What Needs More Help, Offense or Defense?
Bflojohn replied to jimmy_from_north_buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wish list- offseason 2007... TE Daniel Graham, New England OG Eric Steinbach, Cincinnati LB Lance Briggs, Chicago 1st round- DT Alan Branch, U. of Michigan 2nd round- OG Josh Beekman, Boston College 3rd round- FB Brian Leonard, Rutgers Not too much to ask, IMO. The Bills, with this sort of player influx, would dramatically improve and become an instant contender, IMO! -
I was impressed with the sideline celebration after the JP to Peerless TD! Kelsay was jumping around and EVERYONE took time to give Losman a hearty slap on the back for his first "stirring" comeback victory. I think this game will make a big difference in how the Bills finish out this season. In my opinion, this game was a turning point in the early careers of JP Losman and Lee Evans. Add in a helthy Willis McGahee, and maybe we actually have a triplet grouping going forward!!

Bills end NFL-record losing streak
Bflojohn replied to smokinandjokin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Think about this... until today, when was the last time the Bills "D" actually gave the ball back to the offense to, at least, try and win a game? That, too, might have been an NFL record drought! -
what the hell Kubiak is thinking? If "you" (Texans) have been gouging the Buffalo Bills with your running game, and the chance is there to run out the clock, why, oh why are the Houston Texans NOT doing the obvious as time is definately against the Buffalo Bills? if the situation was reversed, Bills fans would be diving out of 5th story or higher buildings asking EXACTLY the same thing, IMO!!!

finally someone with a clue not mindlessly ...
Bflojohn replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Someone asked 20 some posts before, but I'll chime in... Kyle Young, C, Fresno State is touted by some to be SOOO good that he could possibly play OT in the pros! Quite an astounding evaluation, IMO! Now onto the offensive woes, which are almost too numerous to mention (but I'll take a crack at it!). I find it interesting that various outlets are disecting this offense, and the truth is that, as a group, they are ready to totally implode due to ALL of the aforementioned problems. Wrong routes, dropped passes, no TE production, O-line woes that create nausea and a QB who is STILL felling his way as a Pro....man, it can't get anymore complex for Dick Jauron and Steve Fairchild! These two are WELL AWARE of the depth of distress this offense presents. The simple answer, if there is one is to find FOOTBALL PLAYERS at approximately 7 out of 11 positions, and THAT is no joke!! Difference makers are in SHORT SUPPLY in Buffalo, New York on both sides of the ball. The free agency period and the draft will HAVE TO BE extremely good (downright excellent!) to change the fortunes of this franchise. My final word on this is that the rebuilding CAN be done this next offseason by Marv Levy, now only time will tell!! -
If we are in the top 5 picks next year....
Bflojohn replied to ans4e64's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Take a mental note here Bills fans.... If the Bills have a shot at Gaines Adams, DE, Clemson, HE IS THE PICK!! Personally, I believe that he will skyrocket quite like the meteoric rise that Mario Williams achieved last year. Gaines Adams is Williams ALL OVER AGAIN! He is a player who will demand double teams ala Julius Peppers. He is in this class of player, IMO! I guess this is a "write in" pick! -
Never, ever play to lose! EVER! Now, it is apparent that the Buffalo Bills will finish 5-11 or 6-10 on merit, so draft somewhere around 8-12 and trade down with a team that "has to have" the next Superstar and take excellent player(s) that make a team whole! That's the plan, and I'm sticking with it. Note/ disclaimer: IF the Bills run off 5 or 6 wins, I'd love that too!!!
-
Mental note from 1988.... Please no more RB's from Oklahoma State University, we took Terry Miller and he bombed! Leave That Thurman Thomas on the draft board. How would that assessment affected the Bills of the 90's? Sure glad Bill Polian didn't listen to the fans then, and I'm positive Marv won't now. Justin Blaylock could solve a whopping big problem at ORT or ORG. Enough said!!

First Drive 3-3 converting 3rd Down...
Bflojohn replied to AnthonyF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have wondered to myself how a team can exploit a CB like Jason David ALL the way down the field and NOT go back to the well anymore the WHOLE GAME!! Lee Evans OWNED HIM throughout the entire 1st quarter, however, I guess it wasn't deemed neccessary to success on Sunday! Just curious...... -
I am going to take a radical view here for a moment.... The Coaching Staff is being VERY careful with J.P. Losman with his learning curve in regards to staying in the pocket and building the discipline to do so, and working through his progressions. I also am beginning to believe that the playcalling is being handled in such a way as to NOT shatter his confidence while this team rebuilds. If someone labels the results as ultra consevative, then I'd tend to agree! Think about this for a moment, bad habits are generally witnessed throughout this type of process (Rebuilding), in the NFL, and washouts at Quarterback are evident because of it historically. If the braintrust DOES think that given time, J.P. can be the answer, it would make all these points valid to some extent. It seems to me that Dick Jauron and Steve Fairchild are probably making him aware that this is the plan for his success, and that he must face the fire of being in the crosshairs with fans, and the media in 2006, so 2007 can become the turning point in his career. A tough pill to swallow, but sometimes discression is the better part of valor. This is another spin, so blast away sportsfans!!!

There is NO versatility because there isn't enough talent to use/run it! If I were King, I'd keep Evans, Parrish, Peters, Fowler, McGahee and Losman and jettison the rest! Think about it... Gandy left tackle, left guard and ultimately left out! Robert Royal is serviceable, but there isn't a viable starter at TE, he's no better than a second guy. A number two reciever? Uh, NO, the option doesn't exist! Offensive right side blocking..... they ALL are goners! Villarrial is a turnstile and Pennington might develop, in time, but certainly isn't a starter in the National Football League, at this juncture. Those hanging on the OFF CHANCE Brad Butler is the answer, think again! There just isn't anywhere near enough talent, and THAT is the basic issue in Buffalo.

Wake up people... this offense is brutal all the
Bflojohn replied to zonabb's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Case in point today.... Jason Peters gets beat by Dwight Freeney, but gets JUST enough of him to ride him wide and Freeney ONLY gets a hand on J.P. Losman. The conventional "wisdom" on this and other boards is Losman will NOT step up. Well, lo and behold he does and guess what.... he steps right into Anthony McFarland up the middle! Why, you may ask? Well, it is because Mike Gandy had NOTHING BETTER TO DO other than watch Jason Peters on the play! I'm NOT joking here either, the guy stands there observing the carnage and HIS GUY goes in for the sack! Go watch this play yourself and see if I'm kidding! I couldn't believe this play and it TYPIFIES the nature of THE PROBLEM... this O-line needs to be blown up, without question! Peters stays, Fowler MAYBE (More a quality back-up), and rebuild the entire unit from scratch. I'm completely convinced that free agency and the draft BETTER solve this GLARING problem or this squad will NEVER WIN! Plain and simple! -
Did anyone here feel that the Bills established that Lee Evans could have beaten the heck out of the Colts CB Jason David throughout this contest? Talk about taking a HUGE PLUS and degating it! The Bills are NOT at all confident in the overall scheme or design at this point, and that is abundantly clear to me!! It is paralysis by analysis IMO!

Your humor is stunted!

The truth in this is that the #2 reciever is a luxury item until the offeensive and defensive lines are reconstructed! I've said that a bonified #2 is something that the Bills need "down the road", howvever, that scenario is two or three years away unless they get Marques Colston lucky!! NOT TOO LIKELY!

JP's time to throw, compared to Manning & Brady
Bflojohn replied to Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My simple retort is the New England Patriots against the Buffalo Bills at the Ralph....On Tom Bradys' TD pass to the rookie WR Chad Jackson, you could have timed that throw with a sun dial when considering release. He literally had ALL DAY and if the play was still running, the Bills front would still be stymied at the LOS!!!! I dare anyone to point up a play for J.P. that afforded him THAT kind of time. IMO, 98% of the time he is harried and pressured or sacked outright. This argument is truly apples and oranges when Brady and Manning get used in the sample data, J.P. is NOT a mature QB in their vein and his supporting cast should be sued for NON-support!! -
The "head case" theory is BULL SCHITT!! He brought his younger brother, who plays WR at Erie Community College, so he could keep an eye on him and as I understand it, they're living together. If nothing else, this kid is heroic in his efforts to hold his familys' phyche in one piece. Personally, I'd say this youngsters' maturity tells the truth about his future in Buffalo. My opinion is he'll make huge strides in the offseason and really come on in the OTA's!!

Age of TBD Poster who is for or against JP
Bflojohn replied to diver's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Half a century! I'm firmly in the column of providing a supporting cast for Mr. Losman. The evaluation is faulty if you understand the limits this team straps him with. If J.P. cannot produce from game one next year with what I'm praying is a sounder offense, then the dye would be cast, IMO. Franchise QB's do not, let me repeat, DO NOT grow on trees, so the braintrust at OBD has to be very sure about the assessment that is taking place. A bonified #2 reciever, a seam running threat at TE, and at least two new starters from either the draft or free agency on the OL. This has to be done before anyone can convince me he does or DOESN'T have "it" !!! -
If, and that is a big IF, the Bills get into the backfield and harrass Lord Peyton, somewhat like the Patriots did Sunday night, I think he might have one of his fits, railing on his O-line! Also, if I'm Dick Jauron here, I never abandon the running game, no matter the score in the first half. The looming a$$-kicking aside people, I'd still attack this team where they are MOST vulnerable. The mere fact that the Colts had a hand full with Tennessee and the NY Jets points up that they are NOT without flaw themselves. Any team that ranks near the bottom in rush "D" can be beat....plain and simple! Now the queston is is Buffalo up for the challenge?

One thing that should make each one of us.......
Bflojohn replied to Lv-Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All I can say is "Commitment to EXCELLENCE", and the phrase....Pride and poise!! Those Raideresque monikers disappeared the moment they flew home from a 51-3 drubbing at the hands of the Buffalo Bills!!! TRY THAT ONE ON FOR SIZE!!! -
Rising Salary Caps, Weak Free Agents
Bflojohn replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gordio, I agree with you to a certain extent. I'd say that the building of the D-line is still incomplete, oh say about 75% of the way there. The Bills need run stopping DT's in the rotation and pure speed on the outside. I, do, however, believe that Kyle Williams and John McCargo could very well be two foundational types in that Tampa-2 defense. I'm really anxious to see Anthony Hargrove coming off the bye week. He is one of several players I've got particular interest in watching real closely. The other two who I have a keen interest in are the OT's, Terrence Pennington and Jason Peters. -
wouldn't find this outside of WNY
Bflojohn replied to buffalobillsfootball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
THAT is one outstanding post!! I really appreciate the fact you shared that with me (us!). The people of Buffalo, New York always have a reason to be proud of their city and their community. My heart STILL resides there... -
Packers Fact Sheet for this game
Bflojohn replied to CaliforniaCheez's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Go to the bottom of their tip sheet, and the last meeting in Buffalo was a 27-18 victory for the Bills. Interestingly, it also may have been one of Rob Johnsons' strongest efforts in a Bills uniform! He threw for three TD's, one to Jeremy McDaniel and two to Jay Riemersma. The Packers, that day, shot themselves in the foot with three fumbles. That is what plagues the Bills right now.... -
You, my friend are right!! I'm "here" typing on a Bills website with my Bills T-shirt on.... Sheer madness!! I'm EXACTLY LIKE YOU, the promise of that Super Bowl parade is too enticing to give up on the dream! I know I NEVER WILL!!! So here goes...GO BILLS!!
-
In the Dolphins defense, (I can't believe I'm doing this!) weren't they losing ORG's left and right and center? I think 27 players ended up on I.R.! O.K., slight exaggeration, but I remember them being just a little bit DESPERATE, and Bennie Anderson sure fits THAT description!!!
