  1. The pick of Shawn Nelson is simply huge, in the sense that he is probably the best athlete at that position in the entire history of this franchise. I'd say the only two legit threats at this position EVER were Ernie Warlick and Pete Metzelaars! This kid has then beat, and if he stays healthy, watch out. I'm very excited by his selection and really thought we'd lose out after a run on TE's in the third round. Man, the draft was kind to us this year. I DON'T believe in omens, but things are breaking nicely this offseason, IMO!!!
  2. I will admit that I thought the draft broke the Bills way when Brian Orakpo fell to #11. Generally, the opinions about Aaron Maybin have been mixed, at best, however, I have seen comments that boost my hopes for him in a Bills uniform. Pro Football Weekly had a promotion for those who purchased their draft magazine, and in the on-line version there was an anonymous scout who said ( I'm paraphrasing) that he wished his team had a crack at Aaron because, in his view, he could be anything you wanted him to be!! I assumed this meant 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB. Now, for the offensive line talk.... Langston Walker will get something Jason Peters didn't have ALL year and that's a mean, nasty OLG next to him in Eric Wood! The cutting of Derrick Dockery was a HINT about the source of a LOT of the ills the O-line sufered along with the sheer ignoring of Melvin Fowler and Duke Preston in free agency. A revamped interior line might make quite a few fans VERY HAPPY this year, IMO.
  3. I thought you meant optimistic for the draft. I, too, have the same feelings about the youngsters. Additionally, I also believe that the Bills will add quality players through this draft Saturday and Sunday!
  4. Russ Lande of The Sporting News just loves this guy and has mocked him as high as 9 to Green Bay! The latest version had him going to Washington at 13 however. He also has mocked him to the Bills at 11, so some scouts see the potential in him, others have reservations, especially with his hand in the dirt. I feel that a years weight training in an NFL city will alleviate ALL the fears! To me, he's a football player and a good one to boot.
  5. Welcome to "draft world" where disinformation, smoke screens, outright lies and deceit are the themes ALL teams descend to prior to ANY draft!! The real suprises, to me, are going to be Detroit Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Oakland with their picks ahead of us (maybe wishful thinking) and someone we don't have as a likely Bills pick will fall. Just a hunch, but IF Detroit takes a OLT with the first pick, then all bets are off! I'm guessing Brian Orapko or B.J. Raji fall to 11, and the Bills will select Orapko. jsu a word to the wise, DON'T take it to the bank....
  6. John from Hemet... I'll finish your sentence, if you don't mind. I hope Aaron Schobel burns him for 5 sacks the next time we play, which will be this upcoming Super Bowl!! Might as well aim high....
  7. I doubt highly that Baltimore takes Pettigrew, they just signed L.J. Smith the TE formerly from Philly. Anyway here goes... Cleveland Browns- Brian Orapko, DE Detroit Lions- Mark Sanchez, QB at #11 in a trade up with Buffalo Cincinnati Bengals- Michael Crabtree, WR Jacksonville Jaguars- B.J. Raji, DT Buffalo Bills- Brandon Pettigrew, TE at #20 in trade down with Detroit (we also get 33 in the deal!) You guys forgot trades, didn't you??
  8. I read about players such as Max Unger and his versitility, well give me the center who darn well CAN PLAY center, give me the guards who can play guard and so forth! I believe that sometimes this ends up as a jack of all trades and a master of none!! I want production, versitility is nice, but be able to play were your put along that line.
  9. The drafting of Patrick Willis was exactly one pick ahead of the Bills pick and it was the San Francisco 49ers who took him! We selected Marshawn Lynch with the next pick! Guess what.... the 49ers are right in front of us again, so does lightning strike twice? I'd hope they'd look at a pass rushing DE or OLB with their pick.
  10. In particular order: 1.) Aaron Curry, OLB, Wake Forest 2.) Brian Orakpo, DE, Texas 3.) Tyson Jackson, DE, L.S.U. 4.) Alex Mack, C, California 5.) Cornelius Ingram, TE, Florida 6.) Duke Robinson, OLG, Oklahoma 7.) Evander "Ziggy" Hood, DT, Missouri 8.) Brian Cushing, OLB, U.S.C. 9.) Eric Wood, C, Louisville 10.) Chase Coffman, TE, Missouri ANY combination of 3 of these guys in the first 3 rounds would make this an Excellent draft year!!

  12. I think that teams like the Bills have a very good handle on what will transpire on draft day. The trade down philosophy I hear about the most is a team will "target" three players it covets, and calculate the possibilities of whether or NOT they can move down and still acquire their guy. NFL Network had a segment and the Seahawks brass was in their War Room and they stated that they, as a rule, will NOT trade down any further than 6 spots to insure that they land the player they want.
  13. Mine is a real darkhorse candidate, but I'm sticking with it Larry English, DE, Northern Illinois Some scouts think he's going to be a great pro, such as Russ Lande of The Sporting News.
  14. You NEVER finished the sentence.... Tim Tebow will win the Super Bowl, for the Buffalo Bills!! There, much better!
  15. I met Adam at the 2006 draft, and he treated me quite well. I wish him nothing but the best, and I told him, at the time, his segment on NFL Network was the one I MOST looked forward to, so maybe I caused the problem.....he took my endorsement right to management!!
  16. God Bless you for your service to our country. I was enlisted and went to Lackland AFB in August of 1974, and went to training at a base that doesn't even exist anymore, Chanute AFB in Illinois! My duty was maint. of Full Flight Simulators at Luke AFB and I stayed here long enough to open a bank account, find my bride and have some kids (2). So, anyhow, on to your question.... the Pittsburgh Post Gazette reported a week or so ago (from memory) that they had whispers that Kendall Simmons recovery from an achilles tendon injury were NOT going well and that his quickness and lateral movement were hindered greatly, at this point! If so, he probably didn't pass the Bills physical, and they are awaiting his FULL recovery.
  17. Damn, no votes for John Rauch or Harvey Johnson? What about Hank Bullough? Kay Stephenson anyone? ANYONE?? Lou Saban is the best the Bills have had in their history, IMHO! I was a wee lad of 8 and 9 years old when Lou won those championships, but he defeated the San Diego Chargers who were, on paper, the better team overall. I don't think Marv can be credited with rising above when put to that scrutiny! I love Marv Levy, but please remember Lou Saban for what he truly was...... a great coach!
  18. All things considered, he is 32 years old and his last chance is staring him in the face. I'd say that his best option (if he still wants to play) is to look into opportunities where he can play guard. I'm on the fence about bringing him back to Buffalo though.....
  19. 1.) Rhett Bomar- Coaches son who has all the tools to play in the NFL, and he exudes confidence, to me. His future has gunslinger written all over it, IMO! 2.) Eugene Monroe- OLT that will be invited to numerous Pro Bowls in his career. Michael Lombardi of NFL Network said he has the best feet he's seen since Tony Boselli. I'm sold....... 3.) Clay Matthews, Jr.- I'm a little suprised he's NOT been mentioned much in this thread. This guy walks on as a 166 lbs. freshman, and leaves USC as a bonified first round prospect. He has Buffalo Bills written all over him, IMO!! 4.) James Casey- Thor is his nickname..... Nuff said!! 5.) Evander "Ziggy" Hood- Maybe my favorite player, all he does is go snap to whistle EVERY PLAY!! He performed well at the combine and he'd look GREAT next to Marcus Stroud. I like Kyle Williams, but he can be replaced, as a starter, IMO. 6.) Alex Mack- I want him anchoring the Bills line for 12 or so years! I know I can't have all of these guys, but three would suffice!!!!
  20. Stay put in round two and take best player available, TE is pretty deep this year!
  21. Just saying, but Bruce Smith wandered into Buffalo, New York and weighed 300+ lbs. and didn't dedicate himself until he caught a whiff of how difficult the NFL really was, at his position. It is easy to paint this young man with the bust label, however, we all can recall how immature we were at 22 years of age. God knows, I wouldn't have a clue how I'd have responded in retrospect, and anyone who says that they are positive about the results they would have produced is just kidding themselves. He is, undoubtedly, a talent, we will see! I'm rooting for the kid personally.....
  22. Can anyone say PREMATURE!! Let's see what transpires in the rest of March and into April and THEN decide. There is still plenty a franchise can do between now and then.....
  23. Ummm, no thank you! I watched his "workout" and unless he's fitted with a bra, he'll knock himself out. He should have NEVER taken off his shirt....yikes!!! He, quite possibly, is the worst looking athlete I've every seen run the forty.
  24. What will PISS off this fanbase is when the N.F.L., in their infinite wisdom gives Toronto a Monday Night Game! I can't wait for that "perfect storm" to rage!
  25. There is president to the T.O. affair, insofar as his behavior! John Gruden simply sent Keyshawn Johnson home when he acted up down in Tampa. The Bills gauranteed the $6.5 mil. contract but NOT his place on this team IF he blows up. This could be the hammer held over him, when he gets the urge to vent about Teammates, Coaches, or Management. The mantra to Terrell Owens should simply be "shut up and play", no doubt about it. Everyone, Nation wide would just nod their collective heads if it ever came to this, and he's a FOOL if he doesn't realize it! This is his last stop otherwise!!!
