  1. The playing field is definitely different with AT&T spinning off the DirecTV unit. I would not expect deals to be handed out like candy. The spinoff hasn't happened yet so the new entity can't yet retain customers with these deals, and AT&T wants to cut costs to the bone until the transaction is complete.
  2. I live about 15 minutes away from the scene of the crash. That construction zone on SR-520 near the Microsoft campus has had a number of crashes - the lanes narrow and shift in that area to allow for the construction of light rail and accompanying pedestrian bridges in the area. I can imagine it's quite a challenge to successfully navigate that drunk, particularly if you are speeding or if there is a car on the other side of you. I would also be very surprised if there is race bias involved here. While the neighborhood is well to do, that area just to the east of Microsoft where Sherman's in laws live is deep blue (Biden won by 48-50 points in those precincts), very diverse, and the Redmond police department has a very good reputation locally, certainly better than SPD or the King County Sheriff's Office. When your in laws call the cops on you because you're trying to break into your home, the problem generally isn't the cops in that situation.
  3. Has there been any clarity on the proof required for vaccination? Being from out of state, we get the CDC ID cards, but all of the articles I am reading seem to indicate it's the Excelsior Pass or nothing.
  4. It is funny... I don't like to park our 6 year old CR-V at the airport (or at an offsite lot) specifically because airports are in dodgy areas with significantly higher crime. At least Seatac is, anyway. The 45-minute Lyft drive was cheaper than the 10 nights of parking, even at discounted off airport pricing.
  5. How much of this is on Singletary and Moss or the scheme versus the talent on the line? I feel like McBeane has never been afraid to cut loose any players that aren't cutting it. Even TBD's favorite whipping boy and process disciple, Mike Tolbert, wasn't brought back after 17. If they felt someone else was available that could both fit into their budget and outperform existing talent, they'd likely make that move.
  6. It rotates based on conference. The AFC all gets homes games this year, followed by the NFC. Thus, since you're only competing against your own conference for a playoff spot (ask crayonz for why the Bills should lose games to NFC teams), it levels the field.
  7. By eliminating sudden death overtime and shortening the overtime period to 10 minutes? Both of those rule changes increase the likelihood of ties. I don't like ties, either, but I also don't like arbitrary rule changes that alter the game (college OT, picking a yard line at the coin toss, etc). The basic flow is a kickoff followed by a drive down the field, with punts and turnovers in between that change possession. Eliminating any of those changes the nature of the previous 60 minutes of competition. If the NFL rewarded wins with '3' points and ties with '1', in a points-based standing system similar to the NHL, I suspect you will see teams play hard to win as opposed to tie should overtime be eliminated and regulation solely determines the winner.
  8. I agree with this. It will make the last two minutes of the fourth quarter in a tight game a lot more interesting - do you play for the tie or for the win? Week 17 ties would add a lot more drama to playoff races as well, with that scenario being significantly more likely to happen.
  9. Yeah and if Bass gets injured without a punter to back him up, or vice versa, you see this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBiyYPFE8cA
  10. I agree with this. I don't think Feliciano is as good as Morse, and the dead cap hit of $5.5M just doesn't make sense. If you cut Morse, do it in 2022 when the cap hit is in excess of $11M and the dead cap is only $2.75M
  11. I'm going with Edmunds... it's a hard call between him, Knox, and Singletary. I think most are unhappy with the DL but with Murphy barely playing and Star opting out, our two usual whipping boys aren't receiving as much attention.
  12. There was a thread started on this at the beginning of the season, and I thought it might be interesting to rekindle this discussion given all the talk about cap casualties... who's receiving the most criticism this offseason from fans here, either deservedly so or not?
  13. This is why I don't think this is a good idea. Space is needed in future years when Allen's contract is going to hit, and also keep in mind that the new TV contracts are looming which will cause cap numbers to go up (as well as salaries) I'd much rather extend some of these guys while frontloading the cap hit, and lock them in at "bargain" pricing. Make room for that by cutting the fat on defense instead.
  14. A journeyman vet that can't cut it as a starter but can win a few games if Allen is out would be ideal. I just don't see Barkley being able to beat an average team and that's a problem. I'd let him walk. Fitz or Dalton would be my top choices. I think Fitz will command more money than we'd like to spend on the backup quarterback, though.
  15. I would much rather draft TE or LB (especially if Milano is gone) and fill OL in the 3rd or later rounds.
  16. Any concession on the part of the team like that should lower the overall price of the contract and thus impact on the cap. I'd be in favor of it.
  17. This is getting a lot of attention in officiating circles. It's a major administrative error -- misapplication of the rules is usually a death sentence for a playoff assignment for an official. Al Riveron's only role as SVP of officiating is replay. I would expect him to be the fall guy here, and I would not be at all surprised of Walt Anderson takes over the replay duties next season.
  18. I don't think that's fair - McD and Frazier are not above criticism and they will be the first people to tell you that. The Bills got killed by Kelce and Hill the entire game and Kelce in particular was wide open constantly in the second half. They accounted for 290 of 325 yards of passing from Mahomes. After the first half, where Kelce just killed you, it would seem to make sense to adjust to that and take him away. Sell out and make the Chiefs beat you on the ground or with other receivers. This is how Belichick typically game plans on defense -- make a team win in a different way -- and it usually works. The CBS sideline reporter mentioned that McD was keeping the same game plan for the second half. Anyone watching that game must've thought he was either (1) lying, or (2) out of his mind. Significant changes needed to be made on defense after giving up 21 points in the second quarter, and they failed to do so.
  19. I think it starts with cutting Edmunds loose and shoring up the LB corps. KC picked on him all day and he had no answer.
  20. The Saints are what, $99M over the cap next season? Even with losing the Brees contract, I don't see how they could afford Stafford. I agree with others and think Indy is the likely landing spot.
  21. Let this be a lesson to the NFL. It's a 20-20 game and this is arguably the least exciting game of the entire weekend. They try to hype Brees-Brady by putting it in the late Sunday slot but both are constantly checking down and Brees in particular is just bad. Nobody looks like they deserve to win this game. I get that the AFC teams are smaller markets, but those two games were far and away better than the two NFC games this weekend. Oh, and Buck and Aikman as the announcers just add to the pain. They both seem as interested to be here as folks in this thread.
  22. Watching this game vs the CLE/KC game, I honestly just don't care about this one. These quarterbacks are vanilla at this point in their careers, lots of safe throws so far. The NFC is going to be a barren wasteland in a couple years if this is the best they have to offer.
  23. I suspect this guy will be sighted at Chiefs headquarters this week...
