  1. av er age: : taking the typical example of the group under consideration Johnson was 18th in yards and 38th in TDs. On the 18th ranked passing offense in terms of yards and 13th ranked passing offense in TDs. Maybe actually working on football stuff would make him above average.
  2. If being a solidly average receiver works for him then by all means keep going Steve. He's not a game changer he's an average ass possession guy with no drive to get better. Go to hell Johnson.
  3. You can talk just fine after a little experience and some people can just gut it which is ridiculous.
  4. Yup. And Leaf threw three picks and had another one called back because of a penalty. He didn't "beat" the Bills by himself. Piss poor execution on the Bills part is what turned that game into a San Diego win. Yup. And Leaf threw three picks and had another one called back because of a penalty if I remember right. He didn't "beat" the Bills by himself. Piss poor execution on the Bills part is what turned that game into a San Diego win.
  5. With regards to Sumlin, he's been a major D1 coach for only a season and I think I read he wasn't interested in the NFL this year. I think he's going to win a national title in the next couple of years and then he will be on everyone's short list. Charlie Strong was someone I wanted the Bills to go after but he also ruled out the NFL this year. Lovie would have been hired immediately but his inability to hire any competent offensive coordinators is what held him back I think. Also, his 10-6 record, while good on the surface, was a complete meltdown. They started 7-1 and then Buffaloed the rest of the season. He'd have been fired for the same thing last year but the Bears, while a large market team, have always been frugal, and that would have left them on the hook for around $10m the next two seasons. He will get another shot next year. I don't think it's institutionalized racism but I'm a complete outsider so it's simply an opinion. I think owners want to make money and most want to win. A smart businessman will hire the person that will make them the most money by turning their team into a winner and skin color shouldn't even matter. It's why I feel the Rooney Rule is insulting to black coaches.
  6. I know it doesn't matter but I'm fairly certain that was in San Diego because I was there for that game. Christie missed a chip shot to win it.
  7. Lovie's inability to hire an even competent OC is why nobody wants him and not because he's black.
  8. I'm not sure how it would work cap wise or if its possible but I heard from my buddy in Houston schaub could be out if they lose today.

  10. The biggest reason he was rated low was the perception he would be run oriented. Though he was a 3 Star recruit Oregon wanted him and the he uncommitted after a few months (I suspect due to rumors of sanctions but it was said his mom wanted him in Texas) and chose A&M. He's just another 3 Star QB Mack Brown said was too small to play in college. (See Drew Brees and RGIII). Another reason for it was playing in the small town of Kerrville, TX but he is an absolute legend throughout South Texas. Every high school coach in the area, even at the powerhouses, will tell you his scouting grade was absurd and that he's one of, if not, the best high school QB they've ever seen. I have a feeling you're wrong, but hey, Mack Brown agrees with you. The kid can flat out play the game of football and he will only get better.
  11. Not a chance. Lovie forced Chico out of Chicago. There's some bad blood there.
  12. After starting 7-1 against inferior opponents. That is Billsesque. That was 2 years ago. Lovie is a good coach and his players love his soft training camps. There is no doubt the defense would improve IMO but as good has he's been coaching defense he has been incompetent when hiring OCs. In this current NFL atmosphere defense is secondary to offense and he's never adjusted. Again, good guy, but I don't like him as the Bills HC. I'd rather look for an offensive mind with the potential of hiring a good DC rather than a defensive mind who was never been able to find a good OC. JMO.
  13. I'll have to check but I believe the Bears made 3 playoff appearances in Lovie's 9 year tenure in Chicago but it definitely isn't 9 appearances as I know they've missed the last 2 years.
  14. Yes I realize he's a blogger. I was pointing more to the statistics he presented which are all true. When you build a team with success predicated on turnovers you get what happened to the Bears this season. When the turnovers don't come you fail. The Bears season was so similar to the Bills 2008 season it's kind of scary. Flukey wins to get off to a great start only to stop getting favorable bounces which started an epic collapse. Again, if Lovie could hire a competent OC this discussion wouldn't even be happening because he'd still be in Chicago.
  15. Yes he lost Cutler last year but this year the fade was a direct result of playing good teams IMO and the charter franchise of the NFL has been bordering irrelevance for the last 6 years.
  16. The GM/HC connection is completely legit and had Lovie not had 2 additional years on his contract he'd have been out last year just as Angelo was shown the door. When that defense was young it was full of playmakers and 2 HOFers in Urlacher and Briggs and they along with Lovie and Ron Rivera was what took them to the Super Bowl. Once Lovie got that Super Bowl appearance under his belt he demanded more control and got it, and he then jettisoned Rivera. Lovie also has always had great special teams and played most games very close to the vest. To me, he is much more like Dick Jauron than anyone realizes. Also, he was dominated by playoff bound teams. Here is a link to a blog post about his tenure that speaks volumes if you ask me...http://www.dabears.c...k-at-Mediocrity Also, he could not beat Green Bay with any regularity and has lost 8 of the last 9 against them.
  17. I live in Chicago and the consensus is (and I agree 100%) that Lovie is a good guy and an excellent defensive coach, but his track record of awful choices in OC's is what did him in finally. Martz was awful and hired because he was Lovie's friend and Tice was worse. Tice had never called offensive plays in his life and Lovie handed him the keys. Lovie also had a lot of power over personnel decisions and the Bears have not drafted a good QB in forever nor could they ever build even a competent o-line. I do think if Lovie is the hire Urlacher will come with him, but he is a shell of his former self. I just can't get on the Lovie bandwagon, but with that said, I don't really know who I like. I know Kelly would bring a lot of excitement and intrigue, but who could QB that offense coming out of the college ranks or available via free agency? I just have to have faith in Brandon and the brain trust but I am skeptical after years of watching the product put on the field for 20 years.
  18. This just isn't supported by Lovie's track record. He has failed 3 or 4 times with regards to hiring a capable OC and his offenses were never better than 19th. I like Lovie, but I don't think he fits what the Bills need especially if they actually upgrade the QB position with a young guy.
  19. This is why I'm not high on Lovie. He's never ever hired a good OC and the Bears offense was in the bottom third every year he was there save for one when they were 19th. His in ability to hire competent OCs was his undoing in Chicago.
  20. His dad was diagnosed with cancer so I'm guessing an NFL salary is mighty tempting as he comes from pretty humble beginnings.
  21. Murray makes every NFL throw there is to make. He said he would stay at Georgia for all 4 years so we'll see.
