Who is going to pass block? Not one other back on the roster can do it.
Actually....McCoy is pretty good at pass pro
-
I believed matter when he threw that out there......because its just not gonna be popular
-
Guys......
We just signed a top 3 back in the league.......this is not going to be Fred's team anymore......and this is coming from someone who will always be in the Fred Jackson fan club.
This day is coming.....they might like Bryce Bown as the backup much more then we do......and Shady is going to get the bulk of the carries.
Fred carries a sizable cap hit
-
I would hate it.....but at the same time I would understand it
-
It is pretty obvious that Leroi has sources.....
I think that people's love for Freddie (and am in in that club) are causing feelings to be worn on their sleeve
It is absolutely possible that the bills feel Fred is long in the tooth
-
As I always say......if you dont like the way they are doing it then plz provide how YOU would do it.......
Im not here to piss all over it......but finding reasons to complain just to complain is a non starter for me
-
You've been around here long enough to know there's a salary cap that makes this relevant even if the guy writing the checks has the deepest pockets imaginable.
And they are working the salary cap.....they just made a deal today in McCoy to work it.
Its not our money....let them work
-
Whatever the figure ends up being folks....plz keep in mind that it is not your money!
This is what made Pegula buying the team special....he is willing to pay to win
-
Fred is gone regardless who they bring in.
We are not taking a 2.7 mill cap hit to see if there is anything left.
We noticed a huge decline last year and that will continue.
He should avoid the perception of disrespect and just retire.
Imo
I had a feeling that this might be the case.......this is shady's team now. Love u though Fred
Not sure about your "connections" to OBD, but respectfully, but I'm really starting to question your football knowledge based on your recent posts.
Before his groin injury, Fred was averaging 4.3 ypc -- just a scooch below his 4.4 career average. He also had 33 catches at a 7.9 ypc (vs an 8.2 career average). Coming back from the injury too soon (after missing only two games) was the problem, IMO, as he never had the same burst.
Freddie's no doubt on the downside of a great career. But to say he should retire is just plain dumb,,,
Yes because it is not like Leroi has not been shotcalling things before they happen
Come on Lurker

Everybody noticin my Bills gym bag while I was liftin to day.......
-
With the fish signing Suh....lets poison pill TE Clay to us.....
He fits Romans offense really well
-
Just to throw this out there (and for some reason the sports beat writers cannot seem to understand this)
This is BUFFALO.....15 years and counting no playoffs Buffalo Bills
I think these guys are just too comfortable with the bills not making the playoffs every year so they crap all over the bills doing something different (you know......like trading for a top 3 NFL back......backing up the brinks truck to make sure he is happy and doesnt hold out.......trading 1st round picks for WR with huge potential......stuff like that
I am not saying they root against us.....its just a shellshock for them that the bills might actually become relevent.
-
We freed up $4.75M this year but lost a TON of flexibility. We're taking a cap increase of about $1.5M over the next 2 years, then eating another $5.2M the last 2 years even if he is gone. He's here for 3 years no matter what, possibly 4, no way in hell 5. We gave up way too much for a player still under contract with virtually no guaranteed money left.
In case you have not noticed it......we are biulding a team to win now and not later.
-
Freddy can want all he wants.... 3 years puts him at 37 at retirement essentially. Not happening.
Agreed on this
I dont think there are many here that DONT love Fred Jackson what he has done for this team and even what he can do for this team in a backup role to Shady this year........
Fred...this really is all for your benefit...you DESERVE to play in the playoffs for all of your contributions to this team.......but lets face it......hurt EVERY year.....your long in the tooth......
Would love to see a front office position offered to Fred when this is all said and done
I think you just don't understand the cap convo - no offense meant
I will be the first one to admit that I dont understand it.....but it sure sounds good the way its being explained here
-
As a player (and his agent) I wonder if a Clay looks at what the bills just did with Shady and think "Them boys up in Buffalo are serious about biulding a winner"
"Lets get there....those bills colors are lookin better every day"
-
Somewhere out there......
Terry Pegula has his shovel and is digging another oil well on one of his properties.......Kim sits in the shade drinking a tall glass of lemonade and pooring a nice glass of "shut the @uck up for Jason Lancantoria"
"Were rich Jason.....we can do whatever we want....WHATEVER WE WANT!"
-
close only counts in hand grenades and horseshoes, everything else is or isn't a rumor
Way to piss in the punchbowl......

Hold on. I thought the reason we could so readily unload kiko was because Harris was all but signed. You mean some posters were wrong about that? Oops
No we were ready to unload Kiko because
- They had a chance to get a top 3 NFL running back
- The D was top 5 without him last year
- He has had two ACL injuries on the same knee
-
Hairston's injuries pretty much ruined his career
at one point he had potential
oh well...onward and upward
-
Blockbuster version:
Darrelle Revis
Brian Bulaga
Jordan Cameron
Justin Blalock
Kenrick Ellis
The economical version:
Justin Blalock
Doug Free
Jake Locker
Jermaine Gresham
Kenrick Ellis
I think your economical version is probably more accurate....and it is still not bad.

If I were the Bills, I'd tell Mario we will lose Hughes because we cannot justify paying so much money on the DL. Ask him to take a bit of of pay cut so we can retain Hughes and keep the DL together.
I think this has a lot less to do with players restructuring/taking pay cuts and more to do with Marcel Darius
Marcel must be kept at all costs.....and he is going to get a VERY big contract.
-
I want Hughes
but
If Hughes cannot be signed we should look at Orakpo......he is a beast.
And he WILL be cheaper because of his injuries.

Assuming 4-3, DE, WLB, SS
Assuming 3-4, OLB, MLB, SS
You are assuming that safety is a weakness? It was not last year when they were interchanging Duke Williams and Graham into the safety spots
I agree, from my view the Bills have MILDLY upgraded the offensive talent and seriously downgraded the talent of the other side of the ball while spending signifcantly more cap money leaving little to spend on a QB should someone unexpctedly become available (Cutler, RG3). I really dislike the Casell trade.
If you consider McCoy a mild upgrade I really dont know what to tell you.
He is one of the very best backs in the league
-
As of right now, we have three starting spots available on defense... So yeah I'm getting a little concerned. Hopefully we continue to be aggressive in building talent. Our offense probably won't be good enough to get it done with a middle of the road defense.
What are the 3 starting spots?
Fred Jackson cut??(UPDATE: Pegula says Hell To The No)

His run against the bears WAS awesome
and unfortunately he cant stay away from the injury bug anymore.....
That is not a knock on Fred....just facts
