Probably the Cubs simply because they rarely even make the playoffs! The Bills lost 4 Super Bowls, so they were "close" once upon a time! It would be epic for either fanbase, IMO!

Cold weather team, smash mouth team, run-and-shoot, Finesse, West coast offense? Who cares as long as their winning? If Mike Holmgren came to Buffalo and launched the West Coast and succeeded, who here is going to complain? Philosophy is irrelevant, winning is the goal. Keeping the eyes on the prize is the answer! Win the Super Bowl is the objective however it's achieved....

Will everyone be on board with the next hire?
Bflojohn replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In my mind, one thing is certain, IF any Bills coach from now on says that winning games in this league is hard, that's immediate grounds for dismissal. I agree with the rebuilding scheme in the front office first, because this franchise has put the cart in front of the horse WAY TOO MANY TIMES!!! Let football guys try and produce football results, and that will weigh heavily in the Bills favor, although there are NO gaurantees. Personally, I'd go young General Manager and experienced head coach, we'll see the changes soon, hopefully! -
Does a team need to hit rock bottom to become great
Bflojohn replied to Coach55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The fingerprint for each franchise is fairly clear when you simply look to the owner, IMO! Dan Snyder wins the mythical March Super Bowl with his wild spending frenzies, but his TEAM is a mess come September, as a rule. The Cowboys are ingrained with the arrogant moniker of America's Team, and their owner is ALL ABOUT self promotion. The Arizona Cardinals are essentially Bill Bidwill throughout the history of this club, except that now, his son is more "hands-on" than his dear old dad. The Pittsburgh Steelers are fan bliss because they "get it" and know that continuity is key!! THAT blueprint is the road to success, with the caveat that the road to your future championship is likely to run through Pitsburgh, PA. at some juncture!!! -
The bar is set really low this week for me
Bflojohn replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hey Red, he's simply allowing for Jairus Byrd's T.D. return for this week, the offense will "chime in" with two thrilling field goals!!! -
What's with all the negative vibes?
Bflojohn replied to mikeyarch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here, let me be the first to bouy everyone's spirits! I believe that due to his age, Ralph Wilson will revamp the entire organization, top to bottom. Armed with a new front office and Head Coach and staff, the Bills will parlay this new era into nearly instant success. The Offensive Line will mature with this season behind them and the draft will allow for a harvest of top notch talent, including the next GREAT signal-caller, we've all been waiting on for a decade and a half!! Thus, armed with a retooled offense and 3-4 defense, the Bills make noise as the next "up and coming" franchise with a playoff berth and 1st round (divisional) victory. Bills fans unite, and the way will be clear to start feeling proud, yet again!! GO BILLS!!!! -
Bills staying in Buffalo - The Economics 101
Bflojohn replied to CodeMonkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The global market argument here, IMO, holds no water because the product would not sell oversees. The hoopla would wear off quickly, and the mere notion of running this venture from a scheduling standpoint is absured. The sheer quality of play would suffer terribly, not to mention injury concerns from fatigue, and jet lag alone would cause athletes too much stress overall, especially for the next scheduled game. Additionally, expansion of the current schedule of games would be pushed to 18 undoubtedly. I'm completely skeptical when this analysis crops up, and soccer would strangle this brand of American Football, without question! The occasional game played in London or Mexico City could garner revenue as a curiosity, but I find it hard to believe that, going forward, this will work. I think I am persuaded by the idea that the overwhelming cost of relocation and the league approval side of the equation make me hopeful that Buffalo Bills football will remain viable for the foreseeable future. -
I turned to my son with that last drive for a TD, and said THAT'S exactly what they've done to us for 5 years, and that's win with a 5 minute drive to "put it away"!! 24-13 with the scoring drive and I'm thinking, ding dong the witch is dead! OH, no, not for Bills fans!! Where does a team develop a go for the throat mentality? From it's coach, and this particular coaach doesn't have one!!This, to me is the protypical Dick Jauron failure! Anything that can or will go wrong naturally does! This team has the necessary talent to win, but it is with a new regime that it will come to fruition! Bet on it!!

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN PASHOS ON TRADE BLOCK
Bflojohn replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Joe Panos was pretty good in Philly, but couldn't ever stay healthy in Buffalo, so essentially, I disagree. I'd wait it out because Jacksonville cannot justify caring this guy (maybe) beyond the cutdown date. He will probably be waived, in other words!! -
Usain Bolt reported to run a 3.73 second 40...
Bflojohn replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The actual time I heard was 3.82 in the hand timed 40 the NFL uses at the combine. I Tivo'd the ESPN segment to make absolutely sure I caught the correct time. If I understood the whole analyses, it accounted for a sprinter's stance and take-off, so essentially he did say that the conditions would be highly similar. Just trying to clarify what I percieved from the spot ESPN ran. -
What it takes to be a good NFL QB
Bflojohn replied to Nervous Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hey, let's "face" it, John Elway was Mr. Ed gentlemen! Peyton Manning is a bit of a mug and Jim Plunkett was hideous!! The entire sample size MUST be analyzed just a bit better, huh?? -
Wouldn't it be sweet if the Bills picked him up and cut him in the street a week or two later. Pay back can be a B word!! Go Billls!!

ESPN's Roger Cossack earlier tonight said that he was told that the prosecution had a weak case because the man was NOT in a crosswalk and darted out in front of Stallworths' car, possibly to get to a bus stop. Stallworth never fled the scene of the crime and willingly cooperated with authorities. By the way, Stallworth also has a permanent suspended or revoked license, and has 1,000 hours of community service, and is technically under "house arrest" for two years and he has "made peace" with the victims family, both asking for forgiveness and monetarily too, I believe. So, I'd say that he didn't completely walk away with JUST the months incarceration. It was more than meets the eye, in my opinion, plus Stallworth also said that he is left with the anguish of carrying this tragedy with him for his entire life!! He has genuinely shown himself to be a standup guy who accepted his plight and made the right decisions throughout! How many football players today can we say that about.... oh, I'd say not many!!

The guy is going to Miami to WORK with Ray Lewis and that, my friends, is going to be WORK!! The initial reaction I have is that he is already sounding like a very solid pick, and someone HAS TO BE NFL rookie of the year on defense.... WHY NOT HIM? Every year, teams in this league draft studs who make their mark in the first year, and frankly, Buffalo fans are becoming notorious for thinking the team WILL draft duds. Personally, I think this attitude SUCKS! Simply put, Aaron Maybin is a DE for our Buffalo Bills, and as such, let's take the path less taken and readily "billieve" that he will, indeed, become a Pro Bowler!! It's got to start somewhere, why NOT HIM!! I already default to this way of thinking on other players we've selected, and I won't stop now..... To name a few, Posluszny, Levitre, Wood, Byrd, Edwards, Nelson, Lynch, Steve Johnson, McKelvin, Whitner, Corner, and, oh yes Maybin!! Starts to be a very promising list, if you ask me!!

Bills exploring building a new stadium
Bflojohn replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, let me add a different slant to this story.... Suppose Mr. Ralph Wilson is actually trying to cement the legacy of the Buffalo Bills being in Buffalo, long term, after his passing?!?! The grand gesture of leaving this team right where it belongs is PROBABLY NOT lost on Mr. Wilson at all. If it is justified as the price of doing business in the National Football League, then so be it!! The mere notion that this is a grandstanding play to simply ship the franchise off to the highest bidder (Toronto or L.A.) is a possibility, albeit a remote one in my opinion! Actually, the N.F.L. would be hard pressed to move an existing franchise with this storied a history IF a new playpen is constructed. It makes perfect sense to me, in this context! -
A great Bills come back game long forgotten
Bflojohn replied to NavyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
JR in Ann Arbor, the play will be in New England on the opening Monday Night telecast as Leodis McKelvin will pick off a Brady pass intended for Moss to turn the tide and shock the world!!! Just Saying! Bills 35 Pats 30 -
I'm a distinct fence sitter on this one! On the one hand, this is arguably Dick Jauron's best chance to succeed as the Buffalo Bills Head Coach, but track records do count for something, so hence I'm from Missouri on this issue.... SHOW ME!! All the talk and predictions are crap at this time EVERY year, so anything can and will happen, my feeling is WHY NOT? Actually, the 5-1 start last year gave me a glimmer of hope. The stinking Dolphins skyrocketed from 1-15 to 11-5 in one season. The Bills were 7-9 for three seasons, is it a huge jump to 10-6 and contention? If I'm sure about one thing here, it is that the foundation for a winner IS being laid with fairly sound drafting and adept free agent pick-ups. Is this the turn-the-corner season?? I sure hope so, I'll be glued to the satellite feed this fall, that's a given!!! All I can finally say is GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!

Just Say The Redskins Broke "Tampering" Rules
Bflojohn replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All I'll say is that the NFL has a new sheriff in town and IF they did tamper, Roger Goodell has NO worries setting president and I believe he'll slap them silly on this one. Bet on it..... -
A great Bills come back game long forgotten
Bflojohn replied to NavyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hardly forgotten in my opinion! That game was the catalyst to the Super Bowl appearances. The Broncos COMPLETELY outplayed the Bills that day and clearly looked like the odds on choice to go that year. The Bills "caught lightning in a bottle" and a classic was born. The interesting thing was that Jim Kelly and crew didn't have much say at all, it was special teams and defense. They became a bonified contender that day and the league took notice in a BIG way! In the larger scheme of things, I believe that was THE pivotal game that transformed Buffalo. Simply great stuff, thanks!!!! -
The Buccaneers cut an aging veteran who was probably pulling down a hefty amount of money. Is that the only reason? Pro Bowl OLB's in the 4-3, cover two are worth their weight in gold, however the REAL question is how much is left in his tank? The asking price and production might NOT be worth it to the Bills. It could turn out to be a Levi Jones scenario, whereby Derrick Brooks asks for way too much money. I highly doubt he'll be a Buffalo Bills LB, just a guess!!

So If The Bills 3 Biggest Holes Are LB, LT and DT
Bflojohn replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Back to football! In my view, OLB is a position where rookies CAN and DO make immediate impact around the league. It may be the second most impactful after running back. The thought that Alvin Bowen or Nic Harris can't make any impact is shortsighted, in my estimation. I tend to think that the observation of better offense will help the defense is valid. This could be immense strictly by way of less time on the field. If special teams remains just that, SPECIAL, then the Bills will at the very least be VERY, VERY competitive in 2009. Count me as one who sees real possibilities on this squad! -
The very best thing the Bills can do with Demetrius Bell is bring him along the same way they did Jason Peters! To me, the comparitives with Peters and Bell are startling! Nearly a free agent himself, Bell arguably has the same type of potential Peters showed in his transition to OLT. I liked Bell's performance last preseason, and I don't see any reason why he can't show the progress that would mirror Jason's advancement! Just a thought!!! Note: He is one of the brightest lights in the Bills future, if you ask me!!
-
What I perceive, at this juncture, is that 8 in the box is going the way of the Dodo bird against Buffalo! Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson should see more turf and less opposing players this year and that will allow for them to have time and space to create in the hole. IF Shawn Nelson comes of age early and contributes right out of the chute, this offense could be down right scary!! Multiple weapons dictate what a defense can and can NOT do, in large part, and the Bills haven't dictated to defenses since Drew Bledsoes' first season in Buffalo! I really have a good feeling about the offense, with the only limiting factor being the coaching staff NOT utilizing the whole "bag of tricks". IF Turk cuts it loose, watch out NFL!!
-
In a QB driven league, the answer lies with Trent Edwards' maturation and the need for a pass rush! Could these factors all sync in one year? Sure, Miami isn't a great team, however, they rode a QB who didn't turn the ball over (until the playoffs!) and Joey Porter to a division title. Do I think they're better than the Bills? HARDLY! Injuries aside, the Bills can make a run if the tumblers all align, so let's be somewhat optimistic about our chances! Ideally, T.O. behaves himself and plays "lights out", Maybin, even situationally, provides a pass rush boost and the O-line gels between now and the 3rd preseason game. Is it realistic? Sure, but Dick Jauron and company are really " on the hook" because arguably the front office got him the tools to succeed. Go BILLS!!!

Shawn Nelson and Glenn Dorsey are Cousins
Bflojohn replied to Yasin's BILLS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that the Bills should stage a secret "family reunion" and trade for his really big, big cousin, Glenn Dorsey! Ah, maybe wishful thinking....
