay dividends very soon!
  12. This seige mentality has taken me over too! NFL Live conducted a program where they had comment about ALL 32 teams and their QBing for '06. The Bills review was a video of "let's bring back Jim Kelly" because that is the theme in WNY.... bring back the glory days ala Marvs' hiring. I've been stewing with that nonsense for a few days now and can honestly say that I am sincerely rooting for J.P. Losman more than any QB in Bills history! Man, I want those bastards to eat EVERY WORD about this player!! Is it just me, or are these pundits at ESPN starting to rile everyone?
  13. There was a rumor floated on Sirius NFL radio that Jim Haslett fined Sullivan 75 times for being late to team meetings in his rookie season. 75 TIMES!! That is one huge problem child Pioli and Bilichick just latched on to!
  14. All-time in my book was Dandy Don Meredith of the Cowboys. Great team around him and he couldn't win the "big one"! Warren Moon runs a VERY close second.....Now, I'd say it is Jevon Kearse of the Philadelphia Eagles. One truly great year and not too much afterwards. Projecting into the future, the player good enough to get you beat will be non other than Vince Young. He will own this category for the next 12 years.
  15. In my mind, this is part of the "weeding out" process that this new regime will need to undertake. You don't want to be here? Fine! Eventually, the rebuilding of this team WILL NOT include the malcontents. Give Marv a year or two, it's already underway! Where else would you rather be than right here, right now!!! Don't blink in the next two years boys and girls, the changes will make your head spin.
  16. I've actually watched Jackson and he's got a chance in Buffalo! The other NFL Europe player with a legitimate chance is Dylan McFarland at OT.
  17. Just as an aside.... Keith Bullock, the OLB from the Tennessee Titans was co-hosting and between the "Ums" and the "you knows", I HAD to turn the volume down before my head exploded! NFL Total Access brings in players who should be left off the show because, in my mind, the network does them a disservice by exposing these types of weaknesses. Some ARE glib, MOST are NOT!!!
  18. I don't know how many of you watch the NFL Europe, but Dylan McFarland has played well over there! His overall play shows that the coaching of Jim McNally is taking hold. The technique he is displaying has been impressive and I have NOT seen him beaten in a game yet. Granted, he isn't opposite Dwight Freeney, however my reply there is that he is competing against people who also have the NFL dream. He is "silently" coming along, in my opinion!
  19. I actually have ALL the draft grades for the 2006 N.F.L. Draft this last weekend... Atlanta, Arizona, Baltimore, Buffalo, Chicago, Cincinnati, Carolina and the rest (25 more) earned the incomplete grade that every draft warrants. The truth be told, Buffalo may have had a huge day Saturday and Sunday, but we'll all have to wait and see!
  20. I attended the draft and I was no more than 5 strides away from being able to say hello to this fellow. I took one look at him and I was immediately sure that the encounter would have been awful. He seems to be arrogant and extremely rude, in nature, so a hands-off policy was sound, in my opinion.
  21. I think that the Bills focus totally on both lines this year and "sell the farm" for Brady Quinn next year. Putting the people in place to help him succeed is sound football logic. I would concede to a rebuilding label only for this year.... teams in this league CAN rebound quickly! I don't discount the Bills from this type of scenario.
  22. My son heard Boomer Esiason say that the Gary Kubiak to Houston assumption might be just that.... His contacts stated that Kubiak has had a telephone "interview" with the Buffalo Bills. Stay tuned!!
  23. No mention of the Bills as of 1/20, and that pi$$e$ me off, but the correspondant, Adam Schefter talked about Mike Mularkey. In his information was that Mularkey is or is going to interview with Miami. The interesting name that also came up was Mike Sherman for that position! I find that a bit curious, because his vying for the Bills head coaching job didn't even come up. Could Sherman be giving the signal that he isn't the Bills guy......
  24. This is a process that Marv will excel at and his choice is simply going to win in Buffalo! Most here will call this BLIND FAITH, but I am of the opinion that it is highly likely that everything Marv will touch in this new organizational structure will turn to gold. Each time I've watched him at these press conferences, I'm feeling good about the direction he will forge in Buffalo. He exudes confidence and poise that gives me a settled feeling about the team. His comment about looking forward to working with Mike Mularkey rang true for me and his subsequent comment about navigating through the rough decisions told me all I need to know. The franchise is in VERY capable hands, IMO.
  25. I've said it before.... Dan Reeves is 62 and Marv started with the Bills in 1986 at 61 years of age. Marv might think that Dan has his best coaching in front of him!
