  1. Fandom is broken down to Biblical associations, IMO. The good word says we all have Faith, Hope, and Love with love being the greatest of these! First off, as a Bills fan, I have a passion for this team (we all do!) and esentially I have hope (especially now) and a faith that the decisions by the front office have been sound, in a football sense. One can choose to complain and find fault, however, I've noticed that no one here has the last word on personnel, trades, draft picks etc., so relax and enjoy as the initial thrust of this post suggests, you'll enjoy the ride MUCH MORE! By the way, I am NOT myopic, and realize that the bad decisions and play of the past are obvious sign posts along the way. Last year, offensively, was "paint drying" obnoxious!!!
  2. Teddy Roosevelt was a man's man, and in those words proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he truly understood the struggle to be great, and that falling short has its own noble place. I agree that this immortal pronouncement typifies the Buffalo Bills constant striving for four years! Bully pulpit indeed!! By the way, historically, he became President due to the assasination of William McKinley in BUFFALO, New York!!!
  3. Just a thought, why couldn't Ralph Wilson Stadium be Tim Russert Stadium for one game, oh, say the home opener! The Bills could hold a press conference to announce the temporary change of the venues name. I think it works... you could also rename the pressroom after his wife and the lockerroom after Luke. It is simply honorary in nature and is respect for ALL fans, famous or not!!!
  4. I always had a notion that I would eventually meet Tim Russert. In reality, the chances were remote, but in many ways I felt the affinity for him as a Buffalonian and Bills fan! I've shifted gears slightly, hoping that one day I can meet Luke before I pass off of this earthy coil. It is a tough weekend knowing of his passing, but if God is listening to me, the perfect tribute to Tim Russert would be a Super Bowl Championship this year for his (and our) beloved Bills! After 9/11's attack(s), the Patriots* won the Championship, and this would be fitting too, in my mind.....
  5. You've got to have it in the stadium, without doubt! Throghout the game so cameras always pan to the signs, and tributes around the field and scoreboard...
  6. I thought that the heavy emphasis on rotation was history! My understanding is that they will be leaning more on the starters this year with less substitution patterns. In the article I read, McCargo and Stroud were the players mentioned as starters....
  7. Priorities for me are The Father, family, friends and football. The 4 "f's"..... I, too, love the Bills and can't EVER get enough! Carry on my friend!!!
  8. ....Bucky Brooks...... OUCH!!
  9. I can hear the drum beat in the "not too distant future" being owner colussion and restraint of trade for those older veterans he (Lombardi) weeded out of his master plan! Believe me, law suits will be the order of the day when Pandora's box is slung wide open. The NFL as we know it might just reorganize to form a newer, more streamlined version of its former self. Why not, they have NO competition, to speak of, and the antitrust exemptions will still be available, in my opinion, when the dust settles. If the owners really want price constraints for salaries and overhead, they may eventually opt to collectively dismantle the old and usher in the new league under essentially the same guidelines. Its their toy, so they can obstentiably make the rules!!! Money talks, and in this possible squabble between millionaires and billionaires, I'd weigh in on the big boys winning the fight!
  10. Wow, is this player becoming the quintessential Buffalo Bill? Like Thurman Thomas and Jim Kelly before him.... loyalty, team, leadership and mentorship of younger players from a 3rd year pro. This, to me, is the best article to point out that the Bills have this plan down, and the results will likely be extrordinary!! How can any Bills fan NOT enjoy this type of commitment, it makes me a pretty happy guy today!
  11. QB versus OLT money, I'd gather.... It sure was a tidy sum though. Good for the Falcons, he'll be at every OTA and training camp workout and practice. That's good P.R. folks!!
  12. Their overall health is most important, and scheduling does line up nicely. Turk Schonert has to get better production from this offense, and I personally believe he will accomplish this part of the equation. It will NOT be K-Gun like, but they will score more TD's in the red zone with Turk running the show. Defensively, this team will be better and I'm expecting across the board improvement!! More sacks/pressures, more INT's and many more three and outs! I also feel that this defense will give the offense more short fields throughout the season. Special teams will be energized by McKelvin, Bowen, and Ellis getting impact plays in a pretty good number of games! I'd say that 10-6 is extremely likely because Dick Jauron and staff has proven that they can get the players to perform above expectations. THAT is a huge advantage with such a young team too!! Color me very optimistic.....
  13. As for the comment about being second string in ATL, I really think he's subject to a team "going in a different direction" and his play was going to be sacrificed for younger, developmental talent. I am not sure if he's washed up or if he is still a legit threat at WR in the NFL?!?!
  14. Pure logic would dictate the advantage MUST have been a good one because they did this for 8 years!! Otherwise, the exercise was a colossal waste of time and resources. The question seems to be whether the Patriots gained the advantage during the contest with taping going on..... well they did this in an AFC Championship game, so again logic would seem to dictate an advantage was gainged during the game, to me! They were simply NOT gaining an advantage for NEXT season, that's totally illogical, people! They concieved of a way to telegraph information DURING a game "in progress", so as to gain their unfair advantage. The other "fly in the ointment" to me is the caveat of "don't get caught" and I doubt the evil empire had ONLY Mr. Walsh doing this for the good of the effort to CHEAT! I do believe the walk thru does exist.... but that's just me!!!
  15. If the glove fits, you must......
  16. Just my two cents.... the premise of this post is that Donte Whitner will elevate his game into an elite status. My feelings are that with the offseason moves being complete, it is NOT out of the realm of possibilities that Mr. Whitner could, indeed, achieve this lofty goal. Now, will he?? I would err on the side that he will remain a vital cog in a highly improved defense going forward. By the way, I'd also offer that elite, to me, would be a series of Pro Bowl appearances and furthermore, Donte is getting awfully close to that type of recognition, IMO!!! I seriously hope he gets there for all our sakes, including his!!!
  17. Just a thought here, but I NEVER have bought into the "curse" aspect, I feel truly blessed to have been born in Western New York along with many, many other Bills fans, and the joy the Bills bring to me by being my lifeline back to my roots. I believe that I support the finest city and best fans that this country has ever produced, and the team is always in my thoughts and heart to this day. Win or lose, I will always have faith that one day, the Championship banner will fly high above Ralph Wilson Stadium!!! Hopefully sooner than later, obviously! GO BILLS!!
  18. I've wondered about this, but why doesn't the network feature other teams (hint... Buffalo) or do other teams simply NOT want television cameras all over the field, meeting rooms and dorm rooms 24/7? I find Dallas a little more than boring, although the players have changed over somewhat since their last kick at this can!
  19. My best friend and I share the same brain, but now I come to understand I share a heart with you!! Thank you and God Bless my friend.
  20. I expect Brad Butler to look much more comfortable in his role at ORG. Wasn't he one of the "lights out" players working out two months ago? I imagine he is raring to go this year!
  21. Brian Griese is a Tampa Bay Buccaneer! He is reunited with Jon Gruden again....
  22. Fan in San Diego,I didn't say "move up from round two, I said mortgage the future pick in 2009 (1st rounder) to find two impact players in THIS years draft! Obviously, the Bills would have to package another pick to pull this off, but San Francisco did this last year for OT Joe Staley, that's why the Patriots own the 7th overall pick this year. I wouldn't mind a combo of Derrick Harvey and Limas Sweed, as an example. This type of bold move could put the Bills into contention, IMO!!
  23. I believe he's talking about picking at 11 and moving back into the first round (probably pick 25 or lower) and getting two first rounders. My feeling is that the Bills might mortgage the 2009 1st rounder to find the impact players this year. The value for a 1st next year is equivilent to the 16th pick next year (middle pick in the round).
  24. San Diego at #27 is without quite a few of their draft picks this year. They would probably listen to an offer to get back into the first round. Green Bay and the NY Giants are other likely trade partners at 30 and 31, IMO! Dallas, if the guys they are interested in slip ( WR Malcolm Kelly as an example) and will be available later in the second round. The better teams are much moreinclined to deal, because they can simply stockpile picks for later use.
  25. I'll weigh in, but sans the "expert" title. I believe that the restructured offense will be tailor made for his strengths, especially after announcing that he is their guy! A huge tip off on the style was mentioned this week, IIRC, where the Bills made it known that they will introduce 3 step drops to aid in Trent Edwards' presnap reads. The recognition for him MUST be there, IMO, because the 3 step drop is a quick hitting attack! Welcome to the world of slants by our WR's, especially if the reads are reactionary (audibles) to a blitz pickup prior to the snap. The audibles are also a key to where they want to take TE, going forward! I, personally, want a more sound scheme to attack in the red zone!!!
