  1. Thanks Avenger, THAT made me feel MUCH better!!
  2. #1.) He has been "out there" ALL off season! At best, Kerry Collins is an emergency signing IF your starter goes down. #2.) The Bills are going to commit to Losman, and this type of distraction is unnecessary! #3.) If Holcomb is ushered out of the front door, the Bills will, in all likelihood, bring in a much younger option than Mr. Collins, IMO. #4.) It may be a case, ala Todd Collins in Washington, whereby Steve Fairchild brings in a mentor for J.P. who knows this offense backwards and forwards.
  3. This is strictly either/or with the DL..... Cooper, Neill, and/or Hall are packing their bags and the jury is still out on Sape and Jefferson. With Hunter pushing hard, does Haggan get the heave ho? On the OL, Pennington might go in the next group, however, he is slated for the practice squad, IMO. I think Mr. Gibson stays a while longer and Merz might also be PS material for this year. Brad Butler will make this team along with Greg Jerman and Justin Geisinger. I agree that Ryan Neufeld is in all likelihood a goner. At WR, I think Andre Davis is a casualty along with Freddy. Denney and Nance could both see time on the PS roster. One thing this regime likes to do is promote someone for a game to test their mettle. Me thinks the next candidate for this "honor" is George Wilson!! Wendell Hunter stepped up, why NOT Wilson??
  4. In this league, there are CB's that are vulnerable to the deep pass and I see J.P. Losman chucking more than a few bombs this year. I think his numbers will steadily get better as the year goes on... something like this! 1st half: TD's 7 Yards 1,789 INT's 5 Now, last half: TD's 12 Yards 1,823 INT's 6 Composite: TD's 19, yards 3,612 and 11 INT's...... better than most expect! Record 8-8
  5. I think the Patriots will incorporate TE's like its going outta business! Kevin Faulk always seems to show up against our boys, and Brady really spreads it out to a number of recievers. However, pressure is the key! It was mentioned that terrific Tom will see a lot of Angelo Crowell. The better answer would be to apply a pass rush directly up the gut. NO QB flourishes when he is flushed, harassed, and knocked around. So, in my world, to beat them, the Bills MUST find a heavy pressure pass rush on Brady. Otherwise, he picks the Bills apart as usual. Now the question is, is the "D" up to the task? I think they just might be.... the Bills WILL play hard for Jauron all year, and opening day will be one of their best efforts,IMO!!
  6. Jeez, I'm tuned into the BB.com practice film EVERY NIGHT, but Kelly Holcomb threw an interception off one of his patented "check-down" options. Right between the 5 and the 2 to Wendell Hunter..... His bread and butter doesn't even work now, yikes!!
  7. In J.P.'s interview after the festivities, he mentioned that ball security isn't something that is prevailant in camp because they (QB's) are in their "red uni's" and don't get hit....he did say that ball security will be high on his agenda this week. I'm satisfied with that remark!
  8. I was impressed by Peerless on the first long completion to Lee Evans! He hustled down the field and really tried to "spring him" before the play got eased out of bounds. I'll take that kind of effort EVERY DAY from my WR's!!
  9. Marshall Faulk DID chime in that in his opinion, Josh Reed ran the wrong route. I'm NOT commenting on Dick Jaurons' comment because I actually haven't seen it yet. The end zone view of the play might convince MOST that Faulk is speaking the truth. It was a horrible pattern and Helen Keller could have diagnosed this effort! Keiwan Ratliff had the play telegraphed by Reed and the rest was easy!
  10. I was proactive and called the network! I talked to the head of programing, get this, Tom Brady, and he told me that the teams have the broadcasting "rights" and it cannot be shown on NFL Network until the local affiliate can run the game. He stated that this is the constraint that they MUST abide by, so the telecast was originally scheduled for 10:00 A.M. in Arizona and I had TIVO'ed the event ready to watch today (Saturday). NO such luck! Tuesday is the day they will show the game, as someone had previously noted. They do have a FULL slate of preseason tilts this weekend, so the shift does make sense. I also mentioned that they should mention the rules to the general NFL Network audience. It would help, IMO!!!
  11. I agree! He's had better interviews. I do think that he has been highly frustrated by this setback. I hear it in his voice and see it in his face. The thing about him is that I believe he will have a successful comeback, possibly comeback player of the year!
  12. It was twenty years ago today.... Sgt. Peppers taught the band to play! Actually I remember EXACTLY where I was when they signed Jim Kelly. I was doing laundry in Cheektowaga, at a local laundramat!! GREAT DAY!!!!
  13. I can't help but think of the San Diego Chargers of 3 years ago.... EVERYONE thought they were the WORST team in the league! Poor offensive line, porous secondary, a QB who was nearly run out of town (sound familiar?) so what happened? 12-4 happened! There are plenty of questions with this years edition of the Buffalo Bills, however, anything can and usually does happen. I am NOT overly optimistic either, but if some of the Ifs come up aces, then the Bills could win the division. The Patriots have come back to the pack and the Dolphins might just wilt as opposed to the flowery outlook the national media spins their way. The key in any year is the health of a particular team... we'll see!!!
  14. I really think it was ALL defense this year and ALL offense next year in the 2007 draft. There are, on paper, quite a few OLT types to be had in rounds 1 and 2 next year. It also wouldn't suprise me if TE gets one more tweak before next years' kickoff. I'd say think Sam Baker (USC) or Joe Thomas (Wisc.) and you'll sleep better on Saturday before Sundays' festivities!!
  15. Little known fact, in all the years the Cardinals have been in the Phoenix market, there have been ONLY 16 sellouts! Yesterdays' game was sold out, however, most of the new bandwagon variety group probably got caught in traffic not knowing that getting to a football game early is the answer! As Phxbacker states, Bill Bidwill HIGHLY overestimated the power of NFL football in this market when he moved back in 1988. The demographics here are a "melting pot" population that has Bears, Bills Vikings, Broncos, and EVERY other fan base imaginable. This franchise for 18 years has played 16 ROAD GAMES every year throughout there time in Phoenix. It has been one sorry lot of people in this organization since its move here...
  16. The one comment about Terrance McGee that I have is that he demonstrated the point that Nate Clements better stay because the Bills will be WITHOUT a #1 cornerback if Nate leaves!! The truth is that McGee will bounce back and have a pretty solid year, IMO, but some type of pass rush would be a good thing. I do agree that Ryan Denney played well last night. He is a whipping boy for Bills fans, generally, but he's strong and definately hard to throw over at 6' 7". Chris Kelsay should still start, but his game left questions initially. Jason Peters had a test with Julius Peppers and I like that! This is why this sham of a competition at QB should end.... Losman needs ALL the reps to get ready for opening day in New England. I, too, think that Craig Nall could jump right back into a "position" to claim the #2 job. It's not out of the question that he could beat out Kelly Holcomb. If that happens, then it is not out of the realm of possibility that the Bills might send Holcomb down the road for a younger option. Overall, I'm pleased with the way the Bills hung in against what I thought was the distinct possibility that a "Super Bowl Parade" could have broken out at any minute last night.
  17. Personally, I'd have liked J.P. to start this game as opposed to next week. The "kid gloves" have to come off with him, whereby, J.P. can gauge his progress against the best. That's what he will see for 16 weeks, so there is NO TIME like the present to end this charade! The youngster simply must perform against the best this league provides. The sooner this staff does this, the better!!
  18. O.K., the point was forwarded about "putting the player in position to succeed". Well, if you were Steve Fairchild, what would you run to maximize J.P.'s potential into production? Well, first and foremost, the running game will likely key this attack. I don't think anyone can refute that.....however, the "big play capability" at WR dictates taking shots down the field to get the 8th man out of the box. That is, without a doubt, the most important factor in Willis' output, IMO. So the team must ante up with the QB starter who is most capable of providing big plays. It becomes obvious to me that Losman can deliver in this type of offense. The balance that the long ball will provide, whereby, the Bills can and will strike by way of the pass (both long and short) in a 50-50 mix (ideally!) simply means that the Bills offense has the weapons to score 21 to 24 points per game, on average. That type of output will be ample for this team to win 8 to 10 games this year, I believe!! P.S.- A nice mix of passes to a capable TE would help quite a bit too!!
  19. I am an unabashed J.P. Losman fan! He will fulfill his vast potential, I only hope it is with the Buffalo Bills!
  20. He ran a shallow crossing route for a catch from Donovan McNabb in the TD drive to open the game. Another perfect example that scouting is a totally inexact science!!
  21. Bottom line business here.... I think he's a GREAT kid and he is a Buffalo Bills QB. Pretty simple to me, as I ROOT for the players "they" assemble. I do NOTHING but hope the absolute best for him BECAUSE he is our QB. I like J.P. Losman!
  22. I must be the only one who finds these games interesting.... I like watching guys who are drafted late or sign as free agents. The Raiders selected a WR in the seventh round named Kevin McMahan. This kid sure looked the part, and for a team that has a fair ammount of recieving prowess, he's likely to be cut. The Raiders also sign Jabari Levey, a OT out of South Carolina. Again, he passes the "eyeball test" and played very late in the game. Generally, the Eagles, even in a 16-10 loss are going to be happier about their first teams' efforts than the Raiders group. I thought Aaron Brooks looked like his New Orleans self, and the offense he ran only scored versus the Eagles 2nd string. Conversely, Andy Reid had to love the way Donovan McNabb and his first string "D" performed. I found myself watching Winston Justice real closely, as I anticipated the Bills taking him at #26 back in April. He definately has a ways to go!! For me, the game is a benchmark to start the season, and being excited about football again. Love the NFL!!
  23. Well i'm having a great time following this team THIS year. I, as my esteemed collegue eball, see a direction that the rest of you will have to catch onto at a later date. Try to NOT tip the bandwagon when you jump aboard! Your participation WILL BE greatly appreciated though!!!
  24. Didn't Ferragamo have a 5 TD and 21 INT season for the Bills? I believe he did....that was arguably the worst season for a starting QB in Bills history! YUCK!!
  25. billsfan182.... Matthew Rice is already gone! He was cut a few weeks ago, so practice squad is HIGHLY unlikely for him!!
