  1. Fitz to the Cowboys makes a lot more sense than going after Darnold. The Jets have scarred Darnold and I think he's on the way to flaming out, short of getting into a situation where he's backing up a vet that knows what he's doing and can impart some of his experience onto him. I also suspect the asking price for Darnold will be higher than Fitz, and assuming Dak actually makes it back, Dallas only needs a rental QB. Strangely, I like Fitz enough to make me slightly consider rooting for Dallas. Never thought those words would come out of my mouth.
  2. BBFS is creeping back into my soul again. It is really hard for me to be happy with this win given the thorough beat downs of the last two weeks at the hands of the Chiefs and Titans and the haplessness of the Jets. They seemed to be in the upper echelon of the league, only to demonstrate that they simply aren't there yet. A win against the Patriots* would go a long way towards curing that feeling. This is a game that McDermott should be able to win and it's against a team that has had our number for the last 20 years. A win here makes the path towards winning the division much easier. If it's a loss, well, we're staring down the barrel of 5-5 with games against the Seahawks and Cardinals. It's not a given but a loss to NE* makes wins look a lot less likely there.
  3. I will take the win here, but this was just a horrible game against a historically bad team. This was reminiscent of the 6-3 Cleveland game. Ineptitude on both sides reigned supreme. In combination with the last two, I just don't have a lot of confidence heading into the NE* game. The only advantage I see that the Bills have going into this game is McD's familiarity with Cam Newton.
  4. I think your theory is correct. I was messaging my dad during the game and we both noticed this. The injury has thrown off the improvements he made to his mechanics and he's now reverting to bad habits to try to compensate. If this is the case, I'd rather see them rest him next week against the Jets to allow him to heal and have him ready for Belichick and the Seahawks. If there was one game on the schedule I'd have to choose to sit him for, it'd be against the Jets.
  5. It is just one game... however the defense has been a problem the entire season. Star and Lorax might be a part of it, and losing Milano and White didn't help last night either. But there are a couple things that have emerged as patterns that are worrisome to me. You can wager on almost every play to see Hughes overpursue and end up in the backfield, with the quarterback or running back several yards away from him. Jerry doesn't have the speed anymore to catch up and it's painfully evident that one of his few moves is to just run around the offensive lineman into no mans land. Our linebacking corps, particularly Edmunds, might as well not even be on the field. Poyer and Hyde have been making way too many tackles that Edmunds should be making which is allowing 3-4 yard gains to turn into 7-8 yard chunks. But the intangible thing I don't see on defense this season is hard hitting aggressiveness. We were completely flat footed last night and frankly I haven't seen the defense fired up at all in any of the five games we've seen. The offense, on the other hand, has had a ton of energy and aggressiveness. It was like night and day watching Tennessee hit our guys on offense compared to the anemic attempts we were making at stopping their offense. McD needs to lay into this unit and get some fire in the belly there. White and Milano can only carry us so far. If we want to go deep into the playoffs, Edmunds really needs to step up and start leading the defense. Frasier should only be relieved of his duties if he cannot get that aggressiveness back and/or has a disagreement in philosophy with McD, and I think he at least has the season to do that.
  6. The other hammer is held by Cuomo. Currently, professional sports teams have an exemption for the out-of-state quarantine rules. That can easily be pulled if the NFL is deemed to be reckless.
  7. The Bills should just flat out refuse to play on Tuesday out of player safety. We've bent over backwards long enough for Tennessee.
  8. They are bound by the terms and conditions of the agreement between the NFL and NFLPA. The team legally cannot do anything without an agreement between those two parties... and you can bet that other forces at play (i.e. the NFL, other teams that might find themselves in this situation, the NFLPA wanting local tax treatment, etc) would push back.
  9. It's much trickier than this. Tennessee is one of the states that doesn't have an income tax. Players would likely be subject to NYS income tax, which on their salaries, can account for a significant chunk of their paycheck. How this would be sorted out, who knows.
  10. I think the Bills hold the cards here. Simply refuse to re-jigger the schedule if it's anything other than moving their week 11 bye. Refuse to go down to Nashville with the claim that they already broke the rules, we can't trust that organization to have properly followed them since the outbreak. Otherwise, force the NFL to forfeit the game in favor of the Titans. That would create a firestorm of bad publicity...
  11. They certainly can play a game on Saturday. It just can't be televised unless they receive an administrative variance from the FCC, which I would expect them to receive given the circumstances.
  12. Put money on this - he's going to Miami as OC. Chan is old and Flores will bring in a Belichick disciple to replace him. Add Houston's picks to that too. Watch out for the Dolphins.
  13. They either need to drill this into him, or have Barkley hold for Bass. This is the second time now that he's done that, his track record as a holder with that incorrect fake field goal call a few years ago isn't awesome.
  14. In terms of creative scheduling, I could see them moving BUF/TEN to Monday or Tuesday night, and then swapping the KC/BUF Thursday night game with one of the Sunday games. FOX has the doubleheader that weekend, with a single game (GB/TB) in the late slot. TB plays on Thursday this coming week, so playing again on Thursday isn't a big deal. Green Bay has a bye week next week. The Chiefs already have 3 games in 10 days, so there is an argument to punting the Thursday game off to Sunday for competitive reasons. It also allows FOX to feature Mahomes in the late slot on Sunday which will be a ratings grab.
  15. Fitz is pretty darn close to my favorite Bill of all time. Not because of playing ability, but because he was one of the few players that "gets it" with respect to Bills fans and their relationship with the team. I also believe the speculation that he was "NeverGiveUp" on this message board... The only reason I would see Daboll taking that job would be to turn Darnold around. The rest of the team, and the organization, is a complete mess. It's a teardown/rebuild and I don't see how Darnold survives that. I think he gets shipped off elsewhere.
  16. Jackson has to improve as a passer if he expects to remain an elite quarterback. We've all seen the improvements over last season from Allen... I haven't seen that from Jackson. The other knock against Jackson - he cannot come from behind and he appears defeated when he's in a hole. Both Mahomes and Allen have proven they can do this. Jackson looks like the same quarterback he was last year. If defenses can force him into a pass heavy game, he's going to be ineffective. Personally, that is not the player I would want at quarterback and why so many people whined about Allen being unable to hit 300yds until this season. FWIW, despite the looming matchup with KC, I think Allen's big test is Belichick and NE*. They write the defensive blueprints for other teams to beat an opposing quarterback. Allen has to prove he can beat the cheaters before I give him a seat at the elite quarterback table.
  17. Tape always plays to NE*'s advantage. Belichick is at his weakest early in the season when other teams haven't yet been taped extensively. They are experts at exploiting game film.
  18. Not on GamePass, but on SundayTicket.TV, you most definitely can. That is what I've been using for the last 3 seasons. Any local games will be blacked out though, and you will need to watch them on your local TV network. And as far as finding a university student... I bet you know someone with kids in college, or a relative that's in college. Maybe a coworker that's getting an MBA or MPA? All of these would qualify. You just need a name and a school.
  19. Sign up for SundayTicket.TV U. If you know someone that is a student, you can get a subscription through them for $99 a year. To me, that amount of money is worth avoiding the hassle of VPNs and location-based services.
  20. It could really go either way. Kickers can boom PATs and 65 yard field goals in practice, and then get the yips in a game time situation. Hauschka had is fair share of mental issues down the stretch so it's no given that he's any better, especially when you consider leg strength. Bass will get his chance and we'll see how it goes. It could end horribly and he could end up getting cut in week 4, or he could be a breakout. With kickers, you never know.
  21. The punishment doesn't fit the crime. Brown is the biggest cheerleader for the Bills in the "media", if you want to call a team-employed beat reporter a member of the media. Unless this was a repeated thing, where he was told to knock it off and he kept doing it anyway, this is a gross overreaction on the part of the organization. He's been doing this gig for years to rave reviews from his employer, and now with the new rules he has to adjust. Adjusting after 20 years is hard and mistakes like this are bound to happen... and they are hardly major mistakes. McD started Peterman how many times? And the team kept Peterman for how long after these repeated mistakes? That was a much bigger mistake than this... and I didn't see any suspensions coming from that, and rightly so. Mistakes happen.
  22. That's crazy... but the NCAA does have some kind of authority over these programs, no? They issue sanctions for rule violations for CFB programs, for instance.
  23. The almighty dollar and the egos of big time college football programs can't take the hit of a cancelled season. I suspect this will be put to bed in a week or so when the NCAA does the job for the conferences and cancels all fall sports.
