Just a guess, but I think this youngster Ryan Neill might suprise and be the 4th DE. I think Mark Words' best days are behind him. Additionally, The Bills probably err on the side of youth IF this is indeed, a rebuilding year. He might make this team on merit anyway. Oh, and Keith Ellisons' name keeps "popping up" when people here mention plays at training camp. At least it seems that way! Always around the ball.....

In my view, this is sheer insanity! Terry Bradshaw got benched through his early struggles and Phil Simms was benched in his third year! In this era of "what have you done for me lately", these two would have been cut out into the street. Losman NEEDS TIME UNDER CENTER! Plain and simple! Oh, and a coach that doesn't hear all the fans. Marv Levy said, If you listen to the fans, you're doomed to sit with them eventually. The Baltimore Ravens have NOT given Kyle Boller enough time in my estimation, and the ramifications of that move they made bringing in McNair will likely have a detrimental effect on his career in Baltimore! What has he started.... 32 games or so.... Losman, what 8?! DO THE MATH!! The funny thing about Boller is that he was starting to "get it" and they pulled the plug. Ouch!!!

Hey Joe, one of the reports was that John McCargo was overextended and that means to me that he was hustling and trying to impress! IF he did work so hard to catch the eye of the coaches, then good on him, I say!!!
-
I think his hope would be for Losman to win the competition outright and for Nall to ascend to #2.....The offshoot could be (however, unlikely) that the Bills part ways with Kelly Holcomb and Kingsbury finds himself in Buffalo as the #3. Stranger things have happened!!

Here's an Interesting Theory...

I, unlike my two colleages, have the opposite feel for Bruce. He should have retired a Buffalo Bill, as should have Thurman Thomas and Andre Reed! I'm really upset with both management and players these days for the total lack of this virtue! Other teams, historically, let their "fading" heroes play out their final days in the only uniform they ever knew. Just me, I guess.... -
Someone convince me how Whitner shouldn't be
Bflojohn replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is Matt Bowen, but that notwithstanding, Donte Whitner short of injury, will absolutely be the opening day starter. He wasn't taken #8 to back-up anyone. He is good enough to be considered for CB duty in a pinch! I think he'll be brilliant for the Buffalo Bills!! -
I was just surfing through KFFL.com (pg.2) and there is a report that Marv Levy has said they are close. I think he said "I think were close, I hope we're close!" or something to that effect.

SUBJECT TO CHANGE!! That is my suspicion.

As always from those of us on the west coast

Other than Howard Simon, I thought Fan TV and the Empire Sports Network was cheesy, at best! The source of the greatest headache was that boob Art Wander! Wow, how did he stay employed? The "I miss it" part was derived from the FACT that they, at least, had Bills info at training camp throughout the season! Oh, and they were the Sabres station, I sure miss Mike Robitaille!!!!! -
Here's an Interesting Theory...

The 49ers were 1-13 and EARNED the first pick, the problem for them was that they did, indeed, trade it to the Bills for non other than O.J.!!! Hence, the Bills DID select Tom Cousineau and he bolted to Canada! When he wandered back (T.C., that is), the Browns wanted him. A player from "The" Ohio State University in Cousineau was probably a PR move, to some degree! The pick for Jim Kelly was the 14th pick that they acquired from Cleveland. So in a convoluted way, O.J. was a catylst to drafting Kelly in 1983. I believe the Bills owned the Supplemental #1 pick that the Browns wanted for Bernie Kosar. I don't remember what the Bills garnered for this trade as far as who the player ended up being. -
The most glaring evidence why we have not

Oh man, I laughed at the comment about the Camelot Motor Inn! Please tell me THAT place has been leveled by now?!?! -
I suspect that the Eagles and Ravens are glad to see the "other" first round DT signed! Both Bunkley and Ngata are out of camp. As for John McCargo, I'm glad he's done because he will be a force this year in the DT rotation, in my opinion! The deal for Whitner is critical IF he is indeed bent on starting. He missed all the OTA's due to graduation rules that are in place between the NFL and NCAA. I guess "The" Ohio State has a June calender for grads. Donte Whitner can make up for some lost time, but he better NOT drag this out.

I also think Mike Strattons' hit on Keith Lincoln is dotted in there too! That was as well timed a hit as there ever was.....

This play is the prime example of our season.

That film clip demonstates what I truly believe.... Terrance McGee might be in the top 5 in the entire LEAGUE when he gets his hands on the ball. Why doesn't anyone experiment with him on offense. It would give the Bills a shot in the arm and end-arounds would be a thing of beauty!!!!! -
Most underrated Bill of the last 25 years
Bflojohn replied to Buftex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My candidate is non other than Travis Henry! Say what you want about his fumbling, but I think that he really gave it his all as a Buffalo Bill. I do wish that he would have handled the McGahee situation better (in regard to accepting a back-up role) but he is not unlike other athletes who bristle at being pushed back on the "back burner" after starting, and producing!! -
The lower round guys are mostly signing 3 and 4 year contracts. Is this an offshoot of the CBA? I'd think that the 1st rounders are going to go to 5 or 6, but we'll see!

I'm shooting for the condensed version, but here goes... American Football Conference East 1.) New England 11-5 Not long until this nightmare goes away! (may be wishful thinking) 2.) Buffalo 9-7 I DON'T believe all the Dolphin hype, do you? 3.) Miami 7-9 Defense is getting to social security age! 4.) NY Jets 3-13 Poor Mangini, no more Bill to nurse you along! North 1.) Baltimore 9-7 Yes, McNair will elevate this team. 2.) Cincinnati 7-9 Hard fought division will take a toll. 3.) Pittsburgh 6-10 Say bye to Bill Cowher. 4.) Cleveland 4-12 Much more competitive, but tough sledding in this division! South 1.)Indianapolis 10-6 Back to the pack result without Edge! 2.) Jacksonville 8-8 No easy schedule here this year, Titans and Texans are nipping at their heals, Leftwich will get heavy criticism!! 3.) Houston 5-11 Carr will turn the corner, but the franchise is one or two years away. 4.) Tennessee 2-14 Volek, then Young... The Titans are on the clock!! West 1.) Denver 10-6 But just barely.... 2.) Kansas City 9-7 They will show signs of age on offense, and NEW coach doesn't work wonders. 3.) San Diego 7-9 Jettisoned Brees, on comes Rivers to experience growing pains. 4.) Oakland 4-12 pride and poise left this franchise with a 51-3 score years ago,Didn't Shell coach then.... Hmmmm?! National Football Conference East 1.) Philadelphia 10-6 Arguably the best offseason in football powers their return to the top! 2.) NY Giants 9-7 Eli and crew will NOT sneak up on anybody this year. 3.) Dallas 7-9 Oh Drew, how we DON'T miss thee!! 4.) Washington 6-10 Strictly because someone will finish last, Joe Gibbs goes back to racing after this. North 1.) Chicago 9-7 Always favor the defensive team first, IMO. 2.) Green Bay 8-8 Not quite what Brett wants, but NOT BAD!! 3.) Minnesota 6-10 Classic underachievers will ascend to new low. 4.) Detroit 5-11 Marinelli has his work cut out for him. South 1.) Carolina 11-5 Might be best in NFC, love the #1 pick in Williams!! 2.) Tampa Bay 9-7 Gruden finds a QB, but in tough division, he finishes second. 3.) Atlanta 8-8 Vick is a coach killer, mark it down! 4.) New Orleans 6-10 Just like Texans, it's too soon yet. West 1.) Seattle 10-6 Not as dominant in division as they once were. 2.) Arizona 8-8 On the come, see 2007! 3.) St. Louis 6-10 Greatest show on turf is basically over. 4.) San Francisco 2-14 Smith better run and hide, although he will like Davis. Playoffs AFC wild cards Buffalo and Kansas City, NFC Tampa Bay and NY Giants New England and Denver Byes, Carolina and Seattle Byes Wild Card weekend Buffalo over Baltimore (21-17) Indianapolis over Kansas City (42-20) Philadelphia over Tampa Bay (14-13) Chicago over NY Giants (16-3) Divisional games New England over Buffalo (24-21, OT) Indianapolis over Denver (35-24) Chicago over Carolina (7-6) Seattle over Philadelphia (23-10) AFC/NFC Championship games Indianapolis over New England (38-28) Seattle over Chicago (27-7) Super Bowl Seattle over Indianapolis (30-28, Late FG wins it!)

Going to attend my 10th straight Bills camp
Bflojohn replied to AJ1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Question?!.... When you get there, what do you concentrate on first? Are you hot to see the QB competition, or does the work of Jim McNally get you to turn your head? I'm a trench kinda guy, so I'd spend a pretty fair ammount of time watching the lines. I'm wondering about the speed on this D-line, and I'd be fixed on Tuten Reyes and Melvin Fowler! Being in Phoenix, it is a bit impossible to attend. If I ever had the chance though, how is the atmosphere, and do you spend time in Rochester or commute from Buffalo or points in-between? Do you need transportation to and fro (busing?).... just highly curious?!!! -
From Pasta Belly: Wierd competition for the
Bflojohn replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that Jeff Posey is one huge target for people, but I'm inclined to see how well he takes to the cover-2 defense first. Actually, this new defense might paly to his strengths more because he may be asked to rush the passer a bit more than under the old regime. The notion is that he could also play with his hand down at DE on 3rd down, so his value is being highly overlooked by these so-called experts! The Bills, however, are throwing positions wide open to competition, so anything is possible..... it might be Crowell making the move than Mario Haggan, in my opinion, though! -
Convince me Whitner was a good pick
Bflojohn replied to MrLocke's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
just a couple of things.... Harrington was #3 in his draft, Mike Williams was the imfamous #4! Donte Whitner might be special due to the fact that he is uncommon amongst safeties. Roy Williams and Sean Taylor were mentioned and neither one of these guys could swing out to CB at all. I believe Whitner can! His "40" time was 4.37 sec. and that is grounds to think that he could play there until Youboty is ready, as an example (like if Nate leaves). He is versatile enough to play SS or FS, so his value is greater in my eyes than most! Finally, the review that inevitably follows every draft is always full of experts who are paid to make noise, in my estimation. ESPN, for instance, is solely tied to Mel Kiper exclusively! The April 29th coverage will ALWAYS be poor IF Kiper doesn't quite see the "wisdom" of the Bills front office picks. He had McCargo as a 3rd or 4th rounder, so draw your OWN conclusions. One thing is abundantly clear however, he IS a Buffalo Bill, and I'm definately on-board with this selection! -
First off, Timmo 1805, I believe I need the "Readers Digest condensed version" of that story.... whew!? However, after reading this thread, I'm left with only one thing to say. If this story is even remotely true, then Gary Anderson is one pathetic human being (or at least he was) and the Pittsburgh Steelers are just as much to blame, IF this incident is true! The NFL wouldn't touch this with a ten foot pole in 1982, but there would be huge ramifacations in todays' NFL if something like this ever happened. God, draft choices nowadays simply state that whichever team picks them is fine with them. They're "coached" by agents to say this now! Did Anderson actually come out then and declare that he wanted to be a Steeler? Wow, if true, that's amazing!

If you look at this as a rebuilding year
Bflojohn replied to Deep2Moulds46's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is fairly accurate as Marv has begrugingly said that this is, indeed, a rebuilding year. I also think that Marv probably understood the need to eradicate the cancer that permiated this team in 2005. Moulds and Adams were poster children for this dilemma last year. If one looks at this is in positive light, rebuilding can be a benchmark moment for any franchise and is exciting in its own right! The free agency question in 2007 is where I'm banking on the quick turnaround the Bills could make. If you go on the assumption that a majority of the moves in free agency and the draft pan out, (viable improvement, especially second half!), then it's safe to say that fans can feel positive that this team can gain two or three guys in free agency next year, '06, who could push them towards the top. -
J.P. Losman could have been "wet nursed" by Bill Walsh and still had growing pains! In my opinion, he is in need of playing time, and that will start helping him develop. You simply cannot put the cart before the horse in this scenario. He MUST play to improve, case closed!

This guy has absolutely HUGE hands! If anyone here gets the Ourlads report, they had hand size in their guide, and his were the biggest measured for a WR at the combine. I started looking at this "stat" for other positions, and his were comparible to OL's and DL's hands, for size!! They described his hands as soft "catchers mitt" type hands and that he very rarely drops a pass. The reports out of the OTA's are saying EXACTLY THAT!!

Who will suprise the most in camp...
Bflojohn replied to BoondckCL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The most improvement is generally between years one and two, so I think a candidate would be Duke Preston. His ability as a rookie was relatively first rate, and he's had a year of weight room training to sharpen his strength at the point of attack and will probably feel much more "at home" in his second year. Another possibility is Lionel Gates. we'll see whether he has the juice to make the final roster. I'm thinking he gives it his all and makes this football team!!
