  1. Marshall Faulk was highly paid as was Emmitt Smith, and they were both on SB teams. I am not sure but i think Terrell Davis got a pretty large contract after the Broncs won their first SB then they went on to do it again. In the NFL ONE player does not make a team a SB contender, you need to have talent around a superstar to be a SB contender though. This team only gets worse if they let Willis walk. He'd probably end up on a team with an O-line better than ours (that would then include D'Youville) and his numbers would be even better, because he would rip off long runs without the penalties (usually nowhere near the play) and we would all be thinking "damn he really was good." The key to an effective offense is a stellar o-line (ie Indy) and if you put a back as talented as WM behind a good line the numbers would be friggin scary. Right now the problem is not at our skill positions its the 5 guys in front that have to block in order for our skill players to succeed.
  2. They may be 3rd in sacks because teams pass more than they would against other teams because the Chargers suck so bad at defending it. More drop backs = more oppurtunities to get sacks.
  3. real country music = texas country music...ie Kevin Fowler, Robert Earl Keen, Randy Rogers, Corey Morrow, and Reckless Kelly. I hated country till i heard them.
  4. Willis has started what??? 21 games? this thread is about a season and a half early. I hope when WMs contract is up TD is not the one still making those decisions. I wouldn't say any of those guys are elite backs anymore...except James. I would love to watch Willis behind a line like the one in Indy, Pitt, Cincy, or KC, when ALL of his long runs wouldn't be called back for holding. TC won't put willis in on 3rd downs. I remember him at the U and he was excellent out of the backfield catching passes. TC does not play him in situations that would really show his true ability and that is not WMs fault...its the fault of a terrible OC and a terrible scheme. Also Willis' line blows. Most great RBs (with the exception of Barry Sanders) can only do so much behind a POS offensive line. Every time Willis breaks a big run there is always a hold (ie final drive of the MIA game and 2 or 3 in the NO game) and those would add up to him being higher on the NFL rushing list. However, Willis is not YET the gamebreaking back that an LT, or Priest Holmes is/was. Benson and Williams? Idiot. Benson 58 carries for 237...franchise. Williams 133 carries for 516 yards...he'll carry you. Benson may be a good back but he, like another notorious UT product, has a very skittish personality, to say he's elite is absolutely one of the stupidest things i think i've read. Carnell Williams is going to prove to be a new warrick dunn only not quite as good and much more injury prone, also ridiculous to say he's elite. They have not even been the best backs to come out of last years draft, Ronnie Brown is averaging almost 5 yards a carry (4.8) and has been better than both Williams and Benson by a long shot. But I'll give you Alexander and LT and James, but once Willis actually breaks some big gamebreaking runs then he will be in the very elite category.
  5. Well now that Fat Mike has been benched for the game this sunday is it ok to call him the biggest bust this franchise has ever had? I think so. Erik Flowers was a big one too, but Mike got so much money I think he easily gets the nod as the biggest bust. Here is a look at where offensive linemen from the 02 draft are faringw with their respective clubs: First Round: Mike Williams - we all know he sucks, and isn't starting anymore Bryant McKinnie (MIN) - listed as a starter for Minnesota Levi Jones (CIN) - starting at LT for Cincy Marc Colombo (CHI) - Not listed on Depth Chart or Roster anywhere Kendall Simmons (PIT) - starting for PIT...a dominant O-line Second Round: Andre Gurode (DAL) - Back-up center for Dallas (and gets a lot of PT) Toniu Fonoti (SD) - 3rd stringer for Minny Mike Pearson (JAX) - Back-up for JAX Chester Pitts (HOU) - Starting LT for HOU (but we all know how good that OL is) Langston Walker (OAK) - 3rd string LG for OAK So in regards to money and the draft pick invested Mike Williams stands alone as the WORST O-lineman from that draft. The team could have gone in a few different directions, and in hind-sight they chose the wrong one. How much is TD et al to blame for this debacle??? I think it sets us back in a huge way in terms of building an O-line and the rest of the team just because of the huge $$$ we have tied up in this fat ass, and TD needs to be held accountable for this kind of crap. I don't want to hear about how he relies on scouting and different info, because in the end its his decision and this was one of the worst draft picks in the history of the Buffalo Bills.
  6. whatever...if that crappy competition lands us in the playoffs at 8-8 who cares...cuz anything can happen in the playoffs baby! Oh yeah and Wilbon is pretty on, but this IS the product the NFL pushes. It will be very tough for dynasties to occur anymore because free agency has leveled the playing field, so a winning team needs to catch a lot of breaks on the field. Or if an organization fields a dominant team one year (ie the Colts) its tough to maintain dominance with contract demands and free agency pulling teams apart. The Pats could be the last team to go on a run of 3 super bowls in 4 years for awhile. And this current trend towards parity has really made me appreciate how good the Bills teams in the SB years really were.
  7. If only we had been playing the Patsies...Tedy could have just walked over and touched the guy and he would have been healed and back securing the endzone. (and I am done with Tedy, at least until the next time a TV personality opens his/her mouth in order to fellate TB)
  8. They should re-enact the Theeeesman leg snap next week, with a volunteer.
  9. Bledsoe has done well, but tonight he didn't do much to help his team win. In fact, Donovan McNabb pulled a Bledsoe-esque pass out of his ass in a crucial situation which did more to help the Cowgirls than Bledsoe did. But yeah they are atop the NFC East. I did notice the girls protection has not been as good the last 2 weeks and if that trend continues look for the usual second half of the season nose-dive from Bledsoe.
  10. It seemed like Saban was on the sidelines thinking "What would Wanny do?" because that was vintage Wanny. I kept seeing the 02 Pats/Phish game where the dolfelons passed incomplete 3 times out of their own endzone instead of handing the ball, to a then dominant Wicky, with under 2 minutes to run out the clock. They then shanked a punt and the Pats won eliminating the Dolfelons from the playoffs. Man NS = overpaid/hyped DW. Hey at least its still a positive that the fish lost, and we're only 1 game out of first place, which is just close enough to keep our playoff (pipe)dreams alive for at least another week or two. Go Bills!
  11. At least last week he showed "glimpses of brilliance" which was something everyone said QBs like Peyton, Kelly, Elway et al showed in their rookie years (not comparing JP to any of those...yet). While not being great consistently they showed glimpses which gave hope for the future, and last week JP definitely showed some glimpses. 9/14 ain't bad especially when a few of those were thrown away instead of being forced into coverage like he was apt to do in college and a few times now in the League. We're still going to see some terrible decisions but that will get better as long as MM and the "brain trust" at OBD stick with him and let him develop now that a fire has been lit under his ass from his benching. Go JP!
  12. The brain trust??? I still like the nickname "Jerry's Kids" for our defense. God I hope we can pull this one out by our defense remembering HS practice and wrapping up. I think LT may hurt us more in the passing game especially if the "Brain Trust" continues its blitz happy ways. Just like last week the Bills must get a good pass rush from the front 4 so our LBs and Safeties can at least help contain LT in both the rushing and passing game. Jammer blows. He's been a tremendous disappointment to my buddies down in the SD area. But he'll probably have a terrific day against us now that I spoke up. The Bills need to control the clock by using the vertical passing game to stretch a bad passing defense, and then pound it with WM. I don't care if he rushes for a Wicky-esque 2.5 YPC as long as we find a way to move the chains the entire game. Also, like I said before the Bills need to rush the passer with their front 4 so we don't get blitz happy where LT will kill us out of the backfield and Antonio Gates will kill us over the middle abusing our safeties. Finally, we need points in the redzone. We'll lose relying on FGs, so we need TDs, either way Lindell better pull his head out. Wasn't his accuracy from 45 yards in supposedly his biggest asset? Anyways, this game will either be a lopsided game in SDs favor if we turn into a blitz machine and we don't run the ball consistently, but if we pressure Brees and committ to the run we can keep it close and hopefully pull out a win.
  13. I bet that stall has two groundbreaking plays drawn up on the inside of it.
  14. EM still hasn't put forth his best effort (or so it seems) when JP has been in there. He's dropped passes and short armed some big ones. EM is no longer ready for the primetime.
  15. Under thrown in order to keep between 2 defenders that were closing, and finally some true flashes of brilliance which is what most were concerned about.
  16. That turnstile blocking just wasn't cutting it anymore.
  17. Eric has done this to JP all year and I can't wait to see him go this off season. I wish he could just keep his yap shut and catch the ball.
  18. Can you say smoke and mirrors for a kicker?
  19. First thing that has ever come out of Key's mouth that I agree with.
  20. No its been awhile since he's got any pub. Hey Rev choke on something and die.
  21. NE their toughest test? Please...do i need to remind you of the #30? That would be the rank of Bruschi and Co. on defense.
