The towel has been thrown in...
Bflojohn replied to Kipers Hair's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nobody ever mention this kid, but a guy who looks just as good as Buster Davis is Jonathan Goff, ILB, Vanderbilt. I watched him early this year, and he was ALWAYS around the ball. I believe he registered 14 or 15 tackles and set the tone for their entire defensive unit. Real good player in my view!! -
Adam Schefter of the NFL Network
Bflojohn replied to Pennsyl-tucky's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Go back and look at this game mentally.... On the TD pass over McGee to Jackson, Tom Brady could have knitted a sweater back there! It is just one example of a team contending and a team (Bills) that fights, but just can't beat them, even on a REAL GOOD DAY!! (see the opener!) No one here has mentioned our "world beating" special teams that allowed a huge kick-off return and with the exceptions of Moorman and Lindell, have looked anything but special. The truth is that this team PROVED that they're rebuilding and THAT is now undeniable! If JP Losman is trying to overcome this teams mistakes, then, yes, he is going to be forcing things ALL YEAR! Dick Jauron said at his news conference that JP's the man, and that the "forcefully patient" philosophy will be in full effect. JP Losman WILL start the entire year people, the Head Coach has spoken!! -
Terrence Mcgee, the great wide receiver
Bflojohn replied to daquixers_is_back's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've said previously that getting the ball in the hands of McGee occassionally would be a dynamic that teams would be forced to deal with... maybe another comparison is Tim Anderson, he could be converted to O-line ala Fred Wakefield in Arizona. The truth is that talent evaluators are (or should) always searching for ways to get the optimum out of the players on the roster. It is a very feasable argument, IMO! -
So why didn't the Bills trade Nate Clements
Bflojohn replied to ACor58's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First off, the proposed trade of Clements was problematic because of contract dynamics, IMO. If a team was interested, they would have demanded a long-term contract as a stipulation to any trade proposal. The Bills might have wanted a PULSE coming back the other way, and some teams protect these like cold water in the desert! The flaw in the argument about him being a free agent, hence, "we" can just sign him in March 2007 is that that is assuming that a team interested in Nate would indeed secure his services next year! Has anyone here ever heard of a bidding war? If you are team A and team B,C, and D also want Nate, a trade makes sense, insofar as being able to get your man without the chance that he escapes to the other squad. Sometimes it pays to give (trade) to get the player you need! -
Bills that should stay or go this offseason
Bflojohn replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills COULD gamble this year on Will Peterson, CB, who played for the NY Giants. He is planning a comeback and can be "had" in free agency soon! This way, you can take a look at this guy who is a former 1st rounder, and assess the CB position as to whether or NOT the Buffalo Bills keep or let go of Nate Clements. i'd also get Ashton Youboty playing time in the seasons second half, especially if the Bills seem to be heading for a sub-.500 record. -
I guess the editors at PFW have seen how poorly JP Losman has played too!! GO READ THIS!!

Yeah, there you go, who's this Steve Fairchild guy anyways?! ALL sarcasm aside, the maturation of an NFL Quarterback is going fine in Buffalo, NY. Maybe they change their tune on October 22nd.... HOPE SO!!!

Good poss. 3 Starting OL out for Det vs Bill
Bflojohn replied to coachhillenbrand's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If this news isn't a recipe for a "let's get to Kitna" gameplan, then the Bills are simply stupid..... They (Bills) should "sit" on the run ALL day and create 3rd and longs that they will HOPEFULLY stop the Lions on with somewhere near a 100% non-conversion rate! Well coached teams take FULL advantage of breaks like these, so as a few here are fond of saying.... Get 'r done! -
What to do about McCargo?
Bflojohn replied to MadBuffaloDisease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd add a guy from the Atlanta Falcons practice squad named Tommy Jackson, NT. He was in the draft this year and I watched him at the combine and in the Senior Bowl and he might be the nose tackle that the Bills need, long term. Another youngster, but he's got game when it comes to stuffing the run!! Good push on the pass rush too, he's a load..... -
It's NOT out of the realm of possibility that a 3 game winning streak is on the way! Watch out Detroit, New England, and Green Bay.... 5-3 baby!!!!
-
It won't be just one option, that is for sure! However, the special teams scoring and creating a turnover, along with a career day from Lee Evans might get the "W", IMO. Willis McGahee getting another 25+ carries will help immensely, too!!

I almost laughed myself silly!! I thought his response was classic! If you haven't seen it, it is must see on BuffaloBills.com for anybody who follows this team. I've watched his interviews this year and I must say I think he's handled them ALL very well. Even the Jets postgame interview was a solid response from a frustrated QB who just wants to win!!

My best friend is a Packer backer and he related a story about Ahmad Carroll. In his rookie year, they fitted him with boxing gloves so he would STOP grabbing every reciever he was assigned to cover. He is a man who may need a position change... I'd look at him in OTA's next year as a free safety, because he is lightning fast and is stocky enough to play there, imo! It is worth a shot for some teams out there.... for now though, strictly a dime back in very few packages.

Holy cow, Duke Preston comes off the bench "COLD" and has to get after it against one of the most physically talented DTs in the business! Give him a week of practice before rushing to judgement! By the New England game, he will probably hit his stride, and I wouldn't be at all suprised if he kept Chris Villarrial on the bench when he returns. Personally, I think Preston has been less than settled due to the number of positions the Bills have had him learn in a little under two years. I also think that he is a valuable member of the team. Just my opinion....

I'd say Greg Jerman or Aaron Gibson at this stage due to the fact that they were in camp and know the offense...

Pooch Kick Ruling - - Were we robbed?
Bflojohn replied to Matt in KC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Officials in this league are going to have to take intent out of the mix! The play, when replayed, showed the Vikings lineman made absolutely NO effort to catch that ball. Therefore, how in the world did Kiwaukee Thomas interfere with his right to catch the ball when it's CLEAR he made no attempt!! I will gaurantee that NFL Network will not go within 100 yards of reviewing THAT call. -

I've seeen every Chicago game............
Bflojohn replied to ChicagoRic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills HAVE TO match the intensity level that the Bears bring every week. With that said, the Bills are building a very competitive team that has given indications that they will NOT back down to ANYONE. If the Bills can play smash-mouth football with the Bears ( This is entirely possible!), then a victory is possible. It is a great spot for Dick Jauron to whip his team into a "us versus the world" mentality this week. I'm of the opinion that the Bills try and follow the blueprint of the Carolina Panthers and get Lee Evans highly involved in this contest (ala Steve Smith), and find the weak links that Carolina found last year. My prediction is for the Bills to win a close one 24-20! -
By the way, the media and fans in Arizona are moaning and groaning about their (Cardinals) POOR O-line play and wanting someone off their practice squad like Elton Brown causes me to say just one thing..... NO!!
-
Just for sheer stats, he just passed Carson Palmer for #6 in the AFC with a 90.6 rating. By the way, Tom Brady is 8th right now. JPL has thrown 1 INT in a 4 game streach, and his decision making is lightyears better than last year at this same juncture. Relax boys and girls, he is coming along QUITE NICELY!!!

Belechick accuses Chad Johnson of paying off refs

Any of Andre's teammates in town ??

I coaxed Bruce to sign the cover of SI when he was the featured player prior to the 1991 season. He did sign the cover and a photo inside where he's chasing Randall Cunningham of the Eagles!! I did have to convince him though.... it wasn't easy! -
Im putting a bounty on the head of Joe Theismann

The best malapropism that my son and I still refer to was a John Madden over-excited moment when he exclaimed that a running back diving over the line for a td had jumped 6 yards in the air to score the td! Yeah, John, he leaped 18 feet, which in Olympic events requires a pole vault!!! -
Actually, to me, Sunday DRIPPED with huge potential for this franchise! In many ways this season has been ANYTHING but boring!! If one subscribes to the theory that teams mature over time, then this team is exihibit A. The young QB may have had a game where he matured somewhat and proved that Buffalo weather wasn't a hinderance to his performance. His passes, for the most part, cut right through the wind and rain. Not at all bad, in my book. Willis McGahee has a career day too! The defense has young guns maturing right before our eyes yet somehow this isn't good enough? The question here should be about the future of this franchise, and right now I love the direction their going.... I think it's called "UP".....
