  1. Apparently ESPN modified this article because Wendys was upset? https://deadspin.com/source-espn-com-altered-a-headline-and-buried-stories-1823014722
  2. This makes no sense to me at all. Why would FOX pay for the draft if they: (a) Aren't bothering to send a production crew and are just simulcasting the NFL Network, (b) Don't want to air all three days, and (c) Have to compete for eyeballs with ESPN's broadcast in addition to the NFL Network's I understand it's built into the Thursday Night package price, but this still doesn't make any sense. The only thing FOX gets is a broadcast exclusive out of the deal. If you are the type of person who watches any significant amount of the draft, it's highly unlikely you're a cord cutter and highly likely you at least have ESPN if not the NFL Network.
  3. Just got back from the Big Island on Monday, nine day trip. Nice to escape the rain here in the Pacific Northwest. Probably planning a European trip sometime for the fall. Otherwise we just have a trip or two in the area, maybe to the Willamette Valley for wine.
  4. I always associate that with Tom Coughlin. That guy never looked happy on the sidelines regardless of what just happened.
  5. The reason I dislike Collinsworth is that he drags out the same one-liners again and again rather than analyzing the play and describing exactly what went right/wrong. Telling me that Tom Brady is a great player 20 different ways doesn't add to the game. Tell me why play X was called against Y defense - what did they see in the game film? Call out the coach on challenges and time management. I feel like the color commentator's role has evolved to the point where it just hypes the league's personalities. What do people like Collinsworth, Solomon Wilcots, Dan Fouts, and Trent Green really add to the game? All they do is tell us "that was a great play", "Fitz went to Harvard", etc. This is why Romo was greeted with such praise - he actually studied the tape and used his professional experience to break down the game. He's the only one doing his job at this point.
  6. I agree with the later, but not necessarily with the former. It's hard to tell with young guys, particularly quarterbacks, if they can perform in high pressure games. Oftentimes they crumble when games begin to matter. On paper though, yes, Wentz is significantly more talented than Foles.
  7. He's been around announcing for far too long... his days go back to the old AFC/NBC days. Once you are out of football that long, and get complacent with your announcing abilities, you become insufferable. Gruden was similar - people loved him until they grew tired of him and Gruden stopped preparing as thoroughly for each game. It'll likely happen to Romo as well at some point.
  8. If we are going for best players during the drought: Fred, Moorman, Evans, McGee If we are going for the reason for the drought: Mike Williams, Levy the GM, Coy Wire, Kelsay
  9. This really sucks... he was one of my favorite players on the team. A hard working, humble guy who understands the game and what the Bills are all about. I'm glad he got to play in a playoff game to close out his career.
  10. Wood's cap number is $8.625MM. I'm assuming this all gets freed if he retires, correct? That's a significant chunk of money... they will be able to go after someone in FA.
  11. Ugh, anyone but Fox. CBS' production quality and announcers are a notch or two better than Fox's.
  12. I know it's off topic, but I'll bite... as is well reported, the Chargers have next to no fanbase in LA. When I went to the game, the stadium was majority Bills fans. Watching Peterman throw 5 interceptions in a visiting stadium, I expected to get heckled, or at least laughed at. I got nothing. No passion at all there. I originally agreed with you that the move wouldn't be so bad; they're moving back to their original city, but it was so poorly executed. Nearly every other franchise move was hundreds, if not thousands, of miles away from their originating city. The Chargers kept their name, logo, uniforms, and only moved 100 miles away. The AFL could pull that off in 1961 after one season, but the NFL can't pull such a close relocation off after 50+ years in the same city. It feels like the team had a fire or some natural disaster in San Diego and played out the season at a community college field as a contingency plan. I think the NFL would have been better off had the Chargers moved to Vegas, with the Raiders moving back to LA. The Raiders have a fanbase in LA and are enough of a draw themselves that LA could do a better job supporting them than the Chargers.
  13. I just noticed that. It proves how stupid that LA move of theirs was.
  14. I went to the Bills game in San Diego. They got trounced. That demoralized me enough to book a trip to the Big Island over Super Bowl Sunday. Then the Bills made the playoffs. And I panicked a little bit that there was an infinitesimal chance that they might actually beat the Pats and make it. Nope, this script has already been written. NE* wins, if anything was proven this season, it's that the refs will ensure they win. And I'll be on a beach on an island in the middle of the Pacific, not bothering to watch a minute of it.
  15. TG used to post on this forum. When individuals here disagreed with what he had to say, he got upset and left. There were a small handful of posters (including a former well respected forum member, also a journalist, who shared some of TG's less than desirable personality traits) who defended him. Some of those folks left the board in "solidarity" with Tim. I will end this by saying that I agree with the earlier poster's comment regarding Tim being his own worst enemy. I think that extends to print journalism in general and is one of the reasons why newspapers aren't adapting to the times.
  16. I don't know how I feel about this. I feel like the offensive-minded coaches that come out of the NCAA are rarely able to translate success at the collegiate level to the NFL. On the other hand, this guy has been around a lot of winning and he isn't a retread OC.
  17. Frankly he should have been fired when he tripped that one Baltimore player a few years back along the sideline. He lacks integrity and I'm surprised the Rooney family would stand for it this long.
  18. It's not as crazy an idea as it seems on its face. If both work out, you have an immediate trade asset. If one works out, then be happy you drafted two of them. If neither of them work out, well, it's no different than drafting one of those quarterbacks and an OL that turns out to be like Mike Williams or a DT like Dareus.
  19. I wouldn't mind Romo as quarterbacks coach, but you'd have to be out of your mind to make him a starting quarterback. Hell, he'd be out of his mind to do it. He's CBS' top color guy and probably one of the best we've seen in recent memory. No way he gives up that cushy job for a QB position.
  20. Usually you look at fired head coaches or the staffs of coaches that got canned. The only head coaches with an offensive background that got canned are Ben McAdoo and Jim Caldwell. Neither are great options...
  21. I just wonder how much of this is TT vs Dennison. If Dennison doesn't like TT, or TT can't make big plays, then the OC is somewhat limited in what he can call and what he can do. All I'm saying is that we have a tendency to blame the coordinators for everything, even lack of talent. It's indisputable that we have next to no talent on our offense outside of McCoy. We ran Kevin Gilbride out of town and he went on to win a Super Bowl against New England. I've seen enough of TT to know he needs to go... I am not so sure about Dennison. I'd be fine with Dennison being gone, but I just don't know that he's to blame for the current state of affairs on offense.
  22. I truly do not understand why Dennison is hated so much. TT was essentially the same guy under Roman and Lynn. I don't agree with the love of Tolbert but is that Dennison or McD's fault? The OC and DC are always the scapegoats with fanbases. I can't remember the last time we weren't trying to run either our OC or DC out of town.
  23. Assuming they have a legitimate shot at Cousins, they will draft DL help to replace Kyle and Dareus. I'd like to see them go LB with the second pick but I suspect they will spend it on offense, either a WR or a lineman. Otherwise, I think they pick "their guy" and trade up. I can't see them going into next season with a journeyman quarterback and a middle-round rookie QB.
  24. Agreed. Unlike the Ted Cruz clown that comes posting, I appreciate this guy's sentiments.
