2013 HOF Finalists; Update - Andre Reed did not make it
MichFan replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it is much deserved and I hope this is the year. I watched the comeback game against the Oilers on the 20th Anniversary -- one of the things that it helped me to remember is what a tough player Reed was. Brown and Carter were primarily stretch the field receivers. Reed did it all. He was willing to cut across the middle and did so often. He had great hands. He got yards after the catch. He was every bit as important to the Bills offensive success as Kelly and Thomas. I would hope whoever is responsible for promoting his credentials can properly frame this side to his career and help voters to look beyond just the numbers. -
I admire the optimism and wish I could share in it. But that "if" is a huge if. I have seen nothing from Gailey or Wanny to believe they are capable of understanding the skills of this team, how to leverage it and how to motivate it. I believe this is a playoff caliber team this year, unfortunately it is being squandered with incompetent and stubborn coaching.

Fitz went 27 for 35, 225 yds, 3td, 1int. Freddy and CJ both got 70yds. Stevie had 5 catches for 70yds. These are winning stats for the offense. The defense flat out sucks, no sense trying to misdirect the blame to Fitz. Fix the defense and this team is 5-2. Replace Fitz and this team is still 3-4.

The 2012 Bills were built to hold the opponents' scoring down and to score enough points to win. For all the complaining about Fitz, the offense has held their end of the bargain in 4 of 5 games, while the defense has been gouged for 40+ points in 3 losses. I'll worry more about Fitz if the defense ever arrives. When Freddy, CJ, Urbik and Glen are healthy, this offense is a force provided Gailey accepts what they are ... a run first powerhouse. I'm not defending Fitz, just saying that he's not the reason for the 3 losses, and focusing on him distracts from the root cause for why this team seems so hopeless right now.

Thanks for the information. Unfortunately, people will have to read through 18+ pages of Internet rumors and emotion to get to it.

Re: the saying "Hi" remarks. Having lived in both the North and South for many years each, I think that gauging friendliness of an area based upon upfront niceties is very misleading. I have developed deeper and longer lasting friendships with people in the North (including Yankees living in the South). My experience with Southerners has been that they are easy to know on the surface, but difficult to get to know at a deeper level. Buffalonians are the opposite, difficult to know on the surface, but easy to know on a deeper level if you demonstrate that you are genuine. I can understand why a short-timer would struggle, someone like Josh probably wasn't genuinely interested in getting to know the public.

"Bills fans are buying up all the tickets"
MichFan replied to rolly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Saw the Bills thrash the Browns in Cleveland during the '90 season, 42-0. Sweet revenge following the Harmon dropped pass in the playoffs. Kosar was benched for the game. Carson was fired after the game. I sat in the dog pound and was treated very rudely all the way to my seat. Fortunately I ended up in the middle of a large group of Bills fans. By half-time the Cleveland fans emptied out. There were still around 15,000 Bills fans and we made a lot of noise the whole second half. I'll never forget this old guy sitting near me took a F&$@ Buffalo shirt and ran it up the flag pole. Security from the opposite end of the field saw it -- they ran across the field, climbed up into the dog pound and hauled the guy away. It was also the first time I ever had to stand shoulder to shoulder around a trough just to take a piss, yuck. -
Hasselbeck vs Hoge on the Saints
MichFan replied to Maury Ballstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I completely agree with Hoge on this one. Hasslebeck looked like an over emotional whiner and had every counter argument quickly refuted. I hate the characterization of unions that Hasselbeck espouses -- reactive and working counter to management. It is juvenile. Most American unions are well beyond this way of thinking, unions that still operate this way are dragging their companies down. The NFLPA needs to be very careful about defending these players given the storm clouds that are gathering concerning litigation by former players. -
Don't forget Cordy.

Best Bills draft ever ... for first names at least.

That would make me very happy, but my screen name gives me away on this one.

All Peyton Manning, all the time!

It's not a violation because it counts against the cap. -
Mario Williams: Officially a Buffalo Bill
MichFan replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Technically, we'd have to sign a Luigi for that to be accurate. -
Buffalo has talked to Mario Manningham- Per shefter
MichFan replied to Deep2Moulds46's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure Manningham is worth the $ he will command. As a UMich fan, of all the alumni receivers in the NFL, I still wish Jason Avant would end up in a Bills uniform. Eagles underutilize the guy. -
The Official Bills vs Pats* Game thread
MichFan replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Chan knows how to lose, can't deny him that. I'm so sick of the crap I have seen from him over the past two seasons, this is just icing on the cake. Yet again he is at the helm of a losing team. Time for a new staff. But I'm sure Chan will get at least 2 more seasons as long as Ralph is around. -
That was Boomer Esiason saying the Lions are for real and the Pats defense is bad. What a jerk.

Don't NOT-NOT get too giddy over this win
MichFan replied to DUFF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wasn't that a triple negative? Don't (do not), not, not. I agree with the double negative but not the triple negative. Gotta celebrate a win like this! -
Interesting, we have the 3rd smartest handing off to the 9th dumbest.

Stanley Cup or Vince Lombardi Trophy?

It's already been determined ... Sabres will get the cup first through divine intervention. (Bruce Almighty) -

Pyor makes Newton look humble and talented in comparison. Do not wish Pryor on this team, there are enough problems, let's not create another one by bringing a diva on board. Sounds like Buckeye and Michigan fans agree on this. I'm just glad RichRod lost out on this kid, one of the few things that turned out well under his tenure.
-
The Bills should not take Pryor. He was an average at best college QB. Ohio St. had a lot of games that were close into the 4th Quarter because their defense kept them in the game. Then Pryor would finally make a couple of plays and that's all you would see on Sports Center. The kid also is obviously not a team player -- getting his college into major trouble and then throwing them farther under the bus while trying to get into the supplemental. No value at any round with this kid. Needs a ton of development. Not the kind of person you want in the locker room.

You'll earn redemption if he tells his mother to get in the kitchen and knit him a sweater.

[closed]Who will be the punching bag now
MichFan replied to Defend Greece's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't care who it is. As long as we aren't paying our old punching bag nearly $500,000 per regular season game, or $1 million per game he actually dresses for. -
After a couple more years of getting beat by Brady
MichFan replied to billsfreak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd much rather see our improving defense play a Mallet-led Pats than a Mallet-led Bills face the Pats.
