  1. Bills on the clock based on the screen in the auditorium!
  2. Heh, Seattle would have been a match made in heaven.
  3. ESPN has been reading TBD it seems... http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/15421505/ryan-fitzpatrick-sit-new-york-jets-budge
  4. This is going to be heard en banc by the second circuit... no way NE* appeals this to SCOTUS. We are not out of the woods yet.
  5. Outside of live sporting events, I stopped watching ESPN about 15 years ago. I'm not sorry that I did.
  6. I tend to agree with those who say this is going to play out at the end of the current lease in 2022. Look, take away all of the frivolous amenities that the newer stadiums have, like the restaurants, luxury suites, etc. Even not considering those items, RWS is behind the times. Bleachers with backs went out of favor 40 years ago. Several of the club seats have broken heaters and can't be repaired. The flow of people coming into the stadium is slow due to its dated layout. Per capita restroom capacity is insufficient. Those are the reasons the team wants an improvement to their facility situation. Jerry Jones will not decide on the timetable to build a new stadium. I think the Pegulas are well aware of the angst PSLs cause the fan base and the questionable demand for the luxury suites in the Buffalo market. I think one possible outcome is a retrofit of the existing facility and a significant price increase to tickets in order to pay for it. This will price out the drunk college students, who the Bills lose money on anyway, and still keep it affordable enough for current season ticket holders to keep their seats. However, I also think they want a downtown stadium to feed into their other partnerships at Harborcenter. Such a project would take a significant amount of cash in terms of buying up land, and building infrastructure to support the facility. It would be hundreds of millions more expensive than a retrofit, require PSLs, significant public money, a large hike in ticket prices, and require corporate support to buy premium seating. It will be interesting to watch the process unfold.
  7. Not a fan of this rule change at all for a couple reasons: - As you mention, this is going to encourage kickers to aim kickoffs somewhere between the 5 and 1 yard lines. On a majority of kickoffs, it seems like the return man is stopped either at the 20, or short of the 20. So, if you are the kicking team, why would you aim for a touchback and give your opponent 25% of the field for free? For that matter, why not try to pop a kick with lots of hangtime somewhere around the 15, forcing a fair catch? This rule change just feels all sorts of stupid. - Why the inconsistency between the 20/25 yd lines with respect to kickoffs and punts? I don't see how punt returns are any less dangerous than kickoffs, if player safety is the true intent behind the change. This feels like a Roger Goodell, "change for the sake of change" idea.
  8. Restart the clock on ready-for-play on incomplete passes unless it's the last 2 minutes of the first half, or last five minutes of the second half/OT. This is the same rule they already have for OOB clock stoppages.
  9. Don't make fun of the gerbil's speech impediment.
  10. Try to hit Hanapepe on a Friday night... that is when they do the "art walk". It is more of a marketplace with a bunch of different local vendors serving food and gifts, it's not much of an art walk. The taco truck at Salt Pond in the parking lot is pretty good, too. The farmers market at Kauai Community College in Lihue on Saturday morning is also worth going to, if only to try out the sugar loaf pineapples, which are white instead of yellow.
  11. I have been to Kauai a number of times and it is my favorite place on Earth. Bar none, no question about it. I strongly prefer the South/West sides, so some of this will be influenced by that. I find Princeville to be too isolated, and much too far away from Kauai's crown jewel, the canyon and all the hiking it offers. There is an endless set of things to do, but here are some of my favorites: - Waimea Canyon. The Kalalau lookout onto the Na Pali is at the end of state route 550 and is one of the most beautiful places in the world - many hikes leave from this spot. The hike to Waipoo Falls is also great. Do yourself a favor though - check the weather forecast and do this on a clear day. You will see nothing but clouds at the end of the highway otherwise. - Definitely do a cruise to the Na Pali coast. Most leave from Port Allen, we favor Captain Andy's. Be sure to take dramamine, even if you don't think you'll get seasick. - Salt Pond Beach Park. This beach is significantly less crowded than Poipu, but honestly, we like it a lot better from both a snorkeling and swimming perspective. It's practically deserted during the week, it is more of a locals destination. - Strolling the main street in Hanapepe. This is "old Hawaii". There is a seamstress with a shop there named Jacqueline that will tailor you custom Aloha shirts for under $70. The best souvenir I've ever gotten in Hawaii. - Koloa Rum tasting at the Kilohana Plantation. I especially enjoy their dark rum. Places to eat: - Merriman's Fish House - Beach House in Poipu. Awesome food, great wait staff. We actually saw our Merriman's waiter dining here with his girlfriend later in our trip. - Kalaheo Cafe. Excellent lunch stop. - Red Salt at Koa Kea. We stayed once at Koa Kea - wasn't our cup of tea, but the restaurant here is great. A tad expensive, though. - Keoki's Paradise. This is a rebrand of the Duke's chain. If you are looking for something cheaper for dinner, but still good, it's a nice option. - Mark's Place for plate lunches in Lihue. It's in a strange business park location, a bit hard to find, but very good food. And, since you've never been to Hawaii - do yourself a favor and eat as much fish as you can. Mahi, ono, monchong, opah, and of course seared ahi. If it is a restaurant worth eating at, roadside or otherwise, the fish will be fresh in Hawaii. Pork is fine, but goodness, don't go out for steak, pizza, or anything like that, unless you need a break from the fish.
  12. He's back! You have a lot of explaining to do. What have you done to Crayonz, Carl, and the Googlebot?
  13. If the room rates are equal, I'd choose Embassy Suites. I wouldn't pay too much more for their included breakfast... it is a hassle having to deal with the crowds and the food quality is rarely very good (although it's better than the Hampton breakfast). If, say, the Courtyard was $10 less per night, I'd go that route. Otherwise, I'd choose the ES.
  14. Agreed, I thought it was a snoozefest as well. Then again, I had no rooting interest (positive or negative) in this game. With NE* and Seattle participating in the last few games, I always had a team to root against (although it sucked that last year, both teams couldn't lose). Honestly I'm tired of seeing the same damn teams from the AFC make it each and every year. It's always either NE*, DEN, PIT, IND, or BAL.

  16. I worked for three months in Hartford as a development intern with an insurance company about 12 years ago. Worst experience ever. The cost of living was outrageous. There was this snobbery that radiated from the place that I couldn't quite put my finger on until I left; a hybrid of the worst personality traits from Boston and NYC. I also felt like there was very little to do unless you had money, or wanted to make the trek to NYC or Boston. My assigned mentor wouldn't give me the time of day. The company had just gone through a merger and my first meeting on the first day was about layoffs. Needless to say, I didn't return, and I haven't looked back. To contrast, I interned in Cleveland the next summer. Not exactly known as a popular place to live. However, there was tons to do (Rock and Roll hall of fame, pro football hall of fame, Indians games, Cedar Point, etc), the people were great, job was fun, and everything was dirt cheap. I loved the experience.
  17. And as fans of a team that was constantly involved in relocation rumors to LA and Toronto for years... it just makes me sick. What if this was Bon Jovi and the Bills? The (slight) thing that makes me feel better is that St. Louis "stole" them from LA in 1994. Granted, they came from Cleveland... but that was a LONG time ago.
  18. Not a fan of Terry voting in favor of relocation. Gotta think that Ralph, had he still been around, would have voted against it.
  19. The jet is currently in Buffalo... http://flightaware.com/live/flight/XSR960
  20. Russ sent Ralph's old Taurus to the airport to pick him up. George Seifert was also part of the gang. They stopped at Applebees on the way to the stadium for a 2 for $20 deal.
  21. I'd really like to know who other than Rex thought this was a good idea. Terry? Kim? Whaley? Russ? Someone else had to sign off on this! Because honestly I see zero upside with this and only tension between the rest of the defensive coaching staff and the two Ryans. Please prove me wrong, Rex.
  22. ... and we all thought nepotism vanished once Ralph passed and Littman was gone. Guess not!
  23. Nantz has lost a step. I don't know if it's us getting stuck with Dedes and Wilcots all season and just not watching Nantz or what, but dear lord, he sounds like he's a senior citizen that can barely keep track of the game anymore. Put Nantz out to pasture on The Masters, pair Ian Eagle with the #1 color guy, and just get rid of Simms. Peyton's probably looking for a job after this season...
