Link Of the 50 companies contacted by the NAACP, five ignored the survey, including four retailers: Dillard's Inc.; Kohl's Corp.; Sears, Roebuck and Co.; and Target Corp. All were given Fs for not answering. The other company that failed to answer was Excel, a telecommunications company; it also received an F. Gordon called on blacks to stop shopping at Target, in particular, until they answer the NAACP's questions _ though he stopped short of calling the action a boycott. Bruce S. Gordon, president and chief executive officer of the NAACP, speaks during the 97th Annual Convention of the NAACP, Sunday, July 16, 2006, in Washington. "They didn't even care to respond to our survey," he said. "Stay out of their stores." The NAACP focused on Target because they're one of the nation's most prominent national retailers, said John C. White, NAACP spokesman. However, the group does not plan to picket or leaflet Target, but will rely on word of mouth, he said. A Target spokeswoman said via e-mail that the company opted out of the survey "because Target views diversity as being inclusive of all people from all different backgrounds, not just one group." The NAACP survey asks only about blacks. She added that minorities make up 40 percent of Target employees and 23 percent of all officials and managers. During his keynote address, Gordon said black Americans should end their "victim-like thinking" and seize opportunities to help close gaps between the nation's rich and poor. "We may not have all the power that we want, but we have all the power that we need," Gordon said. "All we have to do is believe it and use it."

Israel ready to Re-Enter Gaza Strip

There are always options. I would hope that a regional war, that would most likely go global, is a last resort. With that being said, I don't think Israel will let Iran become a nuclear threat. Something about Iran's comments about wanting Israel wiped off the map or something. -

And where would the F-15/F-16s be refueling at, over Iraq? It certainly would make the US look guilty of supporting the attack. I doubt if Iran would let their nuclear sites be bombed without retaliation. What happens if Iran engages Israel planes over Iraqi airspace, or if they decide to shoot off some ballistic missiles in the region. I can only see bad things happening if Israel should carry out such an attack. -

Another 30 seconds and Tito would have done some serious damage to Shamrock. I don't think he was knocked out, but he wasn't putting up much of a defense either. I'm sure we'll see them both in UFC 63. Shamrock will want a rematch and Tito won't pass up a chance to humiliate him again. I thought the Silvia and Arlovski fight was going to end fast. It ended up being a disappointing 5 rounds of sparing. The boos rang out at the sports bar I was at. Oh well, at least our waitress was hot.

http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/mld/myrtl...al/14975364.htm Sex-crime bill toughens laws Critics point out loopholes with lower consent age The Associated Press SPARTANBURG - South Carolina's new, tougher sex offender law lowers the age of consent for sexual relationships to 14 from 16 and can give adults having sex with children that age a break if they're prosecuted. The most-talked about part of a new law that requires lifetime electronic monitoring for sex offenders has been a provision making repeat child rapists eligible for the death penalty when their victims are younger than 11. Both pleased victim advocates. But they're miffed about the so-called "mistake of age" defense adults would have when being prosecuted for having sex with children as young as 14 and lowering the age of consent. The change allows adults accused of having sex with a child younger than 16 to tell juries they believed the child was of consenting age. Critics note the legislation was changed to include the underage sex defense with no public debate. Seventh Circuit prosecutor Seventh Circuit prosecutor Trey Gowdy said that kind of addition should have had a public hearing. "There was never a single hearing on the mistake of age defense," he said. "If it goes through the process and that's what the people want, OK. But there wasn't any debate." Rep. Murrell Smith, a Republican lawyer from Sumter and chairman of the subcommittee handling the bill, proposed the amendment. He wasn't sure when it was added but said many people worked on it. "There was a flurry of bills going back and forth, and it became a nightmare to try to contain the different suggestions going into it," Smith said. Lowering the age of consent creates problems, too, Gowdy said. The so-called "Romeo clause" means people 18 or younger can have consensual sex with someone as young as 14. "For parents struggling to send the right message to their kids in a sex-obsessed world, the state of South Carolina now says it's all right for a 14-year-old to have sex," Gowdy said. Marlene Evans, victim services director of the Safe Homes Rape Crisis Coalition in Spartanburg, doesn't like that change, either. "The question is: Is a 14-year-old able to weigh the consequences and make that kind of decision?" Evans said. That issue was discussed. For instance, Bill Byars, director of the state Juvenile Justice Department, testified that he didn't want lifetime electronic monitoring required for someone younger than 17 who is sexually experimenting with someone and may not know much about sexuality. Smith says "there's going to have to be lots of cleanup" of the new law. "This is a good lesson about trying to deal with expansive issues in a short amount of time."

Illegals are starting to migrate further and further north. I'll give that point to you. However, PA doesn't have nearly as many illegals as SoCal does. I wonder how the unions in Detroit are handling this. This has to be a huge threat to them.

http://www.wftv.com/entertainment/9360388/...sp=irresistible Survey: Men Pick Condoleezza Over Julia Roberts For Dinner Date Esquire Says Secretary Of State Also Tops Aniston, Simpson POSTED: 7:51 am EDT June 13, 2006 NEW YORK -- A national survey by Esquire magazine finds men more likely to invite Condoleezza Rice to a dinner party than Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson. The secretary of state was followed by Oprah Winfrey and Angelina Jolie in the survey, which is published in the magazine's July issue. The 29-question survey polled nearly 1,100 randomly selected men aged 25 and older. The choices came from a list of 14 notable women. Asked which famous man they'd invite to dinner, 37 percent picked "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno. Former President Bill Clinton placed second, trailed by George Clooney and President George W. Bush. Asked who they most admired, the respondents chose former Secretary of State Colin Powell, Clinton and Bill Gates, with Bush fourth. But the president also placed first among least admirable men in America.
