It's *Only* if he breaks the record that he will be back in play. If he falls one yard short he has zero shot. I don't think he gets it, not if the Eagles care about their playoff run. The only voter I've heard consistently on TV is Acho. He's been very measured and rational. Many of these other tv guys spouting off are overly emotional and have personal agendas to root for certain guy(s). I don't think they represent the majority of the voters.

I agree but I'd make a bet that if he sets the rushing record he has a real shot to win MVP.
-
Voters may be hoping that Saquon breaks the record. That would be a good excuse to not vote for Allen.... or Lamar for a 3rd time. With the Eagles locked in to their division title and also keeping Hurts out, seems kinda nuts to run him more than a handful of times. Maybe they hope he can break a long run or two.

They need to script something to get Allen and the offense off to a fast start. Too many home games where they go 3 and out right out of the gate and it messes up the entire first Qtr possession time (examples this season: Arizona, Tenn, Miami, SF, NE). Yes, they usually get it together and sometimes roll, but in a game to seal up the 2 seed they should try to put the weakened Jets away quickly if the Bills are what we think they are.

What Kansas City did to the Steelers in Pittsburgh's stadium delegitimized them as any kind serious contender. They were easily handled by the Chiefs. Houston also got terribly injured at KC the week earlier. Baltimore beat up two teams (Steelers and Texans) that are hemorrhaging at the worst time. I'm not discrediting the Ravens, they still had to win those games but to beat the Giants, Steelers and Houston in these last 3 games is not equivalent to winning at Detroit and vs KC. Not even close.

Damn RIP Greg. very sad. guys disappear from the public eye and next thing you know they are very sick or dead. We are zipping through our lives fast. -
I think it matters to a lot of us for various reasons. Bills fans want him to be recognized with the highest individual honor in the NFL. It would be a ticket to the HOF without any question. He deserves it not just for this season but for his body of work and offensive production (records) over the past several years. Lamar is not 3 MVP’s to Zero better than Josh. I also want Allen to leave Buffalo someday with hardware. The Lombardi is what we all want but the MVP is a nice consolation prize for him and the organization. Who knows if Josh will be this close again? maybe next season Mahomes goes off again, then Burrow makes a run… or Jayden Daniels, Goff, Lamar again, etc. He’s so close now, just needs a decent game and win vs the Jets.

Lamar's last 3 games against the Giants, Steelers and Houston have been excellent, but they are not better than Allen's big National TV games against KC, SF, LAR and Det where he did all sorts of "alien" stuff. The game vs New England in the freezing cold, where the Bills offense struggled seems to have flipped the entire script, even though Buffalo won. I don't know, it's all very strange the way the Loudest voices are screaming for Lamar and everyone has sort of gone quiet about Allen.

I just want to get to that game. If the Bills struggle this Sunday i will be more nervous about the round 1 matchup than I already am.
-
That's not happening. But if they find a reason to not give it to Allen i think they bypass Lamar as well and award Saquon, Goff or even Darnold. That would shut everyone up I think. One thing for sure, Allen has to hold serve this weekend and win the game.
-
James Jones has backed Allen all season but i think I heard him say it's over. There's nothing Allen can do this Sunday..... the MVP belongs to Lamar. At least Acho who is a voter has not said that.
-
It says in The Buffalo News today that Allen is dealing with right elbow and right shoulder injuries after the Patriots game. This feels like with the weather it's going to be a ground and pound and quick screen passes, type of game.
-
The Chiefs are better today than they were in September, so that is worrying. Also, they are the only AFC playoff team with that "refuse to lose" mentality. We haven't seen that out of Buffalo or Baltimore in the playoffs in the last 5 years. You know Allen has that mentality, but he cannot control the defensive and special teams sides of the ball. If KC's offense in on the field last, or their defense is on the field last...they Always make the play necessary to win. That obviously has to change.
-
Bills started pressuring Maye like crazy in the 2nd half last weekend. They need to do that more this Sunday. We can't let any QB just stand there and pick the secondary apart. They cannot hold coverage, not many secondary's can.
-
The award isn't named the "Lamar Jackson annual MVP award" I do think the voters have Lamar fatigue and they are going in a different direction this season. If Josh does not win it, i believe the award will go to Saquon or Goff... or maybe even Darnold if they earn the 1 seed. He would certainly be deserving with that accomplishment. The voters can point to Baltimore having 5 losses and Derrick Henry having a phenomenal season as reasons to go in a different direction and not be slammed.

RG3 was Lamar’s backup for a season or two. They are pretty tight I think. I just don’t get how Lamar got all the national accolades for scoring 5 TDs vs the Giants. On the same day as Allen defeated the Lions, a much tougher opponent. Those games were not even in stature but they somehow pulled Lamar closer to Allen in the minds of media. Since that day, all the momentum has swung to LJ.

Broncos, Ravens, Chiefs - Can the Bills run through this gauntlet.
zow2 replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills are getting good experience playing in all types of “our” weather the last three home games. Which you would think would be a playoff advantage for the home games. vs SF cold and snowy entire game vs NE freezing cold near single digits vs NY rain forecasted entire game, 55 -
Seahawks-Bears anyone? (Live Game Thread)

This game is a hard watch so far. -
I went to a game a few years ago (2021)? We sat in a steady hard cold rain the entire day and the Bills beat Houston like 40-0. Allen passed and ran with ease in the rain, so hopefully that can be replicated.

I do have the feeling something weird will happen to them in round 1. All those close wins and they will be on the receiving end of a heartbreaker. -

If Lamar start running in the playoffs,,,and I mean taking off and running whenever the field opens up for him, our defense or any defense is in trouble.
