  1. BASEBALL Just because I have played a higher level of baseball than a lot of people lets look at that "tournament" first. Pitch counts? Are friggin serious? The pitchers in the Little League World Series have less stringent requirements. Its a much different game when you know that you only have to face a Clemens or a Peavy or Willis until the 3rd inning and then face another starter who does not come out of the bullpen, which, if you've played the game, is much much much different than starting a game. That one rule alone, to me, made the World Baseball Classic an utter joke. Many US players didn't participate because of owners, whereas the Japanese teams have always had a little chip on their shoulder and put their best out there just to win, but yet with the exception of Ichiro, the Japanese players have been absolute busts in our game. HOCKEY Not our sport. Most of our kids do not grow up with sticks in their hands like the Canadian and European teams. If more of our top athletes that chose to play sports like football basketball and baseball chose to play hockey we'd be much more competitive in the international game. SOCCER Who friggin cares? Again, if you had NFL DBs and WRs and small forwards and guards from the NBA playing soccer we would dominate the game, but America finds this game to be tedious and our kids play sports designed for real men. The speed and physical nature of hoops and football make soccer look like a joke. BASKETBALL Again, because a lot of players fear injury, they don't participate in a great deal of international competition. Our players remain loyal to their employers, whereas the Euros get paid pittance compared to our guys and love the chance to beat the US and A. To be sure, this sport has boomed outside of the US and even with our very best the gap has closed to almost nothing. Also, the teams from other countries are fielded much differently than ours and play together a lot more often. GOLF Kelly was right. Europe is not a country moron.
  2. I thought the same thing when I read that. School sucks I really need some more sleep. By the way Aussie...a maroon is also a reference to runaway slaves that made it to freedom. The phrase "What a maroon" was popularized by Bugs Bunny in reference to people acting foolish. Just thought I'd throw that out since work sucks and I'm bored.
  3. My dad is retiring from the Air Force after 27 years and I want to get him a Gilbert jersey. Someone posted a website that had some great prices on Sabres throw back jerseys and I was wondering if anyone had the link to the site still? Dave
  4. I would be money on the Bears if I could. Peyton will soon be on that list as he will be playing against a Florida QB and a safety (Alex Brown) who is also a Gator. Oh yeah and this is his first opportunity to really suck on the biggest stage. He's done it at every level so why should this year be any different? Peyton may even knock Jimbo down a notch on that list of Super Bowl ineptitude.
  5. Don Beebe. I still think that his play on Leon Lett was one of the greatest moments that I have ever seen in sports. Just watch how many athletes half ass it, whether it be running out a ground ball, playing defense etc etc. What Don Beebe did should be shown to every single kid who wants to be a professional athlete.
  6. I just heard a stat that kelly had 2 TDs and 7 INTs in his super bowl career. I had no idea he was that terrible in the Super Bowl.
  7. Wow. People here never cease to amaze me. I won't even begin to discuss that ridiculous stance.
  8. I think he was asking what ESPN was doing to help this kid now. I am a person who feels the race card is played entirely too much in our society, but this story is about as bad as it gets and something needs to be done. Georgia, and most of the South for that matter, still run about 30 years behind the rest of our nation, and its apparent it has some major issues. I would love for someone to dig up some sh-- on BJ Bernstein from his senior year (known to the rest of the world as only 5th grade but hey its Georgia) and then put his ass in jail. I actually got kind of worked up over this story and something needs to happen, but he will never get his life back to where it was going before this BS happened.
  9. Lee Evans is a game changing WR. WM can't hold his jock. If Willis is our best player on offense this team is f***ed for a long time.
  10. Yes those idiot humans that forced that animal up to shallow waters should be killed.
  11. In fact, if I were running the bears I would pay Steve Spurrier to come to Florida and just patrol the sidelines in a Gators visor.
  12. And wait till we get those combine superstars that shoot up the draft board only to be busts in the NFL.
  13. Peyton Vs. a team with a Florida QB nuff said.
  14. I think I remember hearing about how the Colts are known for pumping a great deal of artificial noise into their dome. I was at a game in Indy a bunch of years back (the Bills lost in OT) and a "fan" asked me to be quiet because she was trying to watch the game...I was 7 and cheering when the Bills came out of the tunnel. Indy fans do not deserve a championship. Go Bears. Put a winner on the field and that ceases to be a problem.
  15. The original poster was right. This weigh in just happened today.
  16. Harrison has 2 career TDs in the post season and they both came in one game.
  17. Not if the refs have anything to say about it. (Just getting on board with everyone else)
  18. DING! I just said it out loud here at work and yes that is exactly the sound!!!
  19. He is unwatchable. I remember after the Bills lost to the Titans they were trying to show highlights and all you could hear was that Mr. Ed wannabe yelling "vince young" in the background. Unfortunately i do not possess the required skills that would allow me to type out the sound the words "Vince Young" make when coming out of his loud mouth. Go to hell Shannon.
  20. It was Wayne. Harrison was too busy being a non-factor on the other side of the ball.
  21. The Pats are lucky...they are lucky to play Peyton every year.
  22. Marvin Harrison! A bigger disappearing act than Peyton Manning!
  23. He would have a street named after him already, and a cult following.
