Jets "playing to the whistle" cost Bills the game
zow2 replied to hmsmystic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Jets were way physical. No doubt they were the team that was embarrassed last time and wanted to avenge it. I guess Dion Dawkins was the only cheap-shot artist on the field according to NY. I was pissed that Edmunds played two hand touch instead of smacking Darnold after his TD pass on the crazy scramble. At no point did the Bills match the Jets physicality. Trash talking doesn't count. -
I can't break down Josh Allen's metrics, but from the eye test, for me... He looks like a better QB than I thought he would. Quite honestly, from all the pre-draft analysis I thought this guy was gonna suck! He's proving that to be wrong. Allen looks like a competent NFL QB to me and that's very promising considering this is his rookie season. No doubt he's had some flub passes, but he's also had several darts right into the hands or chest of his receivers and they get dropped, or called back due to a penalty. His numbers look worse compared to what I've actually seen on the field. His rushing game might not get factored in to his overall rating but it is part of his game and he's picked up a bunch of first downs with his legs.

Jordan Jenkins threatened to kill Dion Dawkins
zow2 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh Thank you for bringing that up. I thought the exact same thing at the time. The Jets are playing physical all day and killing Allen every chance they get. They even crush our kicker. Bills don't lay an extra hit on Darnold all day long. When Edmunds is steamrolling towards Darnold he completely lays off and doesn't finish the play. I guess he is Mr. nice guy? All i can think is that it was 3rd and goal and Edmunds didn't want to get flagged for a late hit. Understandable but jeez, he was close enough to initiate some contact, just not high or driving him into the ground. -
Has a WR made a great catch this season????
zow2 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the point is this...and was made on the radio this morning as well. The receivers are dropping plenty of balls that should be caught. They are almost never making a catch on a poor throw. They rarely if ever bail out Josh Allen with some great catches. -
A successful run game would do wonders for Allen
zow2 replied to Ramza86's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A lot of things would do wonders for Allen and the offense,,,including a better rushing attack. But overall, Josh is fine. He will be solid. I was critical of him being the QB we drafted but he looks good for the most part. If you watched Trubisky and Goff last night they were both crap. It happens to all QBs. They aren't going to have 16 good games and all the QBs need some help from a decent Oline or rushing attack. -
Thats a solid take. I pretty much agree w you. I don’t blame him for just letting his natural instincts take over in his rookie season. He’s trying anything to win. Next year hopefully the game slows down and he can read and react to coverage faster. He’s in hero-mode right now and he’s taking a beating for it. If he gets hit on the brain 5 times in a game and the refs call it twice, that’s a win for the defense.

It's been noticeable since preseason and it happens every week. He either takes a wicked head shot in the pocket while getting sacked or just running around back there. Or, he will get his head slammed against the turf after he releases the ball or maybe on an unnecessary roughness play. This type of playing is just not sustainable. His brains will be scrambled by year 2. Not that Darnold is anything to behold but he goes through his progressions quickly and gets the ball out fast. He's not making himself a target. I can't really assess Allen's game going forward until I can tell what kind of passer he will be? He's definitely showing signs of being a decent passer,,,and if the receivers wouldn't drop some easy receptions he would have better numbers. It's his rookie year and hes trying to make plays, I get it. But Josh Allen will have to clean this up in 2019 and start throwing the football more and protecting his head and body.

Pregame thread: Wk 14 Jets at Bills
zow2 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We give up like 175 yds last week and 248 yds this week and lose both games. That’s brutal man -
What are you talking about? I never said it was a moral victory. Jets dominated 2nd half and earned it. If playoffs were on the line I’d be pissed but they weren’t
-
McD is a fine coach. Stop with the knee jerk reactions over a meaningless tough loss. The Jets played hard. They earned it

Second half: Week 14 Jets at Bills, 1pm CBS

Disappointed by the loss but it was a close game and neither team going anywhere this season. Jets played hard obviously wanted to avenge that earlier embarrassment. Darnold played better in crunch time. Allen was ok but some killer drops and inaccuracies too -

If reversed, Josh Allen gets lit up at the end of that, Bills didn’t put a hand on Darnold -

Allen’s completion % takes a hit but how many good passes are dropped or called back due to penalty? He had to lead the league in that -

Thanks Clay. Idiot. -
Marrone went for 2 up 31-12 with 25 sec to go vs Jets
zow2 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How about the culture that Marrone has created down in Jacksonville?!? Holy cow, what a disaster. Seems like the players do and say whatever they want. -
I've seen plenty of Bills fans on the sidelines of pre-game warmups at road games. I assume they are friends of the suite holders or whoever they are attending the game with to get that sideline access. Most people, however, are wearing just a t-shirt, hoodie, cap, etc.. Nothing like the Pack fan in the article.

NFL helmets in college colors

Chiefs, Colts, Jets and Panthers are just gross. -
I still go back to the old reference...Jerry Rice had a slow 40-time but he ran a 4.2 on Sundays. I really hope the Bills can find a way to draft AJ. Mack got away, let's hope AJ doesn't. He's going to be very productive in the NFL. He has great body position/control and catches with his hands. There are reports that the Cowboys love him. The Bills need a solid WR and gotta get this done.

Love ya Scottie but why couldn't Christie be the one kicking that 47 yd FG on that fateful Jan. 1991 night in Tampa when i was sitting at the 50 yard line?!?!?!? Ok, sorry,,, that pic took me back.
-
I just assumed it was because A) at this level, a punter probably has super hand/eye coordination and is used to catching the snap and B) the punter has the time in practice to handle this duty

Watching Skins Makes you really appreciate having Allen and Barkley

Allen's Last Pass (12/2): Bad Pass or Drop?
zow2 replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The ball definitely must’ve slipped out of Josh’s hand. Even going to his left he was able to Rip it and his arm is plenty strong enough, even when tired. You can tell on replay Clays right toe caught the turf monster, so he was falling forward. What I don’t understand is why a professional receiver like Clay would not get his arms under the ball to keep it From hitting the ground? It’s like he short armed it. Strange all around -
I liked seeing some quick, short high % passes called in the second half. Not everything has to be a 20 yard rope or a bomb. Brady and Rodgers for example make a living out of short throws mixed in to their games. Allen is starting to look like the best QB out of this draft, with the exception of Mayfield. But I don't know how much better or more accurate Mayfield will get going forward? He's good now. Will he get better? With Allen you feel like he will get much more comfortable and more accurate a season or two from now. Anyway, i was skeptical.. I didn't want to draft Josh Allen. So i give credit to Beane and his staff here for moving up to get themselves into position to draft him.

Miami Coverage---Allen is the QB Dolphins wish they had...wow!
zow2 replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I checked out a Fins message board late last night to see their take. Most were underwhelmed by their win and named the MVP's of the game as two ex-Dolphins.. Clay and Phillips. As for Josh Allen, two comments from their board posters stood out. Most really were impressed by Allen and underwhelmed by their team. - "Josh Allen looks really, really good. I think the Bills are set for years. Tom Brady won't do that against us next week that's for sure" - "On the evidence of the Jets/Bills games against us, the Jets picked the wrong guy. -
Two plays before the last throw to Clay, Allen got smacked in the head hard when he was taken down in the pocket. It was the second Dolphins player who hit him, and it was intentional. You could tell Allen was rocked as he was trying to shake it off and he looked at the ref like, C'mon man. That non-call play infuriated me more than any. Although he did get hit in the facemask earlier in the game by a fist/hand, another no-call. Not to mention he was dragged down at least once hard and hit his head on the ground, that's on him. Allen just takes too many head shots for my liking, even in preseason.
