  1. Wonder if Pettine might come back to Buffalo as DC if this happens.
  2. Seems like we didn't need this excuse last year when the defense had strong showings against Denver, Green Bay and New England at the end of the season... The coaches know something is wrong, the players know something is wrong, the alumni know something is wrong, the analysts know something is wrong, the fans know something is wrong ... yet someone still wants to defend the performance of this defense season-to-date. Wow.
  3. I'm left to wonder, will TPegs let the Bills go the way of the Sabres, or did he learn and will he ensure adjustments get made immediately. I never liked letting Schwartz go, he had his finger on the pulse of this defense. Ryan has proven he is unable to get production out of them and now one of the best players is openly questioning his calls. The season hangs in the balance and it's only week 6.
  4. As a Bills and Michigan fan, I second that! Both of my teams are benefitting from his stupidity.
  5. Just to add to this -- don't forget the first drive in the second preseason game, it was nearly 10 minutes (even though it ended with a missed field goal). This offense may be capable of doing to Indy and NE what the Giants did to the Bills in the first Super Bowl. Imagine giving our defense that much rest and forcing Luck/Brady to be frustrated on the sidelines.
  6. I was at the practice yesterday, first time ever for me. On the Taylor to Goodwin throw, Taylor seriously underthrew it. Goodwin was wide open on a streak, he had to turn 180 and almost come to a stop to try and catch it. It did bounce off his chest, but he was in an awkward position just trying to make the play. The only other pass beyond 20yds I can recall during the practice was from Cassel and it was horribly inaccurate. Trent Edwards would be the starter based on what I saw yesterday, checkdown after checkdown all morning. EJ threw a pick 6 to Gilmore, didn't see that mentioned here. Cassel had accuracy problems. EJ really has great physical characteristics, too bad he can't seem to put it together. Seantrel Henderson and Marqueis Gray are big dudes, was surprised when I saw them in person. I thought there would have been some type of sendoff at the end of practice e.g., a thank you from the team to the fans in Pittsford and a rousing cheer to send the team off. Nope, they just left the field when practice was over and the fans quietly filed out.
  7. Woods is my pick for biggest surprise as well. Not because I think he will have big stats, but because I think he is the only one of our top three receivers who will fully embrace run support. I'm anticipating Shady popping long runs due to Woods' outside/downfield blocking.
  8. When he sees how the team does without Harbaugh, he'll be the one who is clinical ... depressed that is. No more Super Bowl dreams for the Niners.
  9. It would be against the competitive nature that makes him great to do this. I understand the ruling that was made, but completely disagree with the interpretation of what Dez was doing. If he could have just gone out of bounds and it would have been a catch, then clearly he made a football move in trying to reach the endzone meaning he already had possession.
  10. Makes sense, considering how the Broncos offense abruptly shifted to a power running game and short passes while rarely stretching the field the last few regular season games.
  11. As others have stated, I'd like to see Schwartz become HC for reasons of recognizing success and continuity, then pay big bucks for the best offensive coordinator we can get.
  12. My son was born in Spring 2000. He will go to college in Fall 2018. I may never get to live through the excitement of a post-season gameday with him. At this point, I don't know how this team magically turns things around in 2-3 years considering the free agents we will likely be losing and the ineptness of the current regime and QBs. It's a stunning state of affairs, I don't know that I've ever felt so hopeless as a fan of my hometown team.
  13. It's not just after a loss. The Shoutbox on gameday doesn't wait that long. The season was over after the Bills went 3-and-out against the Bears and then the Bears scored a touchdown on their first possession.
  14. I had to put up with the Jets radio crew on XM yesterday. Their lead guy was THE WORST I have ever suffered through. Guy should have gotten the Geno treatment and been benched by halftime.
  15. It's great to see the excitement, he's like a kid on Christmas morning.
  16. Urban Meyer still thinks Aaron Hernandez is a good kid who just needs mentoring and guidance.
  17. If NE should be calling for anyone's head it should be Josh Daniels. KC's offensive coordinator just destroyed Daniels with regards to gameplan and play calling. Brady made the throws that he was asked to make. KC's defense just needed to keep the play in front of them because most passes were 0-5 yards. NE had no vertical threat -- they sat Thompkins and Dodson, Amendola and Edelman were rubbed out on almost every play and Gronk wasn't getting open. Their only TD before garbage time was due to two Chiefs defenders wiping each other out. Nice to see the Pats going through their Jauron era.
  18. Wow. This actually makes me rethink my strong desire to see EJ sit because it doesn't matter who the QB is if the playcalling is being made by someone with his head up his a_ _. Maybe the disgusted looks from Williams and Wood had more to do with Hackett than Manuel. If Hackett is really this bad, the season is screwed so what does it matter...
  19. From what I saw, the Vikings' offensive game plan was brilliant. Good balance between running and passing. Used a power running game to shred Atlanta's defense, then mixed in mostly conservative passes over the middle. Patterson was used mostly as a decoy, Jennings had a few downfield targets, but the RBs and some unknown rookie WR got most of the work using screens and short- to mid-range crossing patterns. Patterson is one of my fantasy WRs and it was pissing me off how many times he would get open downfield and Bridgewater wouldn't even look at his side of the field. Just goes to show that an experienced coaching staff can give kids a chance to succeed by having the right gameplan. Unfortunately, we are dealing with amateurs in Buffalo.
  20. Nice guy. Drops in to see each of his kids a few times a year. Punishes them old school when they misbehave (perhaps they have behavior issues because they don't have a Dad around?). Then throws his Father under the bus to justify his actions.
  21. If they're football fans, they'll understand. KC is a relatively small market as well.
  22. I find public displays of jealousy to be disgusting and pathetic.
  23. No. To my knowledge, he has never been accused of being a leader let alone mature. My experience with watching him in college was that when he made a bad throw he walked back to the huddle, when his receiver missed a catch he gestured and pointed fingers. He also wouldn't hesitate to get in the coach's face. This team doesn't need to bring an attitude on board at this point. We also don't need to mortgage the future any more than we already have done.
  24. I guess this makes up for him forcing me to see Janet Jackson's nipple. Oh wait, I think I actually enjoyed that.
  25. Getting the wynn is better than getting the byrd.
