  1. What's the best ability again? Availability.

I don't think Gresham - cap space is > than Chandler + cap space. Unless we're getting Gronk or Graham, there is no right price.

Are people talking about cutting Chandler and bringing in another TE?

No lets add a TE to the mix.

    BUT

I want Grey to get his shot to hang with this team.......just something about this kid......I think he has it

  2. I'm not sure if the stats would bear this out, or not, but it seems to me that in the last couple/few seasons, Chandler's hands have become more reliable, with far fewer dropped passes. And, being 6'7" certainly gives him a height advantage. But, I do feel that he plays like he's afraid of getting hurt. I can't remember ever seeing his feet leave the ground when making a catch.

I like Chandler the pass catcher

But that guy gets thrown around in blocking like a small wide receiver.......we need better then that.

  3. You guys do realize that the answer might be.......you play EJ Manuel

I know a lot of people are not going to like that answer.

    Two things in my opinion

    - EJ Manuel should not have started as soon as he did.......they should have done a MUCH better job finding a veteran QB to placehold this team because EJ was NOT ready....they should have eased him in.

    - EJ got some of that last year when Orton took over the team

    - If EJ does not show considerable improvement in the offseason they should continue this.....bring in a Hoyer/Moore/other veteran type and keep EJ holding the clipboard....make him EARN the spot.

And then if he doesnt.....you have the 1st round pick back the following year.

  4. First, work on your reading comprehension. A lot. Then tell me how a full evaluation of Watkins can be done without a quality QB in place. I said he's still unproven due in large part to that. In my book he doesn't get credit for what he maybe possibly could have done with a quality QB until he actually does it. Sorry, I don't play pretend. He certainly might have it in him, but he hasn't proven it to me. Not yet. I'm not going to project and pretend he's done more than he has just because he's a Bill. If he was a Dolphin or a Jet I doubt he'd be getting pimped like he is around here (for the most part). I like his skill set and his big games, but nine games of 35 yards or less is a concern. Period. Maybe a lot of that was a combination of injury and QB play, but simply assuming it was is absurd. That's a long, thin limb.

Your right. When I went back and re read your post I came away with a completely different take.

    Ill admit it.

  5.

It wasn't routine contact by any stretch. Shazir took a flying knee to Sammy's ribs, after the whistle, in what many believed to be a cheap shot. It was not routine contact.

Also......if you dont think that this is a tough physical receiver....go back to his college tape and watch him trucking defenders.

  6. With the scheme they are likely to implement and glaring questions with consistent QB play, I would take under on that so yes that would be acceptable. If I could take that as a best case scenerio I would put it in the bank.

Rex Ryan and Sammy Watkins goes way way back......

I predict that Sammy is gonna get that ball in multiple ways.......we did not run ONE bubble screen for Sammy when that is what he excelled at in College. Would not suprise me to see him used in a Percy Harvin type way to get the ball to him.

Roman might run a power running scheme but he is no fool.....you dont get to playoffs/championship games by not being smart enough to not know how to use a Sammy Watkins.

I picture numbers equal to or even exceeding Boldin.

  7. My point is there is a possibility Watkins isn't going to be utilized as much as people think just like the complaints this year with Marrone and Hackett.

    Time will tell......

Would Bolden numbers be acceptable to you? Or is that not Sammy Worthy

  8. A max ceiling of 1200, 85 receptions, 10 TD's at the WR position with a scheme that has a lot better talent than the Bills on offense. The body of work shows Crabtree was an afterthought for the most part.

    Well.....I believe in balanced offense.

Do you want to see WR's with great stats or do you want to win?

  9. Crabtree and Boldin?

Im looking more at Boldin.....whos numbers of catches and yards picked up significantly with the niners after he left baltimore.

    https://www.google.com/search?q=who+are+the+wide+receivers+on+the+niners&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8#q=anquan+boldin+career+stats&expnd=1

    Crabtree is so so

Sammy Watkins has the potential to be much better then both of these wide receivers

  10. When they were contending for championships they were utulizing a diverse power running game and explosive tight end in the passing game. It wasn't about the WR's.

That is way too simple......Roman is a offensive genious....he uses the talent he has.

And there have been good WR's on those niners teams that went to championships.

  11. Is there anything sadder than the "which QB will the Bills sign or trade for" QB debate? After we know who the guy is, will there ever be a more "who cares" reaction to something that was so endlessly debated? I'm not getting on this thread, just realizing that when we all finally know who this QB will be, it will register practically nothing in regards to fan confidence about the 2015 QB situation.

If I were the Bills, I think I'd trade for either Foles or Glennon and give EJ Manuel a contemporary of his, who has more TDs, and who is widely viewed as a better QB than him. Then see what kind of fighter he is. EJ has a higher ceiling and a lower floor than those two QBs, time to finally see which way that stairway goes. Forced to choose I'd say they go and get Foles after Philly pulls off a trade up in the draft to pick Mariota. Say goodbye to that #50 pick for Foles.

I would also like to see EJ fight for the job like he wants it.......

EJ you said "if I get another opportunity im gonna sling it more"

    Lets see it

If we trade for Foles then so be it.....fill the other needs in free agency.

We need to improve this QB position because there are legit offensive weapons on this team RIGHT NOW

  12. This doesn't tell me anything. You realize SF struggled with the passing game this year with reference to that quote.

You do realize that it was one year.....and in the previous years they were contending for championships.....

WHY DO YOU THINK WE BROUGHT ROMAN IN

And its not telling you anything because you dont want to hear it

  13. I disagree with this. You cannot look at it in a vacuum.

In my opinion, it is more than fair to look at the other players taken and speculate if our scouts should have been able to tell that the aggressive move up for Sammy was not necessary because similar talent was available without giving up so much. We could certainly use that extra #1 pick this year to find a OG, TE, RB or even QB. Yes, Sammy is probably going to be good, but OBJ and qa stud at another position of need would be better.

    Madd.....who would you have taken

And how would that player have made this team better given what we know about those offensive coaches

of course EVERYONE would like to keep their 1st round picks....I am not disputing that and yes 19th could have helped us find a player at all the positions you listed (Except for QB) what you are banking on is that Sammy Watkins was one of those "cant miss" players that people were talking about.....a true blue chip talent.

We just dont know yet........we certainly dont know enough yet to be slamming Whaley for it.

How can you say with certainty that Rex will fix the offense and Watkins will get more attempts/touches. Sure it's possible and he knows Watkins is a good player but who is going to be throwing him the ball? What about scheme? In fact Rex's ground and pound, "bully" philosphy which he said is definitely implementing is at odds with making a WR like Watkins a focal point of the offense. WR wasn't the main focal point in Romans scheme either.

Rex is a great coach but he is no offensive guru. Talk to the people in NY/NJ.

Go back and listen to Romans press conference

Specifically in the area where he talks about "we could have led the league in rushing every year if we wanted to......I wanted to win games"

  14. Ultimately the best thing that could happen for this team is that the time that EJ Manuel held the clipboard combined with a OC that can run a legit NFL offense that masks QB weaknesses and shows off their strengths makes it so EJ beats out ANY competition that is brought into camp.....and does what we all hoped for but coudnt do in his second year.

    but

We cannot do what the previous coaches did and not have a viable alternative.

I want a QB with the guts that Orton had (early on) to put the ball on receivers downfield but also has mobility to escape pressure a little bit.

At this point I am going to say Hoyer or Matt Moore.......and hope that EJ shows progression in his 3rd year and overtakes them at some point in the season.....not because Hoyer or Moore sucked.....but because EJ was just too good to keep on the bench
