I don't see any incontrovertible video evidence that his hand wasn't underneath the ball while it moved. More likely that it hit the ground? Sure, but that's not the standard to overturn a call. There is no conclusive angle that shows for sure that it hit the ground and not some part of his hand. Shocking that the resident Pats fan shows up and rubs salt in the wound. Just shocking.

So Buffalo controls its own destiny now? If they go 10-6 they make it?

This **** only happens to NE*.

Exactly my thoughts. I almost wish they win this week to avoid being the punching bag for them.

I bet this is a play to increase club ticket sales in anticipation of capturing more sales for the new stadium project. When I go to the games, I always pick up tickets in one of the sideline clubs. The seats themselves have excellent sight lines and the club amenities are nice without removing you from the stadium atmosphere. The restrooms are cleaner, the annoying drunks are quickly taken care of, you can watch Sunday Ticket after the game while waiting for traffic to clear... it's money well spent if you're planning to go to the game.

The WNY county governments suck. Niagara County charges for access. Erie has almost nothing available through their website. As much as I rail about King County and Seattle's annoying leftism, the property/document search provided by the recorder's office is excellent.

Marshall Faulk, 2 others suspended from NFL Network.

It would seem incredibly easy to fabricate a complaint against someone you seek revenge against. I'm not saying these accusations aren't credible, but the prevailing feeling here is that these guys are guilty until proven innocent. Given the sheer volume of complaints recently, I have to believe less than 100% of them are credible. -
LA is a disgrace of a market
sullim4 replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The NFL would have been better off with an expansion team in LA. Ever since the Cleveland debacle I think it's become unpalatable for sports fans to root for teams that have moved in an attempt to 'punish' the owner who moved the team. I mean, if you had lived in LA and were an NFL fan, why would you all of a sudden root for some recycled team that used to be in San Diego or St. Louis? It doesn't make sense. Expansion teams are the only legitimate situation where you can turn your fan card in and root for a different team. Living in Seattle, it appears that I'll get the chance to do that with the NHL in a few years. The Sabres haven't done a whole lot to keep me as a fan... -
In these kinds of situations, I just ask myself, "What would Bill Belichick do?" He'd have gone for it. Obviously.

Nah, this will go to overtime and end 0-0...

This is why: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200711180buf.htm Up 35-7 in the third quarter, on fourth and goal, Patriots go for it and score a touchdown. Up 42-10 in the third quarter, on fourth and 1 from the BUF 10, Brady throws for a first down rather than going for a field goal. Did the Bills defense suck? It sure did. But you want to know why opposing fans have a high dislike of New England*. This is why. I could point to numerous examples in the past but this is the game I am most intimately familiar with and it just eliminated any shred of respect I had for that team.

I sat through the 2007 game where the Bills were pummeled 56-10. They certainly ran up the score in that game - going for it on fourth down on the cusp of field goal range, keeping Brady in that game through the third quarter, etc. They do this all the time. Arrogance? Look at Brady's instragram feed from after the game. That most recent picture he has up there is a textbook example of why other fans don't like the guy.

I think likeability has a lot to do with it. The Steelers in the '70s and the 49ers in the '80s were two dynasties that I have zero problem with. The two I really don't like are the '90s Cowboys with Jerry Jones/Jimmy Johnson and '00 with Kraft/BB/Brady. Each of those two teams gave you plenty of reason to dislike them besides their on-field success - cheating, arrogance, running up the score, etc.

Agreed. For the first time this season, I'm reasonably happy with the play calling. This half was another textbook example of why the QB position needs to be upgraded.

What was the most frustrating loss to Pats in last decade?
sullim4 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This was the game where Terrence McGee returned a kickoff for a touchdown, and some woman in the crowd won a car, no? The SNF debacle is the worst for me. I flew out from Seattle to watch that game, and I stayed for the entire thing. I then fly down a week ago to watch the Chargers and see that pile of crap. -
The sad, pessimistic "fans" on this site!
sullim4 replied to Punt75's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
People react differently to the shock of 17 years without the playoffs. This is particularly true during kool-aid type seasons where the team looks unbeatable and then the bottom just falls out. Let people react how they react. Given how frustrating it is to root for this team, I no longer judge anyone based on their reactions to the team's performance. At this point, just about any emotion can be justified. -
Well, I can guarantee 19 of 19 people will pick NE* and Brady to win... so if being the underdog improves their performance next week, all the better.

Why Taylor can't be the QB longterm---perfect example today
sullim4 replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This. TT is better than Peterman but this team will not win more than 8 or 9 games playing like this. After this season, it is time to move on rather than prolong this. -
I feel so "meh" after this game. BBFS has set back in. The defense looked better, but KC's offense looked like Dennison was running it. Taylor was his average self. Oddly, had they defeated the Chargers and lost to Kansas City, I don't think I'd feel as down about the team as I do now.

Gameday thread - Bills and Chiefs 2nd half
sullim4 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Peterman throwing 5 picks doesn't improve Taylor's performance as a quarterback. It's like having the ugly kid stand next to you so you look better. This is a position of need for next year. -
Gameday thread - Bills and Chiefs 2nd half
sullim4 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is pretty much why Taylor was benched. Not saying the rest of the offense isn't at fault but we're almost done with the third quarter and we have a bunch of field goals and a touchdown. No major mistakes but nothing outstanding, either. This is exactly what to expect with him. He will score anywhere between 10 and 25 points per game and can manage a lead. He can't lead a comeback and he can't match a high scoring team. -
There's definitely a losing culture surrounding both teams. When the media keeps asking you if your team is somehow going to screw it up, just like every year, I'm sure it doesn't help their mental state. That said, the organization is ultimately accountable. I think the Pegulas are trying their best to win - unlike Ralph the issue isn't money or lack of attention. I think they've just made two very poor choices in Rex and McDermott.

Chargers felt disrespected by Peterman starting.
sullim4 replied to JM2009's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only way I could understand how the Chargers would feel like they were disrespected out of this would be the following situation: McD: "Hey guys, the Chargers really suck. Taylor's our best quarterback, but instead of going with him, let's start a rookie scrub and beat them just to stick it to them. I mean, this is a meaningless game, right? We need to follow the process! Never mind that the Bills haven't won in San Diego since 1981. I won the job over Anthony Lynn so I must be better!" Beane: "Yeah. The NFL isn't high on Dean Spanos right now, either. If we can embarrass the franchise, Goodell will approve. Let's start Peterman." Athletes aren't exactly the sharpest tools in the shed in the first place. Listening to their postgame press conferences looking for insights isn't generally a useful practice. Just look at what McD has done to the postgame pressers of our players...
