I live and work 450 miles from Buffalo, so I have many longtime friends, coworkers, etc. who root for other teams (i.e. Pack, Steelers, Giants, Pats, Jets, Ravens, Panthers, Bengals, Bucs, Denver to name a few). At some point over the past 15-17 years most of their teams have made the playoffs, even won an occasional super bowl. I can tell after a few weeks every year they start to feel sorry for me and don't even take joy in rubbing it in as a Bills fan. We are viewed as basically an irrelevant team to other fans. People see me or send me texts and say, "sorry man, was hoping your team would make the playoffs for ya ". It's just sad, I feel like Pegula will turn this around but again, I think the Bills will have to get worse before they get better.

Just got back from the game, in person observations
zow2 replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep. I live near Baltimore so it was easy to be there. I felt so bad for all the great Bills fans who flew down or drove the 400 miles. The only thing they really had to cheer was pre game warmups. One guy near me had the Bills construction hat on and face paint. He was so quiet all day save for the one TD. I just felt horrible seeing all the Bills Fans leaving there with nothing to be excited about. -

I was at the game too. Winnable game, Flacco bobbled a few snaps and wasn't all that good. Fans in my section expected a Ravens win and were disappointed their team barely beat a woeful team like Buffalo. It was just a ho hum win for them. They kinda felt sorry for me for a minute. Tyrod throwing on the run was terrible, he's so much better than that. Sammy dropped that first down pass with 5 mins to go and that essentially killed the drive and we never saw the ball again. Sure hope his foot is ok. He seems not 100% Hate to say it but last year with Karlos Williams was a great 1-2 combo with shady. Not having a talent like that this year hurts. The Oline blows and they may have to get Gillislee and the rookie some playing time -
Hmmm, is there an over/under on blatantly horrible calls by refs for Bills and Ravens.?. either drive killing or drive extending (for opponent). I'd be interested to keep a tally on that. Trying to be optimistic here but I see the first drive going like this. Bills receive kickoff, move right down the field with some nifty running and passing. Get inside the 10 and we suffer a bad turnover , then it all goes downhill from there. Ravens 30 - Bills 13

UB football embarrassing loss to Albany.
zow2 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in Off the Wall Archives
A complete disaster for UB football. They just lost any shred of credibility they had and a lot of fan support last night. Shame. -
Your honest prediction for the Bills record this year
zow2 replied to Spurna's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My heart say 10-6 if minimal injuries and some plain luck. My head says 6-10 is a real possibility though. -
Jared Goff = #1 overall pick, 3rd string QB
zow2 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Saw Goff play a bit this preseason and he does look awful. That's gotta suck to draft a guy #1 overall and know you could've had a Dak Prescott for nothing. Even Cardale Jones and the kid from Michigan (that lit up the Bills scrubs) look more like future NFL QB's. -
Preseason Game 4: Bills at Lions - 9/1 at 7:30 PM
zow2 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is the annual 4th preseason game a$$ whooping by Detroit. Happens almost every year. Not a big deal but a bit annoying to see their scrubs have their way with our scrubs every August. -
Mark Gaughan gives up b4 the season even starts
zow2 replied to 8-8 Forever?'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's easy for Gaughan to predict mediocrity. It's the safe route and probably 90% chance he's right based on history. A few good bounces and maybe some penalties that go our way for once, the Bills could finish 10-6. -
Maryland posters...can we get a Ravens scouting report?
zow2 replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am bombarded by local DC/Balt sports talk all the time. From the Ravens perspective, they expect to be 1-0 after their home opener. They definitely expect a bounce back year. Maybe their O doesn't have the recognizable names other than Flacco, but they've moved the ball well in preseason. But then again, Kamar Aiken (ex-Bills player) is one of their better WR's so they aren't stacked. I'm worried about the Ravens D. They look to play very physical and they will be a tough group for Tyrod & Co. to move the ball against, especially with crowd noise. I see a very close, low scoring game...something like 17-14, 20-17 type final. No idea who will win but I'll be fairly impressed if the Bills come out of there 1-0. That would be a good win for sure. -
Check out UB's probable starting QB
zow2 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Looking forward to watching UB's home opener Friday. And Tyree Jackson looks like the real deal. We shall see. A physical specimen at QB with speed, a good arm and accuracy is not something you see every year at UB. It will be interesting to watch his pocket presence and how he handles things. I understand the Senior Rohach will start but if Jackson comes in and does well he may not leave the field. -
Already got my $50/month credit a few weeks ago for calling about ST. Called again yesterday to let them know our $5.99 PPV movie rental Sat night was buffering the whole time and was terrible to watch like that. Of course they credited the movie.. I said thanks. Out of the blue, the rep asked if I had Sunday Ticket Max. I said yes, and he offered me $9 discount off the price per month. I was like "Okay", like i had never heard of such a wonderful thing as a discount. Then he started offering me HD Receiver credit and some other credits that i know have expired recently... All this without me even asking?!? I love Directv...

Luckily Baltimore is having the same pre-season as we are
zow2 replied to Webster Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hear ya. The Bills have hundreds of hours of tape on Brady and still can't stop him. It's about talent and matchups. The book is pretty much written about how to stop Tyrod. Big rush up the middle and contain the outside...make him throw under duress in the pocket...off his back foot, etc.. He will kill you if he's allowed to roll and throw on the run (or take off and run). -

zow2 replied to Webster Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know man.. I thought the Ravens have looked fairly good this preseason despite a few injuries. Their starting D was very physical and dominated Detroit easily. The fact Harbaugh and his staff know Tyrod so well worries me a bit. It's Baltimore's home opener and it's a tough stadium to play in, very noisy. Count me as one who will be impressed if the Bills go in there and come away with a win. I'll be there rooting em on. -
Ravens gonna be a handful opening day. Their first team looked good tonight and very physical on D. Ben Watson tore his Achilles and is done for season. Also their rookie RB who looked good sprained his knee.
-
Joe Theismamn on the Skins broadcast was lukewarm on EJ. Says he throws too often up the middle to guys standing still. Doesn't target guys on the move. Says Redskins approach is much different in that regard. Tyrod is much better at hitting dudes in stride.

RBs aren't disposable but it's the most dime a dozen position you can find in the NFL. Guys like Shady are special with their explosiveness... Karlos? His best NFL days might be behind him already. I like Gillislee but cmon, he replaceable

Makes me thrilled we drafted EJ instead of that guy. And poor EJ may give way to Cardale at some point -

This game should be like 21 or 24-0. If this were regular season I'd be stomping around punching the walls. Thankfully it's not -

Always weird that RB crossing the plain by an inch in mid air then fumbling when landing out of bounds is a TD, but that Powell thing is not a catch -

Tyrod really impressing me. Sees the field well, feels the rush, making good decisions -

Cmon Bush. These guys aren't helping Tyrod too much out there. Should be 7-0 and that was a perfect throw to Bush -

At least Reggie looks confident and sure handed fielding punts. That's half the battle
