Amen to that -- otherwise people might have thought he was a little smarter than the average rapper.

Tom Brady is an unassuming leader and a great teammate who doesn't feel he needs the spotlight (and isn't comfortable with the spotlight either). He was this way at Michigan as well. He plays the role you ask him to and doesn't argue or complain about it. At the same time, he's confident in his ability. I don't see that as a lack of personality, I see it as his personality. Perhaps in the modern era of athletes with dominant personalities and high powered agents, this comes across as odd. I like it and wish more were that way.

It's crises like this which highlight the true idiocy at the heart of liberalism in America today. Thanks to the Kanye West defenders and Bush bashers in this thread for advancing my already solid faith in the merits of conservative leadership.

There are plenty of people in the league who leave themselves open to criticism for the way they behave on the field, Brady is not one of them. The guy is a solid QB, a solid teammate, and does a lot of good things for the community. It just makes you guys look like bush-league fans and bitter losers to talk this way about him. And that's coming from a diehard Bills fan. I guess some people have no respect for anything that doesn't wear a buffalo on the helmet. Regarding Dillon - the guy has never taken leadership from anyone, so why would you expect anything different now?

Saints/Bills game Most likely in Buffalo
MichFan replied to Thailog80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They should just go ahead and plan to play all the Saints games on the road this year using the policy put forward by the Giants. That way the Saints could be directly supporting their community by hitting the road to raise money for relief/reconstruction efforts. Any stadium the Saints play in should also have a special fundraising effort for that game. For fairness sake, the one thing the league could do would be to reinstate the fan noise interefence rule (e.g., couple of warnings and then team penalized if fans don't quiet down) for Saints home games that are played on the road. That way they wouldn't be dealing with loud crowds when operating on offense. -
The hope for this years O-line is that it can approach being average. Clearly, by letting Drew and Jonas go and putting JP in, there is an acknowledgement that we're not going to pursue a high-cost dominant O-line. When we play average to poor defenses, we'll likely be pleased with their performance for the most part. But JP is going to be doing a lot of scrambling when we face a dominant D-line. Houston will be a good test as they have always had a stout defense. I remember they took out Miami in Miami on opening day a couple of years ago solely on the performance of their defense. I seem to recall them dealing us a painful loss in Buffalo that same season.

From my experience in the corporate world, many drug policies allow for testing when there is probable cause. So if someone were to publicly announce that they take drugs as Randy Moss did, their company could drug test them simply on those grounds. Not saying that the NFL policy works this way, but it is a fact of life for many of us.

Must've been the clouds in their coffee that got them OT this morning...

a) take a pill, read the post again, reflect on the sarcasm and obvious overexageration b) it is far too early to consider McGahee one of the premiere RBs in the league c) no I'm not high TIME IN!
-
Okay -- that's it -- no more Miami Hurricanes should ever play football along Lake Erie. (Parrish, Everett, McGahee, Winslow) Obviously they are too soft for the rust belt.

Thoughts and prayers heading your way. Rituxan is an early stage of a very exciting new approach to beating cancer. If it doesn't completely eliminate your NHL, it should at least hold you over until they make these immunotherapeutic drugs more powerful. I'm hoping if my wife ever develops HL again that'll be the cure as well. God bless!

NHL by EASports is a flatout ridiculous version of the sport that no longer is competitive. I used to love it in the '90s, but lately it has sucked. Save your money and buy NHL 2K6 for $29.99 when it comes out in early September. It is a much better hockey game and will have more accurate rosters.

Glad someone else knew of this song! I heard it for the first time on a trip to Paris. I was in my young 20's and a hard rocker at the time (still am), but the beauty of the song just struck me and I bought the Stars CD. I pulled it out a couple years ago for the first time in a long time, and when "For Your Babies" came on it hit me that it was the first time I listened to the song as a father -- a pretty cool moment.

If you are looking for a warm-fuzzy video, this song is the greatest baby song. Simply Red - For Your Babies You’ve got that look again The one I hoped I had when I was a lad Your face is just beaming Your smile got me boasting, my pulse roller-coastering Anyway the four winds that blow They’re gonna send me sailing home to you Or I’ll fly with the force of a rainbow The dream of gold will be waiting in your eyes You know I’d do most anything you want Hey i, I try to give you everything you need I can see that it gets to you I don’t believe in may things But in you I do Her faith is amazing The pain that she goes through contained in the hope for you Your whole world has changed The years spent before seem more cloudy than blue In many ways your baby’s controlling When you haven’t laid down for days For the poor no time to be thinking They’re too busy finding ways You know I’d do most anything you want Hey i, I try to give you everything you need I’ll see that it gets to you I don’t believe in many things But in you I do You know I’d do most anything you want Everyday i, I try to give you everything you need We’ll always be there for you I don’t believe in many things But in you I do

Mike, the area I'm describing is the far West outskirts of Ypsilanti, an area that feels more like an extension of Ann Arbor than Ypsi. I was just back at the Washtenaw/23 area this past football season and it has been vastly improved since I lived there, and it was pretty nice at the time. Not disagreeing that the deeper into Ypsi you get, there are some bad areas (especially with the GM situation). The places you listed would be long hauls to Ann Arbor everyday -- anywhere from 30-45 minutes if traffic is moving okay.
-
Not sure. I just drove to North Campus and then took the bus from there if I needed to get to Central Campus. It's only a 5-10 minute drive taking the back roads. I stayed in an apartment community that was on the North side of Washtenaw, just East of 23. That area has developed very nicely over the past few years with a new shopping mall and organic grocery store. Parking has been expanded significantly on North Campus since I was there. I was in the Engineering school -- not sure about the logisitcs of someone in the Law School trying to get a parking pass on North Campus. BTW -- Congrats on getting into the Law School! It's a great school. (Then again most schools at UMich are great, unlike UDonkey's scholastically absent program to the Southeast).

I lived in Ann Arbor from in 91 and 92. Housing market was inflated relative to most areas in Michigan. There was a not-very-well-publicized concern about a possible serial rapist in the downtown area (e.g., not far from Kerrytown), other than that it's a college town so a lot of thefts, drugs, and underage drinking. The Law School is on Central Campus and that probably isn't the best area to live unless you want close access to the bars. North Campus area is much nicer, and the bus system is excellent for getting to Central Campus. My second year I lived in Ypsilanti, (near Washtenaw and 23) which had a much more reasonable cost of living.

And I thought 4 SB losses were tough...
MichFan replied to Greg de'Ville's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry to hear that, Greg. Thoughts and prayers going out to you and your family. -
Chemo, radiation -- whatever it takes -- you'll get through!!! My wife has considered the last six months a speed bump and I think it was a healthy way to approach it. There is an outstanding forum at http://forums.webmagic.com that has a lot of people who you can learn from and talk with about this condition. You're certain to find people who are in the same boat as you are as well as many others who are farther down the road of tratment, remission, and cure. I have lurked the Hodgkins board there for the past few months and it has been invaluable for helping me to understand what my wife was going through.

(OT)100 Greatest Guitar Players...
MichFan replied to Zamboni Man's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What about Rik Emmit? My God, the guy excels at almost every style of guitar playing. 6, Strings, 12 strings, electric, accoustic, rock, blues, jazz. RS put far too many one-trick horses on their list. -
1) Why did you move out of Buffalo? Moved with parents. 2) Where did you go? Michigan, then North Carolina, now Ohio 3) How does your new home compare to Buffalo? I pay as much in taxes on a 800 sq.ft. cabin in WNY as I do for a 2500 sq.ft. house in Ohio. Taxes are so high in NY that they become a deterrent to getting the type/quality of house you really want. That's not right. 4) If the econonmy and job market were stable would you move back? In a heartbeat. 5) What suggestions to you have to improve the quality of life here? Elect politicians who know that it is better for an area to drive drains on the economy (e.g., welfare, oversized government, endless social services) out of state and protect jobs than to drive jobs out of state and make people dependent on government. NY simply cannot compete with other states any more. Taxes need to be lower, economic development needs to be more results driven (e.g., too many people are making too much money off of the "if you build it they will come" mentality -- it's been built enough times now and still no one came!), regional think tanks need to figure out what WNY is going to be when it grows up. Also, Buffalonians need to stop blaming the weather for everything! Relatively speaking, few natives leave for this reason when compared with the talent that leaves to find a well paying job and support their family. Geographically, WNY is a naturally diverse area and is a terrific place to raise a family -- this is why so many people would come back if the economic climate were to improve.
