  1. If the canopy is too big - you're going to end up with the old Texas Stadium with its ridiculous hole in the roof. This feels fine - looks like the decks above the lower deck are all covered so the option is there if you want it. I kind of like the idea that those who wish to brave the elements are rewarded with better/closer seats.
  2. I mean... Chroise (there's a word I haven't heard around here for a while) + Bill Walsh's top recommendation couldn't be wrong? Right?
  3. The 2008 Bills say hi: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Buffalo_Bills_season#Schedule_2
  4. I tend to agree with this. His ceiling is a mediocre quarterback that might be good enough to compete for a wild card spot. In a division with Jackson and Burrow, it's not good enough.
  5. Bills, Chiefs, and Eagles are three easy ones. For the other three, I'm gonna go with the Giants, Vikings, and... the Jets. Can't believe I said that.
  6. This times 1000. Most teams would kill for our depth chart at WR. You do not trade for players based on what could happen. You trade for players at the deadline to fill immediate needs. There is no need on this team for a WR. By this same logic we should be going after a LB - what if Milano gets injured and we're stuck with Edmunds and Dodson? That proposition seems a lot scarier to me than (Diggs or Davis) and Shakir as WR1 and WR2. Or what about trading for a kicker? After all, what happens if Bass is injured and we can't kick PATs?
  7. I have not watched a lot of the Jets this year... they actually look halfway decent. Not elite by any means, but they aren't a joke anymore.
  8. I don't understand why so many people feel like we need someone else on top of Diggs and Davis or some other running back. If anything, this team needs OG help.
  9. There are two common fouls that result in a loss of down - intentional grounding, and an illegal forward pass where the pass occurs beyond the line of scrimmage. These fouls fall into the same category - the offense is doing something especially egregious to avoid a bad play like a sack (intentional grounding), or to try to draw a penalty after a gain which would result in an additional down (as an illegal forward pass is a spot foul). I think the second case is the interesting one. Say it is 2nd and 20. The quarterback gains 10 yards on a run and is about to get tackled. He heaves the ball forward and it's incomplete. That's a 5 yard penalty from the spot of the foul. If not for the loss of down, it'd be 2nd and 15 instead of 3rd and 15. Basically - loss of down is there to prevent the offense from doing something like taking a penalty or throwing the ball nowhere and cancelling out a good play by the defense. OPI doesn't fit into this category.
  10. It's not Jets week yet... but I'm happy to see Spags is alive and well this season. How's your pretty boy QB doing?
  11. Good field position... for the love of all that is holy, feed Singletary!
  12. Get the ball to Singletary on first and second - he's gotta be averaging 6ypc. Keep doing it until they prove they can stop it.
  13. This is very much not the right advice - the mileage range is often marketing hype with very little truth behind it. Those "150 mile" antennas aren't going to get you a signal from 150 miles away. The height, terrain, and trees make a much bigger difference. You need to determine if your CBS station is VHF or UHF (use rabbitears.info) and get the appropriate type and size antenna from one of the major manufacturers - Channel Master, Winegard, Antennas Direct, or Televes. If the physical channel is 2-13, it's VHF, otherwise it's UHF. If you have line of sight, and you're within say 20 miles of the antenna with no ridges inbetween, you can probably get away with an indoor antenna. If you're 20-40 miles away or you have a ridge between you and the tower, a medium sized outdoor antenna or an antenna in the attic should be fine. Anything more than 40 miles or in mountainous/forested areas calls for a large antenna. "Antenna Man" on youtube is a good resource for antenna tests and narrowing your list down to a few options.
  14. Yes. The last was 1943: https://nflscorigami.com/
  15. That's the mindboggling thing. They could have spent this on the Sunday Ticket contract and forced a prime subscription to get access to that. Instead, Apple is gonna outbid them. These Thursday games are middling crap that usually get the C or D crew on Sunday afternoons. How this is worth a billion dollars is beyond me.
  16. For week 18 - if home field is in the balance with KC, we will likely be playing at 4:25pm since KC will be in Las Vegas for week 18, and thus the game cannot start at 1pm. The NFL likes to have teams with interdependent games playing in the same time slot so that they maximize the number of meaningful games.
  17. Brad Allen in Kansas City. He did the playoff game last year in Buffalo against NE*: https://nflcommunications.com/Documents/2022 Football Information/Capsules/Week 6 Capsules.pdf
  18. Wow they're gonna get the ball back...
  19. Scored too quick there...
  20. I hope the Bills are watching this game closely. KC is going to get every call at Arrowhead - they've gotta play disciplined football, stick with their coverages, and tackle well. Allen is gonna have to be a beast in this one.
  21. Wow the refs... holy crap.
  22. I think his point is that there was a sizable contingent on this board that slammed Daboll for never running the ball, and that there was some philosophical thing with him that prevented him from designing a running game. Sort of like how Greg Roman is run happy and is pass averse. There were rumors that McD was pissed at the lack of a running game and that he felt Daboll was one of the reasons why. Clearly the data from this season shows he's flexible enough to modify his offense to emphasize the strengths of his players. I'm not saying it warrants its own thread, but I don't think his point is as simple as the above.
  23. And 9h to Germany and most of Central Europe. The bottom line compensation difference will also be massive - taxes in Europe are no joke. I feel like Mexico and Canada are the smarter moves for international expansion. No need to worry about time zones at all and you could put them in the same divisions as US teams pretty easily. Similarly, I wonder if they could get some traction in South America where Brazil, Chile, and Argentina have solid soccer stadiums. Those flights are quite long, but the time change is minimal at least.
  24. I have no idea why Denver gave him so much guaranteed money. Living in Seahawks land and seeing their games on local TV, it was clear that while Wilson didn't have a great supporting cast in his last year there, he was also part of the problem. He lost his elusiveness as a passer and he couldn't adapt his game to hide his age. Adding to that, the talent around him wasn't able to pick up the slack, but that gave Russ an excuse for his performance. The media here gave him a pass, that is until it was clear that he and the team were headed for splitsville and then it became open season on him. I also think another problem for Wilson is that he was in a very stable organization for his entire career, with a very good head coach. Denver is a huge change of scenery both in terms of the city as well as the team - they haven't had stability since Kubiak and Manning left and have been nothing short of a dumpster fire - a 30-51 record from 2017-2021. Wilson has never had to deal with this kind of dysfunctional culture in his career and I suspect he's at a loss in terms of how to handle the locker room as a leader. So my takeaway here - Denver is screwed for multiple seasons with an albatross of a contract, particularly in the AFC West where the competition is fierce. Their only hope is that Hackett can somehow pull a rabbit of his hat and tweak the offense in such a way that it masks Wilson's flaws.
